The address Karilan gave Eela was to a high security and very tall residential building near city center. Outside was a security gate and guard house, and a large security field, that kept people and vehicles from approaching the building and the beautiful courtyard beyond. As Eela’s slider came near, a guard stepped out and nodded. Her driver slowed and stopped and the window went down. “Good afternoon. May I help- oh! You are Lieutenant Governor Dasca’s party. Please come in.” and they smiled and waved them through.

The slider came to a stop and Eela got out, sans her usual work bag since she was expecting to be back in the office later. Dressed for the office, she was wearing a simple black long sleeved dress but as she moved, one side of the skirt flared out in a silky pleated fabric in black, orange and white. The wind blew some of her loose hair into face and she simply tucked the strands behind her ears. She took a moment to take in the building and its surroundings and smiled before she headed for the entrance.

Tall trees and lunch landscaping covered the approach to the building. Blooming flowers lent a subtle perfume to the air as the slider pulled up to the building’s entry. Large glass doors slid open as Eela and her security detail approached, and another security officer sat at a desk on the left side of the lobby. The guard stood and said “Lieutenant Governor, welcome. Mx. Massat is expecting you. Lift is at the back of the lobby.” and they gestured. “I’ll unlock it for you when you get there. Your detail is welcome to wait here after attending to your arrival, of course.”

“Thank you,” Eela said with a gracious nod before heading for the lift.

Inside the lift there were only two buttons in the lift: one above the other. After pressing the top one, the doors closed and the lift moved quickly up the outside of the building.

She watched the shifting landscape with interest and felt very glad that she had no fear of heights.

The doors opened directly into a very large apartment with soft gray accents and a variety of furniture around the place… most likely pieces from Karilan’s collection. A small entry way with three wide steps down led to an open living room with large couches and chairs centered in the room to form a square around a low table that appeared to be made entirely of some kind of pale rose-colored crystal. To the far left was a large kitchen area, and a dining area was past the kitchen and left of the living room. A hall was visible on the far right side of the living room. Floor to ceiling windows walled the entirety of the living and dining rooms, and the view was almost the entirety of the city. A large balcony wrapped around the place and was set with lounge chairs and tables. They were at least eighty stories up… making the building one of the tallest in the city.

“Welcome to my home.” Karilan said as the doors opened, standing in the living room. “Please, come in.” and they looked at the Security detail. “Feel free to look anywhere you like.”

There was a reason most people came to Eela’s, because she couldn’t imagine many not being weirded out by the screening process. She still was even if she accepted it as a part of the job. She stepped up to Karilan and gave them a warm hug of greeting. “Good day,” she said, clearly in a great mood.

Her security did a quick sweep and gave Dasca a nod before they let themselves out and headed back down and wait with the building security.

“This is a fantastic place, Karilan,” Eela said taking the whole place in as she turned in place, her heeled boots sounding on the tiled floor.

“Thank you. I was really lucky to find it when I arrived. Fortunately the former owner was a friend of my Aunt’s, and they made me a great offer.” They looked around and smiled. “It does feel like home. I think that has to do with my Aunt’s furniture. If you had told me three years ago I would have a place to use it, I would have scoffed.” and they smiled at Eela. “I’m glad I didn’t get rid of it.” and they chuckled. “Come on back and we can get started.” and they turned and led Eela down the hallway. They passed one room and Karilan pointed and said “Business attire in that room.” The next, “Masculine dress.” and then the next “Feminine.” and then they led her into the master bedroom.

It was an immense space, but still warm and relaxing. Two walls were floor to ceiling glass, and in the corner where they met was a large ped on a raised section of floor. Two dressers, a large vanity, and two closets were around the room, and an open door led into a large bath area. Karilan pointed at a closet and said “Wigs.” and pointed at the other and said “Things I don’t think the Governor will have an interest in seeing.” and they laughed.
