Main Sim: Something Wicked This Way Comes

Posted Sept. 19, 2018, 8:11 a.m. by Captain Shirazi Thorne (Captain) (D Grisham)

He peered in after Pretha. “Do you see anything, Lt?” Winston asked. He wasn’t sure what to expect .. between a nasty blood stain to a starving two headed Targ. For the latter he would be pleased that the security chief was between him and it to protect him. Or provide for an appetizer.
- Hillchurch, Eng

Pretha smiled at the timid voice trying to sound brave behind her. “Nothing that will jump out and bite, Churchill, I assure you.” She tried to keep the snicker from her voice. As she looked about she tried to see if there was any evidence of what had been here, or shoved the body here, that the beam out might have missed.

Stepping over next to Collin, “Doctor, can you confirm the blood found here belongs to Ensign Gully?”

“Not yet, but should be able to any moment now,” Collin frowned at his slowly processing tricorder. (GM?)

Nothing further could be found within the Jefferies tube. The site gulzar bloodstain from where the body had lain the only sign of foul play.

=^= Sural to the XO and Mr Hillchurch. Further investigation shows that the suspect did a poor attempt at covering up his work in Transporter Room 3. Moreover, cross comparisons show that Ensign Gilly was in his quarters at the time of transport. =^= A pause. =^= Perhaps there may be further corrobative evidence where you are to assist in filling in this mystery. =^=

Hillchurch looked to those around him =^= I’ll pass that on, Chief =^= he said, though knew that this was broadcast to those around him already.

The Captain’s gaze took in everyone in the small group. “Alright, I want to hear everyone’s ideas. We are looking at a murder here, so I’m willing to entertain even the very outlandish. First of all, I think the Gully who is still present on the ship should be tested to see if he is the REAL Gully. Once we have that answer, it will help determine what direction to continue the investigation in. Secondly, could the poor attempt at covering up their work in the transporter room actually be a diversion to lead us down the wrong path?”

—Thorne, CO

“It would make sense. It would be pretty clever to divert our attention off the Olympic, while the true perpetrator accomplished his goals here. But what could those be? If I were trying to undermine the mission of the Olympic or gain high level Starfleet secrets, it wouldn’t do much to take over a junior officer. Gully’s clearance is minimal at best. Is it possible we’ve only stumbled upon one victim here? We weren’t supposed to find the body here.”

Harding, CMO

Pretha let a small growl fall from her lips as she back crawled from her half insertion into the opening and sat on her heels a moment before looking up. “Captain, I hate to say it, but if someone is impersonating Gully, the idea of him being a loner is a slim one. One person on this ship doing… whatever it is he is doing, seems a bit outlandish.” She stood up, her eyes closing a moment as her vision swam a moment from the swift movement. As she opened them she smiled. “Sorry, vertigo…” She then continued. “My suggestion, from a security standpoint, is to have everyone muster at Red Alert Stations. And while I know it will take a bit, we need to scan everyone to see if they are who they say they are. Something tells me Gully isn’t going to be our only casualty.”

She glanced at those in the corridor. “And as much as I hate to say it, Command crew should be checked first, then kept on the Bridge to avoid any later ‘contamination’ or take over of themselves. Then I recommend security be checked and they be sent in groups of no less than two though preferably more, to check the remaining stations.”

It would be tedious and time consuming, but the idea that someone who wasn’t a crewmember was about to run them in circles, didn’t sit well with the Security Chief.

Shirazi nodded. “I concur, Lt. Very good idea. Although I hate to think there might be more people involved in this—whatever it is.” She reached up and brushed a wayward hair out of her eyes beneath the glasses. “You know, it still could be just one infiltrator, IF they have prior knowledge of command codes.” Whatever the case, the Olympic was in serious trouble until they sorted out the situation.

“Lt Oberon, I want armed security teams patrolling all decks, along with those you’ve already ordered to specialized areas. Doctor Harding, begin your tests on the Ens Gully in Cmdr D’Vash’s custody. We need some concrete answers.”

Her hand slapped the com badge on the shoulder of her shirt. =/\=All hands, this is the Captain speaking. Report to your assigned areas for Red Alert and stay there until told otherwise. We have at least one intruder on board, maybe more. No officer should is to be alone during this situation. Keep yourselves in groups of two or more at all times. That’s an order.”

She gave Oberon a nod. “The Dr and I will head to sickbay. I’ll have Cmdr D’Vash man the bridge for now.”

—Thorne, CO (pasting myself into the correct spot…sorry!!!)

Collin was anxious to get his hands on the living Ensign Gully. There had to be answers there.

As he and Shirazi moved down the hall toward the turbolift and Sickbay he asked, “Is the live Gully cooperating?”

Harding, CMO

“As far as I know. He’s with the Cmdr and they should be headed to sickbay so you can examine him. Hopefully, you’ll be able to figure out if he’s the REAL Gully or not.”

—Thorne, CO

Winston didn’t have much to say in this even though this may have been his moment to shine. In the end his nervousness kept him quiet; the Captain intimidated him. When Pretha had given her opinion his mind took a staggering lurch into the twilight zone. Was that the way to go? He mentally took note that the Captain liked a complex and time consuming plans.

As he moved off to his ‘area’ he pondered the situation from an engineering perspective. Someone was dropping DNA like it as bird seed which meant that the person likely was in some way suited up to cover his own scent. Or hers. The fact that the person was at the transporter shortly after the incident should have exonerated a great number of the crew on the basis of simply having an alibi. Transporters tended to be more technical - identifying people on the basis of their com badge than their makeup. Could that have been faked? Could someone have their own DNA tweaked to register as Gully? More to think about when they were waiting at their check point.
