The Golden Klaxut Market was shaped like a gilded egg on its end and looked roughly three or four stories tall. It sold high end home goods and accessories to the residents of Oed V and was the headquarters and flagship location of the Klaxut Market empire.

Helmed by Ferengi Norb, Head of Risan Guest Relations, Ditka Starrrr and her team of Risan salesfolk, the Golden Klaxut Market existed to meet your needs–the gimmick was, all the items on display were holograms until the dear customer handed over the latinum.

Inside, 2 floors of gorgeous home goods, jewelry, clothes, and accessories from Alpha Centauri to Zeta Prime. A shopping destination, a community gathering place, an art gallery.

But today, Ditka was the only one behind the counter. The other Risans who Norb had hired were still on their way from the pleasure planet to Oed before thecreal Grand Opening, and they were still in the soft opening process, welcoming people in very unofficially.

She had spent the entire week previous setting up the holosuites with rooms that customers could experience before picking their items, and had set up a special reception area for guests who wanted a more bespoke experience and view items from their warehouse.

She waited for a customer to come in, checking for any news about Hinky on her PADD in the meantime. Maybe something would come together before too long.

Finally released from the hospital and given temporary accommodations (as a part of her release so the powers that be knew they were going to be safe), Lai was getting anxious in their small apartment. So she ventured a short ways into the community around them. Seeing the intriguingly shaped and cladded building, Lai ventured in, all too aware of the looks some people gave her. She assumed that it was because she resembled a pervious well known person on Oed and had resigned herself to the fact that until people understood she was a different person (and not Halai Cosgrove’s twin), she was going to get surprised looks often.

Stepping in the half-Tyrellian was surprised and stopped after a couple steps as her gold-ringed hazel eyes took in the market. It was so much bigger on the inside than it seemed. Her mass of corkscrew curls was loose and so far she had managed to gather a few outfits, but certainly not a lot. A basic set of black trousers and a vibrant teal tunic were good enough for now.

Ditka heard the sliding doors worship open and felt that weird mix of indoor/outdoor air before she was the curky-haired woman who seemed to be looking around the Klaxut with a little bit of unfamiliarity.

Finally! Ditka thought.

The Risan woman put down her PADD and brushed the jumja stick crumbs off her blouse and stepped out from behind the counter, her biggest customer service smile on her face. After all, she was a product of the best schools of Risa.

“Hello! Welcome to the Golden Klaxut Market, where you can take our holograms home in the form of furnishings. I’m Ditka, and I’ll be assisting you today,”
she said brightly. “If you want, I can give you a short tour of the space, or I can just let you browse. Your choice!”

She put her hands up nonconfrontationally.

Lai had at least the benefit of really being new and not knowing anything about this, so she took in Ditka and gave a nod. “A tour would be nice actually,” she said, her accent lyrical and rich. She was doubtful about her ability to purchase anything, at least at this time. Her status was too uncertain, but maybe if there was something small that might make their apartment feel more homey.

“Absolutely!” Ditka said. “I’m Ditka, the Head of Guest Relations. Follow me.”

Past the entryway, the first floor was decorated in blacks and golds. Display cabinets with randomly-generating knick-knacks of all sorts–vases, gold nuggets, art objects, watches–shuffled through as if on a rotation. There was a small seat behind a check out area where items would materialize upon purchase.

“This is where I check out customers,” Ditka said, beginning her tour.

Lai followed with an intense curiosity, taking in all the details. The outside of the building had intrigued but she should have guessed a bit more quickly that today might not be the day she should step in here. All information was worth having though, so for now she’d absorb the details for another day when she was more prepared.

In an attached room was a VIP area for bespoke ordering experiences, but first she’d have to walk Lai through the main showroom.

“What do ya think? See anything you like or have any questions?”

“You have an exceptional space and it seems like you probably have many interesting items on offer,” Lai said. She had been in places like this before, under very different circumstances.

Not long after Lai walked into The Golden Klaxut Market a dark curly-haired woman entered the establishment. Samikah was not there for a particular purpose just curious about the place and wondered if they had something Aiofemi would like. She also had a list of people she was to pick up gifts for. As Lai and Ditka talked she took a stroll and eyed merchandise. I wonder if they have any Halanan vases. she thought as she walked around.

Samikah, AAMSS

“Hello!” Ditka hollered. “Can I help you as you take a look around? I’m in the process of a tour right now and I can be right with you afterwards.”

-Ditka Starrrr

Samikah raised her hand and then said, “I am fine. Just looking at the moment. Although I do have a question.” She looked at Lai, “Of course after your finished with your tour.”

Samikah, AAMSS

Lai waved her concern off. “Don’t worry about it. I don’t mind waiting,” she said, exuding a patient demeanour as she ran her fingers through her corkscrew curls, taking in the space more widely before also taking in Samikah. There was something energetically that she could detect and it felt somehow congruous with her own. Jaxsyn would also be able to detect that there was something going on with Lai on a psi level.

Ditka paused. “Thank, if you’ll excuse me!”

She left Lai to the selection of woven scarves and cloth items on display from Bajor and walked over to where Samikah waited.

“I’d be happy to answer any questions, or you could join us for a little walk along? Technically this is just a soft open–normally, my sales team would be here to help as well, but you just got me and the boss Norb and he’s out on business today,” she said the the woman apologetically.

Bump

Samikah felt some type of energy emulate from the other woman in the store. She tried her best not to obviously stare at the woman. She never made eye contact with her. There were so many beings on the planet and she couldn’t be sure the woman would not take offense. As Ditka came over and spoke she said, “Huh? Oh I am sorry. I was distracted.” Samikah paused and then asked, “I was wondering if you sold any Halanan or Japanese style vases?”
