Pretha wanted to reach out and reassure Odinson, but she didn’t flinch. “Yes, sir,” she responded and moved to the security console. But just as her fingers were about to dance over the miniscule pads, she stopped.

Her brows narrowed slightly as she frowned and turned to survey the bridge. Instead of her password going in there, where it was expected, she moved to stand by the Command Chair. Tapping out the prerequisite combination, she then lifted her chin and spoke out loud. But her voice would surprise those listening. Instead of the confident, sure of herself Security Chief, she sounded like a lost soul. Someone left alone and unsure what to do next.

“Ummmm… Computer? Command override for, umm, Oberon, Pretha… Uhh… Seven, echo, bravo…uhhh… Kilo!” The last word spoken with the confidence if someone remembering something at the last second. As she spoke to the faceless computer, her chin had been lifted, her eyes moving from to side as if searching the ceiling for some unknown answer. When she finished she turned to D’Vash to see his reaction as she awaited the computer’s response.

Pretha Oberon

The XO looked at her with a raised eyebrow. He wondered if she was alright? For a moment, Pretha seemed unsure of herself. Unless, she was trying to play a game with the computer.

Odinson (XO)

=/\=Computer access restricted to Ships Security Officer and Commanding Officer. Ship Status Code Black. Your attempt to access the computer has been logged and a team will be sent to administer punishment shortly. Stay at your current location or punishments will be more severe. Current punishment time accumulated is one hour in an agony booth. More time is subject to be accrued by further attempts to access the computer.=/\= The deep baritone voice of the computer replied. Even the view screen locked out all view with a screen displaying a blinking Code Black.

-GM

“Agony booth?!?” D’Vash began.

OOC: Now Sural will have a booth buddy <G>
IC:

=^= Sural to Bridge. We have encountered … an intruder. Human. Dressed in antiquated garb that enhances the physique. We are in pursuit. =^=

With the security lock out to the main computer, Pretha bit her lip and thought for a moment. Glancing up at D’Vash, she shrugged, “It was a thought, maybe the computer would allow me access if it thought I was the only one about.” She bit her lip and headed to her Security Station. She knew it was a long shot, but she tapped her code and spoke into the computer. “This is Chief of Security, Pretha Oberon, demanding ship access. Name, rank and position on file for verification.” This time her voice was stern and she didn’t use her Fleet Code. It wanted a security person, perhaps this would do it. If not, they were no worse off. As she waited, she glanced back at D’Vash and shrugged like she was at a loss on what else to do.

In response to Sural’s call, D’vash began to bark out an order. ‘Computer, lock down all access from decks 31 to----Dammit.”

While waiting to hear from Pretha again, the wheels in D’vash’s mind began to turn. Agony booth? Where had he heard that term before?

A moment later, an idea began to form in his mind. He realized giving the computer an order was a moot point at this juncture. =^=Proceed with caution, Sural. it looks like your going to be on your own with the people you’ve got.=^= He left the channel open to Sural could hear his next order.

The turbolift opened onto the Bridge and the Chief Medical Officer stepped out. Anxious to report his theory, he paused as the XO called to the computer, a few steps ahead of him.
.
“Computer!! This is Cmdr. D’vash Odinson of the Imperial Starship Olympic. From this moment on, I am assuming command of this ship. Captain Thorne is unfit for duty and is to be arrested and taken to the brig for. . . .interrogation and will be dealt with accordingly.”

He turned to Pretha and the rest of the bridge staff and held up a hand to belay their comments and questions. “I am appointing Lt. Oberon as my second in command until she has proven herself to be a hindrance to my command. Lt. Sural is now third in command.”

The wheels continued to turn for the XO. Either they were now in the ‘mirror universe’ of the Terran Empire, or someone from the alternate reality had come aboard and replaced the Olympic’s original computer with one from the Terran Empire.

“Helm, give me a visual of the surface of the ship’s saucer,” he ordered The the registry showed ISS instead of USS . . . he didn’t want to think about the implications.

Odinson (XO-temporarily taking command of the ship in a coup)

=^= Acknowledged .. Captain =^= Sural replied.

OOC: is that an “If it shows”?

-GM

OOC: Yes, If it shows. I got too excited when I connected what was going on on the ship with the ‘agony booth’. My mind was going faster than I could type :) –Terry

Ooc: I have been waiting for someone to piece together why there was a second almost identical Gully.
OOC: I would like to think that more of us had clued in but were not wanting to have their characters as library computers of the mirror universe. That is how I have been playing Sural. Rather fun actually. Gene

OOC: I figured the XO being a former Intel operative would have some knowledge about the mirror universe, seeing as there were numerous interactions with the Terran Empire in the various series.

IC: The view screen was still locked by the Code Black. Looking over external cameras from another console showed the desired area untouched as it was before the crew embarked on this mission. The computer seemed to take a long time before returning an answer on the command change commands. =/\=Captain Thorne is not a registered crew member of the ISS Olympic. Registry of Commander Thorne documents death by extended use of Agony Booth after a failed assassination on Captain Katra. An updated roster request has been sent to this terminal for inspection by Ship Security Officer, Commander Oberon. Any further attempts to subvert lockout without proper clearance will result in extended time in the Agony Booth.

D’vash was relieved to see the USS in front of the Olympic. At least they were in their OWN universe.

Collin grimaced at the thought of Shirazi in an agony booth, even though he knew it wasn’t ‘his’ Shirazi.

The XO noticed Harding’s response at hearing of Thorne’s death, even if it wasn’t their Thorne. He could understand the man’s reaction and would have most likely reacted in the same way if he heard that it was Pretha that had died in the booth.

“Commander,” he said as he made his way to the XO’s side, “I ran a genetic analysis on the man we thought an imposter Ensign Gully. He’s not our Ensign Gully, but he is Ensign Gully. It seems I’m just confirming what you already know.”

Harding, CMO

He nodded to the Doctor. “I’m guessing the man Sural is searching for is from the other universe as well. But how the hell did they get here and for how long. And right now, I’m not sure about who else to trust. You, me, Oberon and Sural, at least.

Hearing D’Vash give his commands, and the Doc responding about Gully, Pretha finally got it. Tapping out the commands, she got the roster pulled up and ran down the list of personnel and their ranks. “Ok… So Commander Oberon, Captain Odinson…” She half murmured the ranks with the names and nodded to D’Vash.

Moving over closer to him, she dropped her voice hoping the computer wasn’t listening. “Sir, I could tell the computer the comment about Thorne was to be sure security was intact. That I am turning over command to you while we search for traitors. And that the Agony Booth should be in cargo bay two for use by security personnel as directed.” With said Booth in a given location, maybe it wouldn’t just ‘show up’ in places it wasn’t needed or wanted.

“I’m not so sure if there is an agony booth on board, actually. That might just be the computer’s programming. Whoever planted their program into our computers is doing it from near the main deflector shield. That’s where Sural said the power drain was coming from.

She then mouthed, Are you ok? as her eyes searched to be sure he truly was.

D’vash gave her a quick silent nod of reassurance, but the frustration and concern was etched on his face. “Was there a crewmember named Katra on the roster? If there is and we can find her or him, and if it is OUR Katra, maybe we can fool the computer. Other than that, “Commander” Oberon, we need to get into that room.”

Odinson (XO)

Pretha felt the tightness in her chest ease a bit at D’Vash’s reassuring nod. Turning to the roster, she scanned down the list for Katra’s name. She wasn’t familiar with mirror universes so duplicates, dopplegangers, and Odinson’s relief at whatever he saw on the hull was lost on her. But she knew that as ‘Commander Oberon’, she had a bit more pull now with the computer than before. Waiting for the list to search for the name, she turned to the XO. “Who will go with me? I worry about risking you, Sir. If you are on the roster of voices the computer recognizes, we can’t risk you.” While part of her said it out of a desire to protect her lover, the other part of her was thinking like a CoS. He was someone who seemed to have a grasp on what was happening. And since she couldn’t very well send him and not herself, it would be her to check out the given location, while he needed to remain separate from her in case something happened. She just hoped he would realize it was the professional, not the personal, side that was trying to ask.

OOC: Hi Melissa. Have one surviving security NE down on Deck 27 heading back to where Ens Pierce is at. I’m loathe to play a NE outside my dept there but thought you might like to do that one to get a little more variety in that thread. Just a thought. If you want me to play the NE let me know but you know the security biz. <G> .. Gene

The officer at the conn looked back at the other Bridge officers, “I may be talking out of line here, but if this Gully wasn’t OUR Gully, how do we know if anyone on the Bridge hasn’t been compromised as well?”
