Jonathan offered a friendly smile. “Just remember, I’m new here as well and we’re all going to muddle through the adjustment period together. Hopefully taking the Centurion out for a spin will give us all a chance to get to know each other and gel a bit as a team. Take this first week to talk to people, make notes, and don’t hesitate to ask questions as they come up. I am fully expecting to need to be around for exactly that purpose, so if you want to meet again, I’m happy to. Or you can call me. But also take the time to do as Dasca said and get out and explore the colony. Spend some downtime seeing where different people hang out, what the problem areas are, where collaboration with the civilian contingent is most needed. The reports will tell you a lot, but trust your own instincts. They will tell you more.”

Tiberius thought for a second or two before responding. He then replied to the Captain, “Thank you for this Captain. This seems to be an extremely busy colony with lots going on. I am going to need to gather my team and see about getting a Assistant Chief and a Team lead to help with the load with everything which goes on with the colony. I believe this to be the first set of items I need to get completed with being new and then chatting with as many people as I can in the colony will probably do me a ton of good.”

McBride nodded.

He then wanted to discuss more about the ship, “Speaking of the Centurion, how often do you normally go out on patrol and what not on the vessel? Do you generally expect the Star-fleet department heads to be on the vessel or is it expected for someone like myself to stay local and allow my 1st or 2nd hand to go on those missions or does it just depend on what is going on?” He then waited for a reply before asking his next question.

“So everyone who serves on the Centurion will be on a rotating schedule, that way people can plan ahead,” Jonathan said. “I expect that if you are on call you will be ready to go at a moment’s notice. Patrols are divided by all our ships and the Klingons, but the Centurion specifically will likely be twice a week, plus the likelihood of impromptu drills for the next while. During a drill, it’s whomever is on call unless there is a need for specific people, and you are expected to report to the ship asap. Otherwise, additional missions will determine crew complement based on what the mission is exactly.

Tiberius thought this was a nice rotation. He then responded, “Is the on-call rotation allocated to the department heads or to you? I will be happy to take the task on if there isn’t an issue.” Tiberius looked forward to getting to know everyone on the colony that he can and growing to know the members of his security team. He also needs to talk to the head or someone from the colony security’s team. He wanted to make sure the CCDA was aware Star-fleet security would be willing to help out whenever they can and to show that Star-fleet was not as bad as they have came across in the past. He then waited for a response from the captain.

“I’ll schedule the senior staff but you can schedule the rotation for your own department,” McBride said with a smile. “Not everyone stationed on Oed is also seconded for the Centurion, so as you work through evaluating where everything stands, you’ll see who is who. But the computer can pull the records of those that are. If I recall correctly, there are about one hundred who swap in and out, and that can change as well.”

Tiberius thought for a few moments and responded, “Thank you for the information. Having the details will be ideal and allow me to go through it all. 100 is quite a bit to review but having the data will help. I could never remember all of them.” He then was curious what else might be going on. He said, “I look forward to performing my duties on both the Oed V and the Centurion. I am very excited to see everything going on with the colony.” He then waited for a response.

McBride nodded. “You’ve got a lot to settle in to. Anything other questions I can answer before you head off?”
