“That’s exactly why being ‘fashionably late’ was invented.” Jezem said with a quiet huff of amusement. Passenger ships, of all shapes, sizes and quality held one universal constant: that they were reliably consistently late. He glanced over at the pending arrivals board, noted the delays marked next to the name of each ship due to arrive. Those numbers were never accurate. She could be stuck here for a while. “Sounds like to me your sister will be pulled into the nearest shuttle the moment her feet touches ground.”

Jezem

“Oh, probably. I just can’t guarantee I’ll be here to greet her as she hoped,” Sherri said with a chuckle. “Do you come up here to people watch often?” She liked to as well, especially soon after arriving at a new assignment but she’d been on Oed awhile now and she spent most of her time work time moving about getting things done or working from a desk. But some days she’d stop in Sloane Square for a time and just take in everyone going about their lives.

Lt. Sherri Watts

“When the mood strikes me,” He answered, perhaps a bit cryptically, “The spaceport often provides more entertainment than watching the square.” Not that Sloane Square was a bad place to people watch but often the people who visited the square were relaxed and docile. There was no rush, no sense of urgency or drama or really any variation beyond happy people going about with their happy lives.

“Oh, that I can see. I just don’t get up here very often. No need to really,” she said.

He studied her for a moment, “You strike me as someone with a fancy title and an important job,”

Jezem

Sherri chuckled. “Oh, well I don’t know about fancy but I do think my job is important. I’m in Starfleet and I’m the aide-de-camp to our Commander-in-Chief, who also happens to be the Lieutenant Governor. But all that really means is I’m her assistant for the Starfleet side of her job. My name’s Sherri by the way,” she said, pressing her hand to her chest with a smile.

Lt. Sherri Watts

Interesting. “Jezem of Argam,” He said, introducing himself in a Ferengi way of introduction, “I’m a trophy husband.” He added with coy smirk. “You must be quite busy these days, what with all the big announcements.” The news has been abuzz for days now. Not that any of it mattered to him.

Jezem

“Oh, for sure! It’s been pretty non-stop.” Watts noted the way Jezem referred to himself and though curious had also traveled enough to know to restrain her curiosity and not ask unless there was clear invitation or she knew the person well enough to know it was okay to. “When you’re not people watching, what do you like to do, Jezem?”

Lt. Sherri Watts

Jezem shrugged, “Things. . . I take care of the house, cook meals for my husband and whatever else I feel like doing. Some days that’s people watching, other days that’s doing something new for the sake of it.” And since that was a bit vague he added, “I don’t know. . . I’ve never had so much free time.” Absolutely terrible in the early days. Going from a high-stakes, high-paced lifestyle to that of a simple househusband came with a long and turbulent transitioning period. It wasn’t until he settled into this new life that he found the patience and motivation to explore the open world before him.

“You’re probably more interesting than I am,” He finished with a soft huff.
