Pretha sighed, she hated when he made sense. “I guess shooting the other me and not the real me is a good enough reason. She walked up to him and handed him her phaser. “For you if it’s needed, or another trusted officer once you get a body guard.” She smiled but lowered her voice. She had always been one to keep a bit more secrecy of their relationship than him. It was still new and she had wanted it quiet more than him. But right now, she didn’t care. She let her hand rest on his arm a moment. “Besides, if I’m here, you won’t kiss the wrong one when this is over, either.” She smiled but there was still concern in her eyes. “Be safe… that’s an order from your Commanding Officer.” She laughed softly and stepped back.

“Hurry back, Sir. With as many actual crew as you can gather.” She nodded and turned away to head for the nearest console. She needed something to do. Something to keep her mind off the fact that suddenly the ship was topsy turvy and life was now twice as crazy as usual.

Sathut took the tricorder and headed towards the turbolift, ready to go out and try to stop these intruders.

Sathut, CNS

Collin had managed to overhear just enough of Pretha’s conversation with the XO. He sidled up next to her at her console after the Odinson and Sathut had departed.

“It’s a good thing he has the Counselor with him. If he shoots the other you, he’s going to be Sathut’s newest patient,” the doctor flashed her a broad grin and a chuckled.

OOC: I knowit’s just a typo, but I like the way that sounds, THE Odinson!! –Terry

OOC: Maybe it was a typo, maybe it wasn’t…

Pretha smiled as she watched the others leave. When Harding approached her, she gave him a soft smile. “I’m glad Sathut is with him as well.” She moved to one of the far consoles and began tapping in basic commands to check on the status of various terminals around the ship. It wasn’t an invasive scan and with luck, anyone opperating the stations wouldn’t even know of her check. She looked to two terminals in each of Medical, Engineering, Security, and also the Cargo Bays, Transporter Rooms, and even the Bridge, for good measure. If it worked, she would know who was logged into each station. She wasn’t sure she could check the programs running, but she would try.

Collin was manning one of the support science stations next to Oberon, transmitting the data from his tests to Sickbay. He had no idea if staff in his Sickbay had been compromised, but he had to provide them with the tools to find out. Besides, there wasn’t much risk any intruders finding out about the testing procedure would enable them to avoid it. They couldn’t change their blood.

“I know I shouldn’t, Harding…” Pretha glanced sideways at her friend, a soft smile on her face. “But I think I care for him more than I should. I won’t say ‘the word’ because I don’t want to jinx whatever is coming. But if something happens.... let’s just say it’s a good thing you are here.” She tried to laugh it off but it was obviously forced.

Collin flashed her a weak smile, “He’ll be fine. I know I can’t predict the future, but I know he will be.”

Collin leaned in and gave her a quick side hug, quick enough so the busy bridge crew didn’t notice him comforting their temporary CO.
