After he was done work for the day, Sathut closed his office. He went back to his quarters to clean up a bit, washing his fur a little and putting on a different robe. Around 1630, he left his quarters and made his way over to the lounge, getting a table in a fairly quiet corner and sitting down, managing to negotiate a booster seat for himself. There were times he missed the chairs on Galdori ships, where one didn’t have to worry about reaching the table.

Beid made his way to the lounge and looked around. Seeing Sathut seated at the table he smiled and waved and made his way over. “Good evening, Counselor! We are very happy to see you.” he said and took a seat across the table. “I hope your day was delightfully uneventful.” he said in a most friendly manner. It was evident that the Chief Science Officer was, indeed, happy to be there.

The felinoid nodded slightly. “It is always a good day when one can meet with potential friends after work,” he said with a grin. He leaped from his tall chair to the ground, landing on all fours for a moment before getting to his feet. “Well, shall we go order something from the bar? Perhaps a meal from the replicator?” he suggested with a slight tilt of his head. The tinkling sound of small pieces of soft metal hitting one another could be heard as the counselor’s numerous earrings and wrist and ankle bangles hit one another. It was quite the sight to see.

Sathut

Beid said “Absolutely. I am famished. Please, lead on.”

Beid, CSO

Ooc: doesn’t give me much to work on.

Beid motioned towards the replicator and said “The bar seems a bit crowded. Perhaps a table would be more conducive to conversation?”

Beid, CSO

OOC: Sorry about that!

“I was already seated at a table, so that is not an issue,” Sathut said with a slight tilt of his head, looking a bit confused. His tail flicked back and forth as he stepped over to the bar. He was only ordering his drink there, after which he planned to return to the table he had been sitting on since before Beid arrived. When he got to the bar and had arrested the attention of one of the people behind it, he ordered. “I’ll have my usual, piping hot, please,” he requested, then looked to the Science Chief.

The Counselor had been on the ship for long enough that the man behind the ship’s bar knew him relatively well. Sathut had entrusted to him a bag of his precious Ji’nen beans to brew into his special drink. The drink was brewed like cocoa or coffee beans into a hot drink, but the effect was more of a calming one than the caffeinated coffee drink. It was used as a relaxant within Sathut’s culture, a sort of anti-adrenaline that slowed down the body’s systems to a calmer level. It also had a way of slightly enhancing the flavour of whatever else was eaten after it was consumed, so that was a positive.

The barman got him his drink, held in a ceramic mug that the counselor had provided for himself. Ji’na’pi, the drink made from the bean, tasted better when drunk from a ceramic container than from a plastic or metal container, but Sathut had no clue why.

When the barkeep returned, Beid said “Kolanian tea, please. With lemon.” and soon after was presented with a glass cup and saucer containing a an almost blood-red liquid with a lemon slice floating in it. Beid looked at Sathut and said “Shall we?” and led the way back to the table Sathut had already claimed.

“I was wondering if I may ask you a question, Doctor?” Beid asked as he took a sip of his tea.

Beid, CSO

“Of course,” Sathut said as he placed his drink on the table. He looked at Beid for a few moments before leaping onto his specially adjusted chair. He settled himself before leaning forward and grabbing the Ji’na’pi and taking a sip. His eyes closed and he let out a light hum of enjoyment. “I am always eager for a good conversation,” he said with a smile.

Sathut

Beid leaned forward and said “Do you find people dismissive of you due to your small stature? I ask not be demeaning in sort of fashion, but I am very curious. I have found a good number of sentient species seem to, for whatever reason, equate respect with physical size. I do not understand that myself in a sociological sense. Biologically, I would assume it to be a throwback to early evolution and the need to seek out protection.”
