He was in the den, and on the vid was the introduction to a movie starring Duncan Sampson, one of rhe galaxy’s best action stars. The title screen had gold letters that read Star Struck!, with the ‘Struck’ being hit with a fist. He looked up and said “Hey… mind-numbing brain junk food? Sound good?”

Tenkiller

“Oh, I haven’t seen this one yet.” Yavia handed him his glass and then sat down next to him and stretched out, her glass resting on her leg. “That sounds perfect.” She leaned back, sipping at what ever fruity concoction she had made, foot bouncing along with the intro music.

Yavia

It was roughly 45 minutes later. Sharah could feel them and hear their thoughts and tell even before she saw the open door to the den, they were waiting for her. She made her way quietly, though she was sure Charles heard her anyway, to the door and stood there, hands clasped in front of her and stated at him in disbelief. “You ran a BACKGROUND check on my shrink?!”

Sharah

Yavia’s eyes widened and she reached over and stopped the movie. The answer to that question required their full attention. Yavia assumed that was the Korczak Sharah didn’t want to be late for. “Whoa…TK that’s…gutsy.” She was trying really hard not to grin and keep her amusement hidden. Sharah was going back and forth between being upset and understanding. She was gonna turn into a Roman candle if she decided on upset.

Charles held up a finger and said “Noooo… I read your shrink’s personnel file.” and he looked up at her. “And it just so happens that we know each other. He taught a Command course in Non-aggressive Interrogation that I took. And I finished first in his class, I’ll have you know.” and then he looked at V. “It was a really good course. All about ways to get a suspect to volunteer information without the usual tricks and threats.” he said, desperately trying to change the subject… and failing miserably.

Tenkiller

Yavia nodded her head slowly, “Oh yeah? That explains a lot.”

Yavia

Oh yeah, that explained soooo much. Including every time she marveled at how much the things Charles said reminded her of Korczak. Gods she was oblivious. Sharah swore in Betzed, it came out in an explosion of disbelief. “You might pass Korczak on the street and never notice him, but once you meet him, you never forget him. So don’t pass of the ‘Oh yeah I know this guy, huh, how about that.’ Especially not if you passed the top of his class.” She didn’t want to fight or be upset with him. She was also well aware after today she felt raw and exhausted. “So that night you asked me who he was, you knew, or suspected.” Sharah had a hard time staying mad at people most of the time, because she could feel why they did what they did. Even if she wouldn’t choose the same, she understood. “Explain to me, please, why. Why you felt it was okay to keep it a secret that you did that.”

Sharah

Charles sighed in defeat and said “Because I had to… for work. Anyone we, the three of us, have constant or in this case mental health based, contact with has to be vetted for security reasons. I have access to the head of the CCDA on a daily basis and access to the senior leadership of the colony. A colony, need I remind you, with a long and storied history of assassinating just such individuals. As you two are connected to me, so anyone more than a passing acquaintance to you has to be cleared in the system. So either I can do it… or we can have Colonial Intelligence do it. I figured me doing it would be less invasive.”

Tenkiller

Sharah bit the inside of her lip as she looked at him. She let the emotions move through her along with the words. “Yeah, I understand that. I do. I’m an officer, everyone I deal with, within Star Fleet is vetted. Who I’m allowed to seek counseling from is restricted.” She moved further into the room as she spoke. “Certainly CCDA has a right to check on anything or anyone that could affect the colony. I didn’t think about it, it didn’t occur to me that it needed to be done from both sides, and that’s on me.” She let out a sigh, sinking onto the couch beside him. “Thank you for not letting a stranger do it. But…I don’t care it had to be done, I do care you didn’t tell me. I wouldn’t have asked you not to, hell I would have given you a list.”

Sharah

Charles nodded and stood up and went to her. “I am sorry. Honestly, it has been going on for so long I didn’t even really think about it. Thats not an excuse… its just the reason I didn’t say anything. My thought process started at ‘Got to do the checks.’…” and he turned to V and said “… including all the folks you play ball with…” and he turned back to Sharah, “… and it ended with ‘I don’t want the CIA rummaging around her life.’. If I’d a’taken it a step further, I would realized that I should have said somethin’. And for that I do sincerely apologize.”

Tenkiller

Sharah set her palms flat against his chest and nodded with a half smile, “I accept, and I’m sorry.” She blew out a breath and rested her forehead against his chest. “I thought it was funny at first. I don’t know why I got upset.” She hadn’t been mad at all, and when Korczak mentioned it she hadn’t been surprised at all. She’d only meant to tease him a little. But somewhere between the words leaving her mouth and his answer…”I think I need to just go to bed.”

Sharah

He hugged her and said “You have one hell of a day, hun. Go to sleep. We’ll be around, but give yourself some alone time. But know you can crawl into bed with us if you want.”

Sharah softened into his hug and took several slow breaths as his closeness eased emotional exhaustion into simple tiredness. She stayed there for long moments. She took another deep breath, “It has been hard, but I shouldn’t teact like that,” and then kissed him gently. “I’m sorry, Charles.” She kissed him again on the cheek. “I live you.”

“No apology needed. And I love you, too.” he said with a lingering kiss on her lips.

She moved over to Yavia and kissed her as well while being pulled into a hug. “I love you, too.” Sharah’s regret and listlessness was obvious.

Yavia hugged her, her hand stocking over her hair and back. “Sharah, relax, we all have bad days. Even you. I think you will feel better with a hot bath,” she grinned. Yavia thought hot baths fixed everything. “And go to bed early. Today was a closing and that means something. It’s okay if you are emotional about it.” She kissed Sharah and then helped her stand.

Then she slipped out of the room and back down stairs.

Sharah

Everyone I play ball with?” V got a really wicked smirk on her face, “Where does Mo’pna disappear to in the middle of every practice?”

Yavia

TK looked at V and said “Everyone. And I did background checks, nosey. Not full surveillance.”

Tenkiller

Yavia grinned, “Awwwe, come in, you gotta have something juicy in there somewhere.” She stood up and sauntered over to him. “Oh....so that means you did one on me too.” She grinned and dropped her arms over his shoulders. “Soooo that means you know all my secrets now. How ever will I keep you interested?”

Yavia

He looked at her and suddenly grabbed her under her butt and lifted her up so her legs wrapped around his waist and he said “Oh, I can think of a way or six that you can try.” and he kissed her as he walked her up against the dividing wall between the den and the kitchen.

Tenkiller

Yavia practically purred as he lifted her. Her gaze dropped from his eyes to his lips right before he kissed her. She trailed kisses across his jaw to nibble his ear. She leaned her weight back against the wall, “That could take days.” She leaned in to kiss him again, her fingers tunneling into his long black hair.

Yavia

“Oh… that it could…” he whispered against her neck…

It was few hours later and TK looked at V and said “You know… I think I may have to take a sabbatical from work and just hang out with you and Sharah for… well… ever.” and he laughed. “Speaking of, I wonder if she is still asleep?”

Tenkiller

V brushed his hair back over his shoulder. “That’s not a bad idea. I mean I doubt t you or Sharah could be gone from your posts for too long, but uninterrupted time for the three of us would be good.” She glanced out the door. “Well the house alarm didn’t go off saying she was sneaking out again, so with any luck, yeah. Let’s go find her.”

The bag V had made and left for Sharah by the door was still there. Sharah was not in her room either. She made her way toward their room and paused in the door way. V’s voice floated quietly to him, “Found her.” Sharah was asleep in the middle of the bed.

Yavia

“Let her sleep. She’s had a hell of a day.” TK said. He walked past her and took her hand and led her down the hall towards the stairs. “C’mon.” he whispered. “I’ll make dinner.”

Tenkiller

Yavia laced her fingers with his and laughed quietly as they padded back up the stairs. “I thought we already had dinner and desert.” When they reached the kitchen she pulled him back towards her as she leaned against the counter. She wrapped her arms around him as she kissed him. There was passion of course, but this was an outpouring of love and happiness and encompassing affection. And it lasted for a long time.

Yavia pulled back just enough to look at him. “You spend a lot of time taking care of us, but what do you want for you right now? If you’re hungry, we’ll eat. If you want to do something else, we can do that too.”

Yavia

He thought for a moment, then looked at the island in the kitchen, then looked at Yavia, then he grinned. “Well… I have an idea. And it doesn’t take a telepath to figure it out, I don’t think.” He put his hands on her hips and lifted her up o to the counter top. He kissed her solidly on the lips and then said “Don’t move.” and he dashed out of the kitchen.

Yavia watched him leave with a bemused expression. She was sitting cross-legged on the counter when he returned - with the guitar.

In a few moments, he came back with his guitar slung on his chest, and he began to play:

We get it almost every night
When that moon gets so big and bright
It’s a supernatural delight
Everybody was dancin’ in the moonlight
Everybody here is out of sight
They don’t bark and they don’t bite
They keep things loose, they keep things light
Everybody was dancin’ in the moonlight

Dancin’ in the moonlight
Everybody’s feelin’ warm and right
It’s such a fine and natural sight
Everybody’s dancin’ in the moonlight

We like our fun and we never fight
You can’t dance and stay uptight
It’s a supernatural delight
Everybody was dancin’ in the moonlight
Dancin’ in the moonlight

Everybody’s feelin’ warm and right
It’s such a fine and natural sight
Everybody’s dancin’ in the moonlight
Everybody here is out of sight
They don’t bark and they don’t bite
They keep things loose, they keep things light
Everybody was dancin’ in the moonlight

Everybody’s dancin’ in the moonlight
Everybody’s feelin’ warm and right
It’s such a fine and natural sight
Everybody’s dancin’ in the moonlight
Everybody’s
Dancin’ in the moonlight

Everybody’s feelin’ warm and right
It’s such a fine and natural sight
Everybody’s dancin’ in the moonlight
Everybody’s
Dancin’ in the moonlight

Everybody’s feelin’ warm and right
It’s such a fine and natural sight
Everybody’s dancin’ in the moonlight
Everybody’s
Dancin’ in the moonlight

Everybody’s feelin’ warm and right
It’s such a fine and natural sight
Everybody’s dancing in the moonlight

Yavia swayed where she sat for a moment. Then she turned and stretched across the counter for the controls and turned the lights in the house off. With all the windows and clear partitions the Oed moonlight streamed into the house. It gave the room a soft, fantastical appearance. Then Yavia was on her barefoot dancing on the counter. She was by no means the greatest dancer, but what she lacked in skill, she made up for in complete enjoyment.
