OOC: This is a tad later than I’d like, but I got caught up in the typical Christmas rush lol.

IC:Bag slung on his shoulder Erikk stepped into the Turbolift. =^= Deck 11 =^= he said, shifting the bag further onto his shoulder until sat more comfortably, sagging sadly against his back. Even after all the years that had passed since he’d escaped his home planet he still packed light. He didn’t see the point of packing more than he needed. With only a handful of items it made unpacking a breeze. So much so he hadn’t even bothered to stop by his quarters and get organised before he completed his boarding evaluations. He didn’t need too.

The doors opened on Deck 11 and Erikk stepped out. For some reason this deck seemed to feel cooler than the turbolift, although he didn’t know if that was more because of nerves than a fault in the conditioning systems on the ship. Like many officers he wasn’t a fan of the psychological evaluation. Counsellors like to talk and he wasn’t a talker. Whether by nature or out of habit, Erikk didn’t easily talk, much less about himself. Which ended up with all sorts of mixed results from the people around him. He just didn’t see the point. He stopped walking, noticing he was outside the Counsellors office, with a baited breath he stepped forwards and rang the chime.

Lt. (j.g) Mendez, CSO

The door opened without too much of a delay and a welcoming voice called out. “Come on in!” The voice was deep, but not very deep, and had a sort of rumbling timbre to it. The reason for the strange texture to the sound was quickly obvious as the Counselor came into his view. Instead of the human counselor that Mendez may have been expecting, he was brought face to face with a three and a half foot tall being who looked more like a cat on it’s hind legs than a person, at first glance.

Erikk stepped on the boarder of the Counselors office and then stopped, having spotted what he had at first thought to be a cat. But with no other signs of another person in the room, he had to surmise that the cat was also in-fact the Counselor.

“Come on in. It’s good to see you. You must be the new Chief of Science, Erikk Mendez. You don’t mind if I call you Erikk, do you?” the cat-person spoke. He turned and climbed onto a raise chair that put him at an equal height to a person sitting on the opposite couch. “Please, do take a seat. I’m Counselor Sathut.”

Sathut wore a soft green garment made of a flowing material that wrapped around him, almost like a roman toga. His ears were decorated with a variety of bangles, and an intricately woven metal adornment climbed from his wrist most of the way up his lower arm. The counselor’s posture was relaxed, as if in the presence of a friend, and he watched the new CSO with a calm gaze.

A little more relaxed, now that the unexpected information about the Counselor had had time to process, Erikk fully walked into the Office, and over to the couch Sathut had indicated to. He dropped his bag at his feet with barely a sound, and sat down on the couch the Counselor had indicated to. His eyes flitted warily - almost out of habit - around the room before returning sourly on Sathut. His expression was curious, almost expectant as if waiting for the Counselor to say something more.

Sathut nodded slightly, then smiled. “So, Erikk. How are you doing? Glad to be on a new ship?”
