Séan had gotten free of his duties for the day, well all except for the one that got put off and forgotten about. He sighed for the millionth time as he made his way to the infirmary. He really didn’t mean to forget the required physical but time had gotten away from him. He arrived at his destination, took a breath and straightened his uniform, then entered into the waiting area. He moved to the reception desk and gave the person sitting at it a warm, if slightly shy smile. “Hello. I’m told that this is where physical for Starfleet personnel can be done.”

The medic at the desk smiled, “Of course, Lt. We can take care of that.” The man slid a palm biometric reader towards him. “If you will scan your palm the computer will pull up your medical file.”

Séan put his palm on the reader.

The man nodded and transfered the file to a PaDD. “This way.” He led him to a biobed about halfway into the room and flipped on the sensors. “Have a seat. Dr. Fayth will be with you in just a moment.” The medic walked over to a short, ebony curly haired woman in Medical blue and handed her the PaDD. She took it with a smile and then turned back to the child and father she was with. She spoke with them a moment longer and then gave the girl a lollipop as they left.

He sat on the biobed and waited. The wait wasn’t long and his mind wasn’t bored.

She walked over and set the PaDD down. “Lt. Iven. It’s nice to see you. I’m Dr. Fayth. How are you settling in?” As she spoke she pulled out and flipped open a tricorder. Pulling out the hand held wand, “May I?”

Fayth, SFCMO

“Hello Doctor Fayth.” Séan returned the greeting with his rumbling deep voice. “I’ve been settling in alright. A planet is so much different from a ship or a starbase that I still haven’t quite adjusted to not feeling that vibration.”

Her obsidian eyes danced, “That does take some getting used to. Ancient seafarers used to report getting land sickness after being at sea for long stretches of time. Experiencing any nausea or vertigo now that you’re planetside?” Her hand moved over and around him as she took basic scans and then compared them to his last recorded physical.

Fayth, SFCMO

Séan shook his head as the medical scanning commenced. “Nothing like that fortunately. My balance isn’t affected by the change in location. It’s just the ambient feeling is different. I’ve spent the majority of my life in space so going planetside always takes some adjustments. Even Earth standard gravity varies almost imperceptibly on different ships. My childhood was on Alpha Eridani which is heavier than Earth and then the rest of my life in space, so every change is new.” The scan would line up with his last physical about two weeks prior. He showed to be in good health with a surprisingly low body fat given his stature. His records would show that he had a scar circling his right thigh that scar removal treatment had been refused.

Counselor Iven

She smiled softly. “I had a similar but opposite experience, the first time I went into space. The constant vibration took some getting used to.” She slipped the scanner back into her tricorder and closed it. “You have some inoculations that haven’t had a booster in awhile. Being on a colony this size and the number of refugees arriving, we’re requiring everyone close to time or it’s been over 5 years to get them. I don’t see anything in your file against inoculations. Is it alright if I give them to you?”

Fayth, SFCMO

“Yes, please.” Séan said as he nodded at Sharah with smile. “I think they were supposed to do all of that before the transfer here but everything ended up being a bit of a cluster. My shuttle was five days late, I didn’t get a briefing or any material to read, and the pilot was doing the run here for the first time so they had no idea what I was about to walk into to. Which made my meeting with Captain McBride show me how woefully unprepared I was. I’ve been handling my case load, researching everything I can find regarding the Vren and their impact and historical significance on Oed V, and try my hardest to not put my foot into my mouth with Lieutenant Mika.”

Counselor Iven

“The situation with the Vren is tense and promising.” Sharah stepped over to a cabinet and after entering a code and pressing her palm to the scanner it opened. She loaded a hypo and walked back over. “Oh, I think you’ll be fine. I was one of Lt Mika’s cadets. I have stuck my foot in my mouth plenty of times. She won’t hold it against you. Though she’ll remind you if necessary.” The Betazoid doctor laughed. She pressed the hypo to his arm and there was a faint pop-hiss. “You might have a low grade fever over the next day, but it should go away. You can come back if you need to.”

She glanced at the PaDD again. “Your record shows you were on medical leave for a year. Tell me about that.”

Fayth, SFCMO

“I was attacked by a patient during a session. I shouldn’t have turned my back to them in their agitated state but I was hoping that some tea would calm them down.” Séan grimaced slightly at the thought. “In the very short time that they hit me in the head and pounced on me, they nearly severed my leg at the thigh before the shipboard AI reacted and beamed me to sickbay and them to the brig. The rapid blood loss and head trauma had me out of it for a couple of days. After recovery, at least physically, it was recommended that I take some leave before jumping back into it.”
