The room beyond the door had emptied by the time Oliver could get the doors open. Consoles almost identical to the Bridge of the ship had been replicated entirely to the detail minus the viewscreen. The main viewer seemed to have been placed so only the Captains’ chair and the Executive Officer could see it. Other panel types had also been added that looked to have been placed to monitor the ship and it’s occupants. Camera feeds even showed the people moving around on the Main Bridge. Other camera’s cycled through various areas of the ship, giving the full impression that they had been here for a while and were surveilling the ship’s personnel.

Down the corridor, in the Jefferies tube, the other man with a phaser didn’t speak back. He just reached around the corner and fired another 3 shots down the tube at the crew. All while laughing, he grinned as he waited for the crew to try their luck in taking him as he reached for his dagger while hidden from view.

One of the NE fired at the man they were chasing. Tapping his comm, he reached out to another of those tied up in this chase. =^= Pierce, it’s Galens. How’s it going?=^=

Galens had been with Sural and Pierce when all the world, or at least the ship, had gone sideways. He had taken off after the knife wielder as Pierce had set to opening the doors. He fired a couple more shots down the tube and growled under his breath. “Of all the things to happen on my watch. This is what I get for complaining about being bored.” He laughed once more and peered around the corner, he head closer to the floor in case the mad man wielding a knife, and a phaser set to max, decided he was a good target.

“Indeed, we do not always appreciate getting what we wish for.”

Oliver slowly walked into the ‘bridge’ somewhat dumbstruck. “We’re not in Kansas anymore, Toto.” He muttered under his breath. He slowly began looking at all of the surveillance equipment, more impressed than disgusted. With his phaser now holstered, Oliver stood, watching the monitors and fiddling with some of the controls, trying to figure out just how extensive the surveillance was. “Well,” He said aloud, “This is all very KGB.”

It took a minute before Oliver realized Galens had contacted him, =^= I got the door open and I went through it, but all enemy personnel evacuated before I got in. I’m in a room that looks like the main bridge, but things are… Different. =^= His eyes were still glued to the screen, watching the camera feeds cycle through the ship. =^= Galens, they’ve been watching us. They must have been here for a week- weeks, months maybe! It’s all so extensive I can’t… Who are these people? =^=

Oliver Pierce, Eng

Marcus growled under his breath and shook his head. =^= Pierce, mirror the program and secure it. Lock it down under security protocols. I want no one able to access it anymore, but I want the CO to make the call to abort the program.=^=

=^= Yessir! =^= Oliver readily complied. He was beyond uncomfortable but he began to follow orders.

He then tapped his comm once more. =^=Bridge, it’s Galens… we found their hideout. They’ve been surveying. Locking it down but requesting instructions. We are still holding down a guy down here as well. But can’t tell who it’s supposed to be.=^= There was obvious frustration in his voice as well as a couple more phaser shots in the background.

Sural was listening to the exchange. Too many holes. Not enough people. He said to Galens in a low tone. “Mr Galens. This is a standoff that we cannot afford to continue with. We’re after an ant where we’ve accessed the anthill in another location. We must secure that area and defend it. And .. if that is one of their operations centers they may have more .. ordinance to deal with.” Assuming that the ensign would see the sense in that, he waited a moment before turning to head back quickly to where Pierce was, stopping only to pick up the dagger that the other crewman had thrown. Logically security was typically attracted to the bigger, shinier things like rifles and, in this case, grenades which would sort out their opponent much faster than taking pot shots at one another.

When he entered he took in the scene. Impressive. His mind deduced at least two time periods that they would have had to undertake this expansive venture. The cameras were a concern, as well as the volume of staff they would have had to ‘replace’ in order to keep this area secret. “Mr Pierce, are you able to secure these stations?” Knocking them out on the basis of phaser fire would not garner them information.

Oliver was working away at a station trying to do just that. His relative lack of skill in more advanced computer systems was hindering him, but he kept at it.

=^= Bridge, this is Sural. We are on Deck 27 and have accessed the Bay area. The intruders have established a base wherein they have duplicated a bridge configuration and other panels where they were surveilling areas of the vessel including the bridge. We are attempting to secure the area. The intruders have fled for the moment, likely overestimating our numbers. Request instruction - and trusted crew to assist in securing this area. =^=

“Acknowledged, Sural. Lock down that bay and don’t let anyone else in there until Lt. Oberon, I, or the Captain get there. I’m asking you to trust me on this, Sural. The other ‘verse Thorne is dead according to records, so if you see her, she HAS to be OUR Capt. Thorne.”

Odinson (XO)

=^= Understood, Commander =^= Sural said, a brow raising. Things were starting to make more sense as to the ‘who’. The question was certainly ‘why’. Certainly they would know that assistance was not impossible. Unlikely, yes, with Federation non interference rulings, but still it was not like precedents had not been set in prior encounters.

Sural moved to the Captain’s chair and attempted to work the controls to establish a force field at the door in which they entered.

Sathut wasn’t a particularly appropriate member of the crew to have hanging around at this junction, but he had grabbed a low-powered phaser and had followed the others down into the cloned bridge. “Who do you think is behind all of this? And how long has this been here?” he wondered aloud.

Sathut

“Astute inquiries,” Sural replied. “Given your studies, what would you say about the society which generated this layout? They are evidently familiar with the technology, and can move about easily enough to be able to conceal this area and create this base of operations.” Sural was indeed wondering at how Sathut came to be down here, however, that being said, an increase of 33% in their complement was welcome. He was also curious what a ‘professional’ would ‘see’ in this layout that would help them.

Galen wasn’t crazy about everyone taking off for the mirrored bridge. The fact the Chief Engineer outranked him was the only reason he hadn’t protested. He set another NE on the corner and nodded. “I want you to keep him pinned in there, or stun him on the lowest setting it takes to contain him.” The other security guard nodded and he left him with another NE engineer who had been doing the sweep with them.

Moving to the mirror bridge, he slipped inside as Sural was putting up the force field. He listened to the exchange between the two. “And they can clone us.” He said as he moved around the bridge, having not believed it was as detailed as it had been hinted at.

Oliver’s eyes went wide as he continued to work on securing the computer program, “They can… Clone us?” He asked slowly, not looking up from his station.

Oliver Pierce, Eng

Were Sural not a Vulcan he may have rolled his eyes at this point. “Not precisely, though the technology makes cloning possible, in this case I believe we are witnessing an infringement of what we know as the ‘mirror universe’ into ours. History is not my strong point, however, the first known such event was just over a century ago and there have been several such instances since. It is not that you may have a clone. Rather you would have a mirror universe counterpart.”

Sural glanced about. He was not a tactician, however he did play competitive chess, and he could make suitable choices regarding strategy and defense. Provided he could put up a force field from this console, that is.

Sural, CE

Galen frowned. “Great… duplicates. I can’t stand half the folks on the ship and now there could be ‘two’ of them?” He laughed, but it wasn’t quite a genuine one. “Ok, so we have to figure out who they cloned, or doubled, or whatever, and then isolate them from the real crew. I mean our crew.” The logistics of all this was giving him a headache already. He was just glad he wasn’t ranked enough to have to do more than follow orders.

Galen

Sural shook his head. “No. That is the concern of the other command crew and especially the captain who we know is ours. We have not the means to find out amongst ourselves. Our priority right now is to secure this station from any counteroffensive and learn what we can from it.” A thought did occur to him. “Logically their observation would be to see what their ‘this universe’ duplicates were doing so that they did not wind up crossing paths and to study them to mimic patterns. Perhaps you can examine their camera feeds to determine the top observed persons aboard.” That was a good ‘security’ thing to delegate which Galen would be more apt to more comfortably fall into.

=^= Sural to Crawford. Ensign, we entered the upper Bay on deck 27. A number of people fled from this position. Please reconstruct the heat patterns to identify numbers and current location. Focus on anyone approaching our current position. Relating to the power draw on Deck 31, we are in the midst of a constructed bridge that is nearly fully equipped. Examine the level of power draw and compare it to what might be drawn for this … facility. =^=

Oliver pondered for a moment. His prosthetic, metal hand rested on his chin as if stroking a goatee that wasn’t there. “Lt. Sural, uh, sir. If we can figure out the most watched people on board, whoever the hell it is that they’re most interested in, I can try to access the internal sensors to alert us to whenever people with the same bio-signs as those most watched are detected in the ship. See if we can’t catch critical copies in the act.”

“That is logical,” Sural replied. “Please proceed.” He looked at Oliver’s prosthetic. “I would suspect that they would not send duplicates with known .. obvious contrasts. Such as you with your hand, or one of them should their physical condition be obvious. Or I would suspect myself as, if my recollection holds, the Vulcans in the mirror universe did not adopt the philosophy of logic.”

He paused for a short second, “I don’t think that internal sensors would be restricted command-level functions, and if we can get them working for us than I think that would go a long way to solving our intelligence problem as far as the duplicates go.” Oliver looked to Sural, somewhat afraid he’d spoken out of turn with his idea.

Oliver Pierce, Eng

The Vulcan glanced at the displays. “We may enjoy a lessening of controls here on these consoles. Our counterparts were supposed to monitor and be able to plot their movements. Hence we should be able to do so as well.” If he had suspected for a moment that Oliver had spoken out of line Sural did not let it show. “That is sound logic on your part,” he replied.

His mind was going on about what was happening below them. He had not yet received word from Mr Crawford in engineering, but perhaps there was something more he could do here. He sat in the command seat and contemplated the scene around him. Some areas could not be seen from others; logically the other universe was as yet as paranoid as it had been. =^= Computer. Review mission parameters and outstanding tasks to complete. =^= It was a ‘shot’ as the Terrans liked to say. Logically the mission parameters should be available; how else would they know what to do? If not, then who ‘was’ in command of this mission?

OOC: Bump

The computer screen lit up with mission parameters on the Olympic.

Priority Alpha - Observe and document crew behavior and habits. Utilize this information to ease in false crewmembers to slowly take control of key points in the ship. Final point to take over the ship and utilize as mobile spy platform in Federation Universe Space. Prep for invasion.
Priority Beta - In the event of discovery before the mission completion, implement Code Black lockdown and take over computer systems. Power down all communication abilities and navigation.
Priority Gamma - In the event of mission failure. Erase all existence of mission. All personnel are to be considered expendable and the ship is to be scuttled to prevent knowledge of Terran Empire plans. If the Code Black is not lifted by Empire personnel, ships self destruct will be activated.
