Amelia headed to her office at the medical center. She would be dividing her time between here and the government building. As she walked in the front door she greeted the security officer that was on duty, showed her ID and headed toward the lift to go to the second floor where her office was. Unlocking the door, she found a spacious corner office that overlooked the atrium below as well as the skyline of OED. She sat her bag on one of the chairs and opened up her computer and logged in and requested that several crates be transported to the office. These had some of her belongings in them and they would make the office a bit more homey.

ONe of the first things that Amelia did was pull up the duty roster for all departments. She wanted to meet with all of the department heads and get a status report for each of them. She figured they were not used to having a director in place based on the conversation that she had with the Lt. Governor. She knew that things were often different out here, but she also knew that the quality of care could not suffer because of location. It was going to take her a day or two to get settled and then she would start her round of meetings.

She would find that SF Medical Services, which covered several Sick Bays and other smaller facilities and services had been left in the less than capable hands of Lt. Fornworth. A dedicated young female human Lt but whose experience was not a match for the job.

Amelia touched her comm badge =^=Lt FOrnworth, please report to the Chief Medical Officer’s office.=^=She said realizing that the Lieutenant was probably in way over her head and wanted to relieve some of that stress so that she could focus on her job.

While Amelia waited for Fornworth to arrive, it was also possible that Fornworth was not on duty yet, she would need to get out and check each of the floors and make sure that everything was moving smoothly. Amelia wanted to wait for a bit before doing that so that she could finish getting her office set up and make sure that she had duty rosters created so that everything was covered.

For over 20 years, Katherine had checked in with Medical at every facility, station and ship the Fleet had sent her to. So it was no surprise when she headed there the day after arriving on OED. The young woman looked far below her 40 yrs of age, but her medical records read every minute of it. From a broken leg as a child jumping from a tree, to various strains, pops, dislocations and broken or cracked bones she got as a pilot and trainer and student of bat’leth training in her spare time. She had a medical record that made most Doc’s shake their head in bewilderment. She had slowed down significantly in the last 5 years. But she still found herself stepping into medical on the station and looking to see who was around. Her oddly colored blue eyes scanning the room as her hand absently checked her braid out of habit. She wasn’t in uniform and the realization her hair was in a single plait down her back was a reminder to her of that. “Hello?”

Amelia looked up “Come in.” She said waving the new person into her office. “How can I help you?” She asked standing up to greet the newcomer.

CMO

Amelia gestured to a chair “Are you new to OED?” She asked Katherine.

CMO

<bump>

Amelia waited for Katherine to answer her and looked at the information on her screen from both the hospital and human services. There hadn’t been anyone on OED in this position for a while now. She wondered just why people kept leaving. She had worked in some rough conditions, she had heard rumors about OED and what happened here, thus far, she really didn’t see much of what had been reported. Granted she had only been on the station for a little less than 48 hours.
