Belanger nodded. “That will work.” Cort entered it in and looked back up at Tandra, his expression slightly uncertain. “I’m sure the two of you will work out how things look going forward but I know Eela and she’s going to need more of your time for the next while. Between this and the Vren arrival, she’s under an immense amount of pressure, Counsellor. And like all stereotypical starship captains, she’s trying to face it all down and not let anyone see her flinch.” Even though he knew Eela would laugh at him, he managed to not add on the ‘so good luck with that’ that came to mind.

Mika nodded, expression neutral. She was well aware of current Oed events and the effects they might have on those in charge. Something grilled into her on starships, she supposed. Always be aware of the Command team’s headspace.

“Her building has strict security and you’ll need to check in with the Starfleet security officer on duty in the lobby. They’ll be expecting you so it should be pretty seamless and then they’ll clear you to go on up to her place. Don’t be surprised when you get up there and find more agents on duty.” And those are the ones Tandra was actually see.

“Thank you for your time, Lieutenant. If you need to touch base with me for whatever reason, please do,” Cort said before he ended the call.

Mika nodded again, “Will do.” Then the call was ended and it was back to work for her.

Three days later, after a late lunch, Mika headed up to the building and into the lobby, heading to the Starfleet security officer. “Lieutenant Tandra Mika, here for Eela Dasca,” she said with a polite smile.

In the modern and clean building, the security desk was set to the left in the large open lobby. From there, one could see the sets of lifts, with one set farther at the back on its own. To the right was a hallway and large windows that showed a glimpse of a pool. The junior grade Lieutenant working the desk, a Denobulan female, smiled. “Of course, Lieutenant. I just need to do a quick screening. Will only take a moment,” she said, pulling out a scanner and doing a quick sweep of Mika. She logged in the time and results into the computer and gave a nod. “You’re all clear. Captain Dasca’s apartment is on the twelfth floor and that back lift will take you straight up there. We’ll let her know you’re on your way up.”

Mika nodded, “Thank you.” Then she turned and headed up the back lift.

Up the lift, Mika would step out into an entry way in front of a large door that was flanked by two CCDA agents. The small upper floor had only the one penthouse apartment.

Her apartment was essentially a giant rectangle broken up into visible and hidden spaces. They were standing in a large foyer, which had a closet to the right and another door on the left that led to a storage room. But there were also two comfortable arm chairs in a floral pattern on either side of a console table. On the walls were a couple of art pieces: a delicate pencil drawing of some sort of shop with jars of items on shelves behind the counter, and a watercolour style painting of an aurora sweeping over the night sky, illuminating a lush looking hillside. The sight lines from the front door looked right into the open plan dining room, which held double doors amongst the span of floor-to-ceiling windows and led onto the large patio that spanned two-thirds the length of the penthouse. There were no buildings right beside hers that blocked the view, so one could see the central part of the colony in and around the Government Tower.

The dining room had a solid wall on the left (the kitchen was on the other side, and it was divided from the living room on the right by two smooth pillars and a transparent fireplace. A long hallway bisected the entire place, passing in front of the foyer. The hard floors were a black matte stone with white veining, and the walls were painted a light taupe colour that added warmth.

Eela was already at the door and welcomed Mika with a tired smile. “Good afternoon, Tandra,” she said, stepping to the side. “Can I take or hang up anything for you?” she asked.

~Eela

Mika stopped just inside the entrance, doing all she could to hide her awe. This place was nice! And look at that view! She really shouldn’t have expected any less. Alright, Mika, time to refocus. She smiled at Eela, “Good afternoon. How have you been?” She slid off a thin jacket, “Oh, just this.”

And then she was in work mode. “Okay, where are you most comfortable talking with me?” She asked, glancing at the guards. It should ideally be somewhere private.
