Eela was such a regular at Sacred Heart for appointments that she didn’t even have to do a formal check-in at the main reception desk anymore. Instead they had a simple little system where she caught the eye of whomever was on duty and they just called up to let the department of the day know she was arriving. In this case, she was due at the Orthopaedic Surgery department in the surgery wing in a few minutes. There were some bonuses about being a publicly known person, and not having to do these extra steps when her medical appointments already took so much of her working days was one of them.

Taking the lift up, Dasca sought out the waiting room and waved to the department receptionist whom was busy with another patient at the desk. She took a seat and waited patiently, pulling out a report thatshe was in the middle of reading.

A few minutes later Ilena, their chief surgical nurse and a Lt in Star Fleet came out. “Eela Dasca.” Ilena knew her of course. They had all been in the auction together. The Betazoid nurse smiled warmly. “How are you today?”

“Morning Ilena,” Dasca said, turning off the PaDD and stuffing it in her bag. “I’m all right, how about yourself?” All right was exceptionally relative, but each day seemed to help a bit more.

“Today has been a good day so far. Always busy, but a good day,” Ilena always seemed to be upbeat and no matter what was going on she had a smile.

She led her back to an exam room and flipped on the biod bed. “Have a seat and we will get your vitals and then we are going to take some images of your spine for Dr. Eraras.”

Setting her bag down and slipping off her dark blue blazer, Eela wore her standard fare to appointment: plain trousers and a nice t-shirt. Without any fuss, she lifted her shirt part-way and took off the brace, setting it to the side and giving her the two seconds it usually took her body to adjust before she slipped up on the biobed with relative ease. The discomfort from a couple days ago had dissipated and was no more than she normally dealt with. It was such that it tended to fade into the background unless she focused on it. “I’m sure Jal’na added it to my chart, but I’ve had to use extra anti-inflammatories lately, and I can feel my heart rate on average is a bit higher but it seems better today.”

Ilena had of course seen the video and the comments along with Dasca’s response. The hospital and police had been inundated with calls and reports. It was sad but a good thing. “It is not surprising considering the stress you have been under. I will tell Eraras though. If you can lay down on your stomach. Your hands by your sides.” Ilena set a massage pillow on the bed for her, “I need to take these images with your spine in alignment as much as possible.”

When Ilena finished she moved the imager out of the way. “Alright, you stay co.fortable and Eraras will be in in a moment.
