Tyra had left Xavier’s office and was back at her office going over the final details of the computer upgrades. She sent out notices to all of the departments that the computers would be down for a period of two or three hours on the specific days and each computer terminal would need to be left on so that the upgrade could be run. Tyra included the schedule of dates that she would be doing this. It would all be done during the night time hours when the fewest people would be affected.

Tyra leaned back in her chair and sighed. The upgrades were necessary, however, it meant long hours for her teams. She turned to one of the other consoles on her desk and began making detailed plans of how the upgrades were going to go.

CE

It was well after 2 a.m. when Tyra finally left her office and headed to her quarters. In her satchel she carried a number of PaDDs with information on them that she would read over as she fixed her dinner/early breakfast. She had Emma working on Alpha shift so she could sleep in if needed. It wasn’t often that Tyra slept in, however, this might be the one time. This upgrade was going to drive her crazy. She knew that she had sent out notices rather late and didn’t except anyone to answer. She arrived at her quarters and dropped the bag next to the door.

CE

Tyra ended up falling asleep on her sofa and ended up sleeping until almost 9 a.m. When she did wake up, it took her a minute to realize where she was and then stumbled into the sonic shower to get ready for work. The fun would begin the following night.

Tyra made her way back to her office. Walking into the engineering building, she was greeted by the security officer on duty and provided her credentials to enter the secure part of the building. Walking into her office, she found numerous padds on her desk from the night shift. She glanced through them quickly and then sighed =^=Emerson, please come to my office.=^= She said as she began prioritizing the PaDDs for the day shift.

Elizabeth Emerson appeared just as suddenly as Tyra had called her “Here are some things that came in overnight. I need you to take a team and start working on these things.” She said as Beth nodded “When do we start the upgrades?” She asked as Tyra took a long drink of her coffee “Tonight at 8 p.m. We’ll start with the government building.” She said “Let’s get these things knocked out and then we’ll focus on that.”

CE

Tyra worked on the final logistics of the upgrade for OED and by the time 8 p.m. rolled around, they were ready. She and four other engineers headed for the government building, tool kits in hand and began working in the main computer room at the building, and then branching out to each floor, there were a few hiccups in the process and it took a bit longer to get the upgrades installed than anticipated, however by 1 a.m. the computers in the Government Building had been upgraded and updated and were back on line. Returning to her office, Tyra sent out a message to the employees at the building letting them know that the upgrades had been completed and if they had any issues to notify the engineering department immediately.

Finishing up a few minor details at her office, Tyra finally headed for her quarters at 3 a.m. and fell asleep on the sofa almost as soon as she sat down.

CE

The following morning, or rather afternoon, found Tyra waking up and getting ready for another long night of updating the computer systems on OED. Tonight was sciences and security. The security upgrade was a bit more extensive than the others and that was going to take longer. Since the engineers had to have special clearance for that upgrade, Tyra would end up doing that one herself. It was going to be tedious, so as she prepared for the day, she checked her messages and found there were no known complications with the upgrade from the night before, which made her happy. She made something to eat and headed for her office.

CE

Arriving at her office, she dropped her bag by the door and sank into her chair. Tonight’s upgrades included the hospital/medical bays and the school. She stared at a list of repairs that needed to be made at various places. Some were new, others were ongoing problems that they had not yet found solutions for yet. She waited for the rest of her team to arrive so that they could start making repairs and prepare for the upgrades that night.

CE

Tyra looked at the clock on her wall and headed down to main engineering where the team had arrived. Tyra looked around “Okay, everyone. These are the things that we need to get done before tonight. We have several things that need repaired. Each of you have had two tasks assigned to you.” She said “Get these done so that we have time to get everything rolled out tonight.”

CE

“Yes ma’am” came the voices from all over the main engineering office.

Then a small group of the workers seemed to be doing some kind of drawing of lots or similar and one of them, a short red head with her hair in the style of an ‘fro approached Tyra.

“Please ma’am, can we have some more?” she asked, holding a padd out towards the Chief Engineer, “we’ve finished those tasks given to us, and we want something more to do, please.”

Tyra looked at the data on the PaDD “I need you to go to the school and work on getting the computers there ready for the upgrade tomorrow night. Make sure that all data is backed up to the main computer so that it can be easily accessed through there. She said “Thank you for getting these things done so quickly.”

CE

Tyra looked around and got ready to go start working at the school. THey needed to get everything done so that they could be up and running in the morning for the kids. This upgrade was wearing her down. She was tired of working lots of overtime and she wondered what was going on with Sidney. She hadn’t seen him for a few days and wondered if things were getting busy at the government building.

CE

Walking into Rabbitus Memorial School, she headed directly to the main computer core, her bag slung over her shoulder with the data sticks that would be needed. She took a few minutes to shut down the computer system so that she could start the upload when she restarted the system. It would take about 2 hours.

CE

Tyra walked around the computer room and began setting up for the update. She started the download and then sat back and watched to make sure that everything happened the way it was supposed to.

CE

At approximately 4 a.m., the update finished. Tyra rebooted the main computer core at the school and waited for everything to come up and made sure that all systems were functioning correctly. She left a message for the principal to contact her if there were any problems in the morning when the students started trying to work on their lessons.

Once the building was secured, Tyra dismissed her team and headed for her office to grab her bag and head home. This was the last update that needed to be done and they could now get back to other things.
