“Very true. I am.. well was a being that had people come to me. I was the important one. I was the First Assistant to the Grand Nagus himself. Second in charge.” He then waved a hand dismissively…”Now. I am a nobody. That happened fast. I am not used to going to people. But I will endeavor to learn to be social. In fact, after this meeting, I will go out. Do you have anything else you would like to know madam?”

“Definitely,” Dasca said. “A part of my job right now is to understand the different pieces in play on the colony that allow it to function. This is a colony full of wealth and potential wealth and it’s going through a period significant and rapid growth. When it comes to our finances where are our pain points? What areas should I be keeping an eye on as things unfold?”

“Well. The way I see it I am best to handle this job and with a team of beings and others like you looking out and helping. Since my job before was to look for ways to make money the fastest and cheapest way possible and without morality, I am best suited to look out for thieves and beings that want to exploit a rich sudden boon in a planet. I can make sure that contacts are a fair deal and we do not get screwed as the youngish say. That madam is the weakest points and the pain points. Hoka is very skilled at this as well.” Taking a sip of his bourbon before continuing.
“I do see one other problem though. I need to do a very thorough search of the current and established businesses here as well to make sure that they are not doing the same thing as the crooks trying to come in. A crook to catch a crook. I think I have read that somewhere. Anyway. It is true though.”

“Indeed,” Dasca said as she took a sip of her water. “The last thing we need are shady business practices, though I expect during some of big changes that small things slip through the cracks. They always do; it’s inevitable. It’s how they are handled that can make or break your department, Minister. So I guess i’m curious what your approach would be if you do find issues.”

He waved a fat hand dismissively. “That is easy Governor. I will do what I have always done in these matters when I was second in charge of The Alliance. But with some adjustments. First after going through and finding a problem, I and my team will do a very thorough investigation then pass the findings to your office. If it warrants another opinion, the investigation will be passed to your office for another review. Then you will make the decision as to their punishment if any. If it is just a matter of not really understanding tax law or the process of recording and keeping, then I and my office will help them and train them to get on the right track.....” He paused because he got an idea. “That reminds me. We can hold classes every month on how to run a business and file properly. We can do it in Hoka’s University. Anyway. Does my approach make sense, and does it fit in with your protocols?” He took another sip of his drink while he waited for the response.
