Eela downed the last of her daiquiri, squashing the rise of feelings she wasn’t sure she could deal with just now. Of places and pieces of her that seemed so far away as to feel inaccessible. For now. That and it had ben another extraordinarily long day. It wasn’t all that late yet, but there was a lot to digest, including the reactions to her response. But for a moment she just sat and absorbed the positive feelings surrounding her before she knew it was time.

“I think I’m going to turn in and try and get some sleep,” she said softly. “Thank you for a lovely evening. I needed this.”

~Eela

Charles set the guitar aside and stood up and walked to her. He wrapped her up in a big bear hug (gently, of course), and then let her go. “Go sleep. I’ll make breakfast in the morning, and then you can decide if you need some more time, or you wanna go back and tackle life again. You can stay as long as ya want.”

Eela inhaled deeply and nodded. “I need to go back to my home. It’s not the first time Cory Fletcher has driven me from it, but it sure as hell is the last,” she said softly.

Sharah carefully extradited herself from a half awake Yavia and hugged the older woman. “If you need anything just ask.” Yavia waved, “‘Night Eela.” She yawned loudly as Sharah sat back down next to her. Sharah gave Charles a grin. “I don’t think she will be awake much longer either.”

Sharah

“Good night,” Eela said, slipping back into the house. She was tempted to see about maybe a milder dose of a sedative, but she would see how she fared. Goodness knows she was tired enough. Back downstairs in her room, she got herself ready for bed.

~Eela

Charles looked at Sharah and smiled. “Stay here, I’ll be right back.” He went to V and scooped her up, kissing her and carrying her inside. He made sure she was settled and comfortable in bed, and that Eela had everything she needed; and then he went back outside. He picked up the guitar and began playing.

Sharah took the glasses back to the outdoor kitchen and cleaned up. Sharah returned to the couch and pulled a blanket out of the storage under the seat. She sat back and smiled, feeling the love and affection swirling between Yavia and Charles. She laughed quietly as she heard Yavia’s protest and attempts to get Charles to stay before she gave up and fell asleep. When Charles returned and started playing she turned, curled up on the seat, and watched him play.

My whole view of the world has changed
I guess that comes with age
I don’t believe there is good in every man
Like I did back then

And I may drink more than I should
You’ve seen me on the floor
I’ve spent my lifetime in this cage I’ve built around me
Bangin’ on the doors

And no words
Could ever say how much I need you
With you here
You make this life I live worth livin’

Heaven knows I’ve broke your heart
I can’t take that away
All I’m worth is just this promise that I’ve made to you
To stand beside you just like you have stood beside me

And no words
Could ever say how much I need you
With you here
You make this life I live worth livin’

And you could be much better off
God knows, without me
And that’s why
I just can’t find the words

You could be much better off
God knows, without me
And that’s why
I just can’t find the words

The words moved through her like fire and fate. She felt their meaning both as narrator and audience. She waited and when he was done playing, she stood up, took his guitar, and set it aside. Sharah curled up on his lap and then kissed his cheek near his jaw. She had no words, but she didn’t any. She just laid there against him, arms around him and existed in his presence.

Sharah

He held her close and just said “I love you, Sharah.” No conditions… no ‘the three of us’… just her and him. His mind told her all he saw in her… all he felt… and how truly happy he was with her.

Tenkiller

There was no need to rush her response, to reply immediately. To the outside observer, she did not. Sharah did not trust herself or her talents, and certainly not her control. But, over the weeks, Charles assertion and strength that she could trust him, that she was safe with him, was altering from instinct to conscious acceptance. That she could open her soul with him and nothing horrible would happen. So her body didn’t move, her respiration didn’t change, her lips didn’t utter. Instead he felt a deep pool of emotion - Love; acceptance for who he was and the way he was; that she saw, felt, the truth of him and she was proud, awed; happiness; hope; excitement for everything they were and the future; and peace and gratefulness for the day they had shared. Then quietly as if she had whispered in his ear, ‘I love you, Charles.

Sharah

He smiled at her and said “I love you too, Sharah.” He kissed her and smiled as he did so. “Its nice ta have ya all the way here. It feels amazin’.” and he grinned wickedly. “Ya know… the weather’s nice. Both ‘a the girls inside are asleep… and that couch right there is super comfortable.” and he let his mind conjure the thoughts of what that couch could be used for.

The next morning…

The music started suddenly and filled the entire house. It was a human song, a classic form hundreds of years prior, and the woman singing had a power and conviction behind her voice that lent force to the words she sang:

Yavia and Sharah woke as soon as TK got out of bed. They were all light sleepers by necessity, and the two ladies of the house had to be to work early that day. As was their routine, Yavia was braiding…aka playing…with Sharah’s hair when the music started. With shared grins they rushed the door and stared with laughter.

I do my hair toss
Check my nails
Baby how you feelin’?
Feeling good as hell
Hair toss
Check my nails
Baby how you feelin’?
Feeling good as hell

Years of being able to fall asleep quickly and awake at the slightest alert meant that Eela had been awake instantly. What the hell? Confusion swept across her face as she bolted upright in bed.

Woo child, tired of the bullshit
Go on dust your shoulders off, keep it moving
Yes Lord, tryna get some new shit
In there, swimwear, going to the pool shit
Come now, come dry your eyes
You know you a star, you can touch the sky
I know that it’s hard but you have to try
If you need advice, let me simplify

If he don’t love you anymore
Just walk your fine ass out the door

Tenkiller was in jeans with no shirt walking down the hall between the bedrooms, singing along and tossing his hair and checking his nails. He pounded on Eela’s door in time with the music and laughed.

Yavia shoved Sharah out the door into the hallway and followed her. Yavia had no qualms about joining TK in his little runway show, and whether Sharah wanted to or not she was dragged into it. After a moment, V and TK discovered something they didn’t know before - Sharah could dance. Like the music flowed through her veins and set the beat of her pulse. She danced like TK could sing.

I do my hair toss
Check my nails
Baby how you feelin’?
Feeling good as hell
Hair toss
Check my nails
Baby how you feelin’?
Feeling good as hell
Feeling good as hell
Baby how you feelin’?
Feeling good as hell

She had been summoned apparently. Wearing an amused smirk, Eela appeared from her room and moved up the stairs in her pyjamas (a floral t-shirt and bottom set in a green and blue). Eela watched Tenkiller and she was really trying to not laugh but the sight was comical and yet… and yet. Between the beat and the lyrics and his expression she couldn’t help herself. Apparently it was a morning dance party and there was nothing for it but to join in.

Woo girl, need to kick off your shoes
Got to take a deep breath, time to focus on you
All the big fights, long nights that you been through
I got a bottle of Tequila I been saving for you
Boss up and change your life
You can have it all, no sacrifice
I know he did you wrong, we can make it right
So go and let it all hang out tonight

‘Cause he don’t love you anymore
So walk your fine ass out the door

And do your hair toss
Check my nails
Baby how you feelin’?
Feeling good as hell
Hair toss
Check my nails
Baby how you feelin’?
Feeling good as hell
Hair toss
Check my nails
Baby how you feelin’?
Feeling good as hell
Hair toss
Check my nails
Baby how you feelin’?
Feeling good as hell

Listen, if he don’t love you anymore
Then walk your fine ass out the door

And do your hair toss
Check my nails
Baby how you feelin’?
Feeling good as hell
Hair toss
Check my nails
Baby how you feelin’?
Feeling good as hell
Hair toss
Check my nails
Baby how you feelin’?
Feeling good as hell
Hair toss
Check my nails
Baby how you feelin’
Feeling good as hell
Feeling good as hell
Baby how you feelin’?
Feeling good as hell

If there was anywhere she could be herself and not be self-conscious, it was here in this house. And so Eela danced. No, she didn’t spin the way she wanted or do anything bouncing that would aggravate her spine, but even without her brace it was clear that Eela knew how to move her body. Even more so after three nights ago. She flowed with the music, gave into it and let the words seep into her until a big grin settled onto her face.

~Eela, Dancing Diva

Sharah doing a hair toss was either impressive or scary. There was a reason she called her hair Medusa like. Her curls had a mind of their own. But Yavia…well with no hair to toss she just randomly used Sharah or TK’s hair and would laugh. As the song ended they both ended up with an arm around him and each kissed his cheeks. “We need to do that every day.” Yavia laughed.

“Lizzo every morning? Hmmm… starting the day with classical music. I like it.” Charles said with a smile. “And good morning to all the beautiful women in the house! I am willing to bet that no one else on Oed spent the night with three more lovely and amazing women. Four, counting Lizzo.”

“Morning Eela. How did you sleep?” Sharah glanced at the clock. “Yavia, we gotta get ready. We are supposed to be there early today.”

Yavia

Charles looked at Eela and said “I’m off till 1400. I can help you with the apartment, if you want.”
