Conrad laughed. “Time will indeed do that to you. The question is, do you feel you won’t become bored of it later on? Again, it’s likely that time will tell.” He gave a slight smirk. “Besides! Not everything Halai was involved in had to do with her government position. We did after all fly out to find you and whisk you away. Not boring if you ask me. Colonial government is different than what you’ll find deep within the Federation anyway. Or at least that’s been my experience with it.”
His mention of that crazy escapade made her momentarily hesitant. Did he wonder what all went down? Sure he knew about Halai’s end, but Kristina had been rather quiet about her side of it other than it was wha they thought… and not. Or rather, yes she had been abducted but after awhile she came to understand why and decided to not interfere beyond making sure her sister was okay. Was it some sort of Stockholm Syndrome she had experienced? To this day she wasn’t entirely sure.
He then moved over to the replicator. “What do you fancy Miss Cosgrove? Or should I just start calling you Kristina?” he asked with twinkle in his eye.

She laughed openly. “Miss Cosgrove sounds like I should be a lady in a tea gown with fingerless gloves. Something my mom would probably adore actually. But Kristina is appropriate at this point I think.”

Conrad snickered. “A lady in a tea gown and fingerless gloves? Mother would much prefer things all prim and proper I guess? Well, there’s a time for that sort of thing I suppose. Thankfully it’s not necessary on my ship.” He gave her a wink before adding. “So…Kristina, I assume that tea and crumpets may be a bit too proper? And what sort of delectable edibles would an improper woman desire.” He gave a sly grin, totally fine with the double meaning as he stood at the replicator.

She let out a lilting laugh as she traced his movements. “Well, it really depends on one’s mood I suppose, but I suspect the correct response in such a situation is Humour me,” she said, he eyes gleaming with barely contained mirth. There was something about the way he winked at her that could easily just be Conrad being Conrad, and yet felt more personal.

Conrad gave a throaty laugh as he input the order on the replicator. Soon two small bowls of a chocolate looking ice cream appeared. He picked them both up and set them on the table between them as he sat down. “Every now and then, an afternoon calls for a cold treat. They call it Indulgence on some worlds. To you and I though, its chocolate ice cream with different textures and strengths of the same flavor throughout.”
“I see,” Kristina said with a gleam in her eye and pulled the bowl closer. “It’s been a while since I’ve had ice cream, actually.”
He took a spoonful himself and savored the taste. “Not good to eat too often, but quite enjoyable under the right circumstances.” he said with grin. “What do you think?”

She carved out a swirl with her spoon and slipped her lips over the cold and creamy concoction, her eyes watching him. Yes, she was intentionally making a show of tasting the ice cream and Kristina wasn’t about to apologize for it. “Delightful,” she said.

And here she was. Halai’s younger sister giving him goosebumps perhaps unintentionally. He grinned as he took a slow bite. He gave her a wink and replied, “No that would be you.” He gave her a slight wink as he lightly laughed.
He then leaned back and changed the subject. “So, what brings you back here to the Black Sparrow?” he asked with amused curiosity.
