Lacing her hands together, Eela flexed her fingers together and tilted her head up to the ceiling. “So, for me it’ll really depend on who the individual is. I mean, not only would I not be comfortable inviting a stranger into my home, but the CCDA would have a fit if I tried. I’d really like to not give my security agents strokes or have Tenkiller on my ass accusing me of sheer stupidity.” She tilted her head back down. “He’d be right to as well.”

“No, let’s not do that…I can only imagine what he’d have to say to me about it…Since I could have ‘put a stop to Shrine’ or not been so eager to talk you into it. Then the lecture he would give that woman. He’s not one bit afraid of her. I don’t know if that’s brave or he just doesn’t know better. I do know a couple of the girls have decided to cook, but are making a picnic out of it. None of us relish having a stranger in our home. Though some of them are really hoping for a certain person to bid.”

Inhaling, Eela chewed on her lower lip. “But the rest leaves a lot of potentially great options. I can cover the costs of anything and we can plan security in advance blah, blah, blah, and if I’m fortunate, maybe I’ll get someone enjoyable to to talk to. And…” Her eyes lit up. “I know it’s not everyone’s idea of fun, but I love getting dressed up. I don’t know if you know this, but Haliian’s are genetically wired towards parties and sparkle,” she said matter-of-factly. Sure, it was stretching the truth, a bit, but not all that much. “And I have another event I need a formal gown for, so I guess I get to do some shopping!”

Sharah laughed, “Oh you have fun with that. It’s been since before the Academy since I went actual clothes shopping. Everything came from the replicator.” Sharah grinned, “There are a lot of possibilities though. Yavia is planning a trip to a baseball game and whatever food that includes. Jal’na is planning to go to this new Klingon cuisine restaurant that opened, near the old dome edge. They cook fresh food. Not replicated or shipped. They grow it and feed it and slaughter it and eat it. Elaine has decided to go to this little food truck a friend of hers has opened and then spend the rest of the time at an animal adoption center. And I have absolutely NO idea what I’ll do.”

“Well that makes two of us,” Dasca said with a quiet sigh. She shook her head and sat back upright, resting her laced hands on the desk. “I guess this is where I’ll get nervous and uncertain. I told you about the arrangement I had with Cory, so casual dating is something I’ve been used to, but I’m so out of practice and so much has changed. That point you mention about their angle weighs on me too. It’s very hard to not wonder if someone wants to be in my presence because they are interested in me or what I as a person of power and influence on the colony can do for them. It’s strange that that is even a variable in my life now. You would think it would have been the same as a starship captain, but it never was. It’s different in a civilian environment. But I guess that’s just something we’ll have to deal with if we’re going to participate.” She broke into a grin. “A little risk for potential reward and a worthy cause, yes?”

~Eela Dasca, Lt. Gov.

“I have never casually dated. I’m not sure what that’s supposed to look like. It’s not like I’m looking to find anyone. I’m perfectly happy,” she started to laugh, “Oh that sounds so strange to my ears, Eela. I’m happy, and in a situation that is so weirdly comfortable I find myself grinning for no reason at all most of the day.” Sharah tilted her head back and laughed softly for a second looking at the way the light and shadow played. “And now…I have to participate in this crazy fundraising event.”

Eela couldn’t read Sharah’s thoughts, but she could observe the emotions mixed with the body language and understand intrinsically what was behind her reaction, and paired it with her earlier blush when explaining the paper ripping exercise. She beamed back. “I am so glad for you. There is nothing better than finding a situation that fills your needs in unexpected ways. For you, this fundraiser truly will be a chance to just be more social and find ways in which that isn’t invasive for you. I hope it works in your favour.”

~Eela Dasca, Lt. Gov.

Sharah snorted, “It is going to take so much more than a fundraiser and an insane and nosey amount of attention on me to make socializing easier.” The whole thing was actually making her anxious, and it wasn’t even close yet. Sharah did better in very small groups and she was content and happy with that. She was going to have to do this though. “Okay, so you ate going to have to help me figure this out. Even if you manage to dissuade Shrine, I need help.” Sharah chuckled slightly, “And you better have a game plan when you talk to her. She’s more logical than a Vulcan and more determined than a Ferengi after profits.”
