Ylana shifted her position a little and leaned on him so her head rested on his shoulder. She nodded. We’ll make it work.

After a moment of silence, her demeanour shifted slightly to one of deep thoughtfulness. Leamas is tricky. Seeing him tonight reminded me that he has the ability to bring out my abilities in ways I’ve not really tested before. I’ve always been afraid of them, bent on keeping them under control. Moset’s experiments made me fear them greatly, that if I ever really tried using them, I’d be a monster like he was. Rarely was she this candid about her feelings on this topic. While she had no secrets from Michael usually, her experiences during the occupation of Betazed and her subsequent use as an experiment subject were something she rarely ever brought up. It was in the past and remained there… at least until times like this made those memories rear their ugly head. What if… what if I’ve been going about it the wrong way all this time? What if I should be testing my telekinesis and stretching it, rather than just controlling it?

It had not taken long for Michael to respond at all. I don’t see why you couldn’t test them. I think it is wise to consider any medical issues that could come up. But, in the end, what Moset may have meant for evil, you can use good. What he did wasn’t right, but the telekinesis is not an agent of bad things. It’s a tool. Much like one might use a hammer to build a house or to hurt someone. Once you learn how to use it one way, expanding your knowledge of it might become easier in other ways. And it may be better to know what you can do before finding others who might know more about it than you do.

There is truth in that, she mused.

Michael’s wife was unique in many aspects, but her telekinesis had made her stand out to most. Or at least to those who knew of her abilities. He remembered meeting her for the first time, and could recall that it wasn’t the telekinesis that he was attracted to. In fact, she had found that out rather quickly when he had brought her belongings that she had left in his ready room back to her quarters. The memory briefly came to surface, especially having considered the news she just shared.

Knowing she likely read that memory as well, he put the thought away, keeping his focus on her concerns right now.

But as the memory slipped into her own mind, Ylana couldn’t help but smile. They had been through so much together, strengthened by their bond and the love that had come swiftly out of that very intense initial attraction. How quickly she had let him in to her life, to her joys and hurts. That very first day she had shown him the vase her mother had made that she had Ylana to paint with small flowers. It was one of the few objects of her mother’s she had any real attachment to.

Sitting up, she turned to Michael and gently reached out with her hands, turning his face to her and resting her hands on the sides of his face. Not a day goes by that I don’t think how lucky and blessed we are to have found each other and made it through the difficult times. I do love you, Michael Halloway. More than I know what to do with some days.

Halloway wasn’t one to typically grin constantly. He kept a fairly serious demeanor most of the time, but for her, he would always let it slip. He grinned. And I love you Imzadi. he replied as he put his hands to her face and kissed her a moment.

I never doubted it for a moment.

It had not taken long for the slider to arrive at the Governor’s Mansion. With a mischievous smile, he moved a strand of her blonde hair back behind her ear and added, We could continue this inside if you like.

I think that’s an excellent plan, especially since Nikala should be asleep, she said with a wink. Despite her trepidation, Ylana felt warm and cozy in her love for him. It was wrapped around them both so tightly that all it needed was a moment like this to be remembered and embraced.
