D’vash stood up from where he was sitting. He pulled down the burned uniform sleeve from his shoulder and inspected the wound. “Just a flesh wound here. I’ve suffered worse.”

Harding looked up from his position tending the NE who had caused the XO’s “flesh wound” and nodded. He’d tend to Odinson as soon as he could, but for now he trusted the man’s self-assessment.

Pretha frowned at the burnt sleeve being tugged over his arm. If the material was that bad… “I’m glad. Wouldn’t have gotten you out of dinner tomorrow night,” she smiled at him and patted his good arm as he moved.

He nodded to Pretha and said, “Nice shot.” Then stepped closer to Harding as he administered to the wounded NE.

“Thanks… not looking to do it again…” she nodded and moved to the others to check on them.

D’vash read over the report from the Chief Engineer and his face grew grim. He handed the report of to Pretha for her perusal.

“We’ve got a situation here people. The computer is locked out with Code Black, so their Beta priority has already been activated. We need to regain control of this ship before they activate the self-destruct. We’ve also got the issue of Mirror ‘verse doubles running around. We need options and we need them fast people.”

He left the speech to text option open on the PAdd so they could communicate with Sural and his people on the faux bridge.

Odinson (XO)

“Did you say Mirror ‘verse?” Sathut asked, creeping back out of the turbolift and leaning against the wall. He looked a little shocked. He had heard of this Mirror universe. As far as he was aware from the little he had heard, the Galdori races were rarer within the Terran Empire than they were in the Federation. And the Raka more-so, having been subjugated to slavery by the other people of his planet. He doubted that the Sathut of the Mirror universe had ever been off Galdor, if he was even born. “I have not been shot, but it was a near miss. I am grateful for my low stature…” he looked at the group of officers here, then stepped over to Odinson. He tapped the small device on his wrist so that he could read the report from the other bridge. “Do we know who has been replaced as of yet?” he asked. “Are we certain that everyone here is of our universe?”

Sathut, CNS

“Yes, Counselor. That’s why I called you to the Bridge. From what I’ve read in various reports of that universe, I found no mention of the Raka. What that means exactly. . . .right now I don’t care to postulate, but I was hoping to convince the ensign that you are the real Sathut and there would be no double of you on the ship.”

Pretha moved to check on the NE. “Is he gonna be ok, Doc?” She stood over the stunned man on the floor and bit back a growl and desire to shoot him and finish it off. She holstered her phaser and looked around. “Doc, myself and the XO have been cleared medically. We need to check the rest on the bridge, then make sure no one leaves here. We need to maintain a central point of control regardless of whatever else is happening.” She then glanced at D’Vash. “And we need to figure out the hierarchy on the ship according to the new parameters and see if we can’t work the computer against itself.”

Pretha
CoS

The NE would be fine and Harding let Oberon know this with a nod of his head and a half-formed smile.

Now that things had calmed down on the bridge, D’vash remembered something. “Pretha, the computer mentioned ‘Commander’ Oberon would have access to the computer. I’m guessing that means you have a double on board.”

The XO didn’t like the sound of that. The double could have been with him in one of their intimate moments and could have learned some secrets. He thought hard about recent events with Pretha, trying to remember if he noticed anything “strange” about any of their encounters. . . .

“Can we pinpoint where ‘Commander” Oberon is?”

Odinson (XO)

Pretha frowned. Partly because she hadn’t considered it before him, and partly because she wasn’t sure how to respond. “Well, you were mentioned on the list. My suggestion might be for you and Sathut,” she nodded to the newest addition to the bridge, “to head to medical. We need the other medical devices to check the rest of the crew anyway. I will remain here. Once there, inquire where the Commander, me, is…” she shook her head a moment as that sounded odd to her ears. “If it gives a location other than right here, then my guess is that’s the doppleganger.” She glanced to the others wondering if it made sense. “Doc can check out Security NE Parker, and NE James here on the bridge and they can go as escorts. And we need a phrase, or word or ‘something’ to let us each know we are the real ones if we have a doubt.” Again, her brow furrowing slightly as, once more, she wondered if she was making sense.

Pretha
CoS

“Pretha, what was MY role according to the computer? I don’t want to be surprised if I run into myself. Your idea has merit, but not many of the real crew know what is going on yet. Sural and his team, us, here on the bridge. . . I don’t want people starting to panic like the NE here.”

Harding moved to NE James, “You won’t feel a thing.”

He reassured the man as he drew his blood. With the tension of the moment dissipated to a degree he was able to multitask more efficiently and drew blood from NE PArker as well. Using the science station he was able to run his test more rapidly.

Sathut grinned slightly. “How about something that has to do with me?” he suggested. He crouched, tail waving back and forth like a plotting feline, then leaped onto a nearby console. He sat much like a cat, knees up and hands between his feet, as he continued. “I have done some reading on the Mirror Universe in the brief few years I have been aware of it, and to my knowledge, those of my race are either extinct, or a low-intelligence slave-race on my planet. Therefore, some password phrase that references felines could be possible. Something that doesn’t seem to suspicious…”

He thought for a few moments. “It has to be more than just a few words, since someone from the mirror universe could hear the password and copy it, which would be counterproductive. What do you think of, ‘Have you seen my cat?’ as the question, then the second responds with, ‘I’m not sure, what colour is he?’ and the first can say, ‘White as snow and black as night,’ and the second person could say, ‘Yes, I saw him in the arboretum.’“

“I wonder if those from the other universe smell different than those from ours. If so, I could identify them by smell…” he tilted his head slightly, tail twitching back and forth.

Sathut, CNS

Harding, CMO

D’vash turned to the counselor. “Do you think you smell is sensitive enough to detect a difference? Give it a shot, Sathut. Right now we need any advantage we can get.”

Turning to Doc Harding, he continued. “Do any of your people know what’s going on yet?”

Harding shook his head, “No, I came straight here with my suspicions. I didn’t want to alarm my staff until I knew for sure.”

The next thing he said was going to be hard on the others, especially Harding. “Since we haven’t heard anything from Capt. Thorne recently, we have to assume the worst.”

He knew Thorne and Harding had been getting close, but wasn’t sure how far their relationship had progressed. Still, he offered the doctor a sympathetic look. “If we do find her, she has to be our captain, since she was killed in the other ‘verse.”

“Until that time, we’re on own our own.”

OOC: Waiting for Harding to answer about sickbay before planning the next move.

Odinson (XO)

Collin’s face was impassive. He’d spent enough time on the frontlines with the Starfleet Marines, to know how to compartmentalize his emotions when in the middle of it. He wasn’t going to assume the worst until he knew for sure.

Harding, CMO

D’vash felt for the CMO, but was glad he was keeping it under control and professional. He knew he would have to do the same if Pretha had disappeared. “I don’t want something to intricate, Sathut. One or two words should suffice. Only those of us on the bridge and the people with Sural should know.”

Once the password and response were decided on, “Pretha, send that info to Sural to share with this people he trusts. Sathut and I are going to take a road trip. We’ll bypass sickbay for the time being and meet up with Sural instead, see what we can do about regaining control of the computer.”

“Doc, as soon as you’ve finished confirming everyone here on bridge, I’d like to take your medical scanner and tri-corder so Sathut and I can test people we may come across.”
