BIDDING CLOSED
Dashiel Jones - 40,000 credits

Eela would have been very happy to spend the evening with Karilan but she was most definitely delighted that Dash won. Kenzo’s antics though were not missed and inwardly she was highly amused.

Shrine clapped, “Wonderful! Thank you Ms Dasca and Mr Jones! And thank you to all of our wonderful ladies who volunteered to help by participating.” Agter leading them all in applause, Shrine got her mother bear look and graced the winners with it. “Winners please remember the agreements you signed and to submit your payments before you leave. Everyone please keep an eye on the charity site for totals and how the funds are being used. Thank you all for participating.” An aide came up and handed her a paper. “Ah we have a total 589 bars of latinum and 280,762 credits raised today!” There were more applause. “Thank you everyone. Please stay, enjoy the food and socializing.” Shrine hurried off the stage as the board flashed the total and announced the various winners. She shooed the other ladies off the stage to go mingle.

Shrine

“AND A SCHOLARSHIP FUND!!!” bellowed Lord Duroc who made directly for his wife. Reaching her, he looked down at her and grinned. “You can’t be mad. I didn’t kill them… here.” and he laughed loudly.

Urg, Lord Duroc

Very quickly the board changed and included the scholarship fund for a doctorate in physical therapy from Oed University. Jal’na stared up at him. “Oh yes I can. You did not kill them here in my presence. How am I supposed to taut and flaunt the exceptional prowess of my warrior husband if he does not demonstrate such prowess in front of me?” It was hard for others to tell if Jal’na was joking, serious, or simply teasing him. What was certain was she was not mad.

Hyrushi nodded and spoke briefly with a few people as he made his way unnoticed to one of Shrine’s aids. He whispered something and the aides face looked shocked, but they nodded and bolted towards the back to find Shrine to tell her that the Governor, wishing to remain anonymous, is matching the total funds raised that evening… including the scholarship fund.

Hyrushi moved through the crowd and found Fayth. He waited as the couple she spoke to talked and laughed and when they moved away he stepped towards her and said “I hope you don’t mind my bid. That man is simply awful, and I would not have Star Fleet’s Medical Director subjected to that for an entire evening.”

Hyrushi, Governor

Sharah smiled and bowed her head slightly. “No I don’t mind at all. Thank you. He leaves a rather unpleasant feeling behind him. And his thoughts certainly weren’t on charity.” She snagged a glass of chilled water from a passing server. “Thank you for rescuing me from him, and for your presence. Even if you didn’t come intending to bid, you brought attention to the event. Nurse Shrine is quite thrilled with the outcome.”

Eela swept off the stage and into the crowd, moving with ease. A few people stopped her as she passed and laughed as someone commented on the antics and why yes it was rather amusing, but they were people she knew. Eventually she found her way over to Dash, Cort and Karilan and shook her head. “Well, that could have been embarrassing, but thank you,” she said to Karilan and Dash.

“I half expected Mrs. Davenshore to do a really high bid. I suspected she liked the idea of having the ear of the Lieutenant Governor for the evening,” Cort said, and leaned in giving her a grin. “Consider yourself suitably saved.”

Eela laughed openly. “Well, I guess I am then.”

Karilan looked at Cort and said “You should probably go meet with your victory. Come, you can introduce me.” and they took his arm and moved him towards Dorma Fen.

“I’ve been set up,” Cort deadpanned, earning a smirk from Eela, and then strode away with Karilan saying, “I really don’t think it’s wise to call her my victory, either. I don’t think it will end well.”

“It would end fine for me, but i would recommend caution in dealing with that one, certainly.” Massat said and chuckled.

Mika wanted to find the one who’d won her bid, the Breen. It was going to drive her crazy with nerves if she didn’t just hurry up and meet them. Moving carefully through the crowd, she stood on her tippy toes trying to see if she could see him.

Ilena and Yavia chatted away as they moved around the area with small plates of food in their hands. Yavia was looking for the older couple, and Ilena her bidder. They were BOTH watching Jal’na out of the corner of their eyes. The event had been more than interesting.

Approaching Dorma, Cort gestured to Karlian. “Ms. Fen, I’d like to introduce you to Karilan Massat, the owner and proprietor of Quill and Parchment Books. Karilan, Dorma Fen, the Governor’s Aide.”

~Cort Belanger

“A pleasure, I’m sure. Governor Hyrushi speaks highly of you.” Karilan said sincerely.

Dorma smiled and gave Karilan a small bow. “Thank you. I have been to your store. It is amazing. I love it.” she said and then jade-green eyes flashed at Belanger. “Well… I hope you are happy. Do you know the gossip at the Tower that is going to come of this?” She was either not exactly pleased… or she was a great actor.

His blue eyes met her gaze. Yep, utterly and completely set up. “Probably not any more than any other day,” Cort said with a slight shrug. “But if you are concerned, I am happy to simply consider it a donation for a worthy cause and leave it at that. Otherwise, it’s just a meal between colleagues, no?”

“A meal I’m supposed to cook. In private. So, yeah… ‘no’ is the right term.”

Karilan laughed. “This is going to end in bloodshed… or perhaps children. Could go either way.” and they walked off towards the Governor… who simply looked at Cort and raised his glass to him slightly. Betazoid eyes being what they were, it was impossible to tell if the light was a reflection or a mischievous twinkle.

With a slight sigh, Cort just shook his head and then considered Dorma. “You do realize that the joke is on us, right? The way I see it, we have two options: we can let them have their joke and concede the victory, or we can toss the joke right back at them,” he said, with the barest hint of a smirk.

Dorma looked from him to Hyrushi and Massat, and then back again as understanding dawned on her. “You are quick to lump me in with you, Mr. Belanger. I think the joke is on you… not ‘we’.” She crossed her arms and either considered him, or considered how to eleminate him, it was a toss up from her expression. “However, I do not appreciate being made a pawn of in someone else’s game, so…” and she looked at Hyrushi and smiled wickedly. “I will send you the details on dinner. What to wear. Where to be when. What to bring. You will do as you are told. Understood?”

Cort smiled. “Yes, ma’am,” he said with the tone of the impeccable assistant he was. “And for the record, you do look lovely tonight Ms. Fen,” he added with utter sincerity and matter-of-factness.

She looked at him a moment and then she giggled… and then she slowly reached up put a hand on his shoulder and moved her lips to just barely brushing his and whispered “Treasure this, it is all you ever get.” and she kissed him… and then broke the contact and walked away.

Ever the professional, Cort managed to keep his surprise from his face but it was hard to not wonder what the hell just happened. He watched Fen walk away and inwardly shook off the shock and strode in the opposite direction, grabbing a much needed drink from a server.

If Karilan had had eyebrows, they would have raised in surprise. “Well… children it is.” they said softly.

Alone with Dashiel, Eela grabbed a drink from a passing server and took a sip. “Well, that wasn’t my first public appearance, but I was definitely far more on display.”
“You were great,” Dash said, his warm smile sincere.
She returned the smile. “And do I want to know what all that was with Karilan and the Governor?” Eela asked, watching those crinkles appear at the corners of his eyes.
“You have good friends. They care about you,” he said.
“I do, and it’s mutual.”

They chatted a little while longer and she filled him in about the day and time of the showcase.

Dorma Fen

Moving through the crowd that had thinned a little bit since the high action part of the evening was over, Belanger was trying his best keeping his mind clear and keep an easy smile on his face. After all, regardless of the fun at his expense, this had been a great night and the hospital deserved all their support for their cause. He had been utterly sincere when he had told Dorma that he was happy to consider it a donation.

Cort passed near Eela who was still engaged in conversation with Dashiel and he couldn’t help but smile. There was an ease in his boss he hadn’t seen in her before and it was nice to see. He met her gaze briefly (she wasn’t too preoccupied to not notice focus on her) and he gave her a nod. She smiled back in reply. He finished his drink and headed out.

Karilan watched him leave and then leaned towards Governor Hyrushi. “Should someone tell him that he has lipstick all over his lips?” Hyrushi shrugged slightly and said “I find that shade accentuates his eyes. Maybe he’ll be considered ‘fashion forward’.” He gave a half bow to Karilan and then turned and walked towards Shrine.

Hyrushi, Governor

Eryn nudged her steadfast guard. “I zhink your date is looking for you.” She nodded toward the Star Fleet counselor who was standing on her tip toes trying to see over the crowd. “I vill find Mastik vhile you get acquainted.” Yes, Eryn was doing her utmost to not snicker. What she knew though was that as intimidating as Breen companion might be, Vonn was an exceptional companion and by the time their afternoon was over, the counselor would either be a sharpshooter or hopeless. Either way they would be a positive experience.

Eryn

The Breen’s visor swiveled slightly until it locked on the figure of the Counselor. They moved through the crowd and stopped in front of her. The Breen was almost seven feet in height and, as was typical of their kind, encased head to toe in a suit that his all indications of what the being inside looked like. A synthetic voice said “Lieutenant Mika. I am Kashir Gran. I applaud your choice in activity.”

Vonn / Gran

Mika looked up… and up… and up at the face of the person in front of her. Well, the, uhm, helmet, she supposed. At 5‘3 this person was FAR taller than her. This was every bit as intimidating as she had thought it would be. She was doing her best not to show it as she smiled a wide, friendly grin, “Well, it was better than sports. Or ballet…” Then she gave a nervous chuckle. “It’s good to meet you… Kashir?” She said the name questioningly, as if not sure what was correct to call them.

~ Mika

“Gran. In my species, familial names are first as a way to identify what planet one hails from.” the synthesized voice said. “Tell me… are you a shootist, Lieutenant? Or were you looking for a unique activity to inspire more bidding?”

Vonn / Gran

Mika nodded to acknowledge what to call this person. “Well.... I know how to shoot. I wouldn’t say I’m a ‘shootist’ exactly.” She stated coyly, grinning once again. “I’m more of a pro in martial arts. I wanted an activity that was.... Unique, yes, but also not too.... boring.” She replied, thinking hard about her word choice.
