Eela shook her head. “I can’t see any reason why that won’t work.” And it worked nicely that the Centurion was doing its extended training patrol before then as well. Overall, despite whatever emotions and old trauma they would need to deal with from their own populace, Eela felt an excitement that mirrored Kek’s.

Mathis smiled at the Vren. “I do believe that we all in agreement and have a plan for the next steps. We’ll see you in eight days, Ambassador. And you know how to reach me should anything come up between now and then. By all means, call me.”

“Travel safe, Ambassador Kek. I look forward to making your acquaintance in eight standard days.”

Hyrushi, Governor

Kek nodded and said “As do I, Governor.” and the screen went blank.

Kek, Vren Ambassador

Jeanette leaned back in her seat. “Well, that went rather well. Aside from the bomb about the nurseries of course,” she said, tipping her gaze towards the ceiling. “Understandable, but… wow, that’s going to be a hard sell.” She dropped her chin and looked at the two colony leaders.

“It is hard to dispel the idea that this isn’t some invasion when they’re talking about bringing significant numbers of their population over. Though getting a better idea on what those numbers actually are will make things more clear,” Eela said with a sigh. “I do believe we can manage a situation like that, but we just told everyone that it would only be scientific assistance. No relocation. They are definitely going to call us out on that.”

~Eela Dasca, Lt. Gov.

Kenzo sat and thought for a moment. “We will need a much better understanding of what such an endeavor would entail. But I believe there may be some room to work. The Ambassador said they wanted to move the nurseries here. If I read the Vren briefing correctly, they lay eggs. If they only want us to safeguard eggs u til they hatch… well, if anyone is afraid of an invasion of hatchling, that really isn’t someone we could reason with anyway.” He took a breath and then said “But I believe it goes without saying that the request should stay between us, and not be broadcast to the public yet.”

Hyrushi, Governor

“Oh hell, agreed. Can you imagine the reaction, especially if we don’t have most if not all of the details hammered out and can answer questions with confidence. I am fine with telling people I don’t know something but this would be a terrible time to do so,” she said, blowing out a breath. “The tighter we keep this information until we’re ready to release it, the less likely we’ll have some of those more sensationalist reporters spinning the story and causing a riot.” She sat forward. “Which means it would be wise to pay close attention to how different media on the colony are discussing events. Keep ourselves from being surprised.”

Mathis pushed herself to her feet and moved towards one of the windows to gaze out over the colony for a moment before she looked back at them. “On the bright side, Kek seemed very eager for the gala idea, so I think we can go ahead with those plans. Which means we ned to start vetting the press that will be offered credentials to the more public diplomatic events and decide the guest list etcetera. I appreciate him offering to supply their own food. That does solve one issue,” she said, letting a tiny smirk appear.

“Venue is another concern. Have you and your staff had an opportunity to look at the suggestions Captain Dasca and I sent over? We can certainly have a place ready in the timeframe, but we need to know where it is today if that is goingvto happen.” Hyrushi said.

Hyrushi, Governor

Mathis nodded. “I think the Oed Museum is the best bet in terms of of atmosphere and security. We can control the whole venue and access to the area, and it will give the Vren something to do while they are also having discussions with the other attendees. I say we go with that option and work on the logistics.”
