As the team filed in, the would find a rather intense looking doctor scanning the pod. He looked back. “Lt Sural, may we open this please? From what I can tell, this man is stable, but fading. He will die in the next hour and I will not be held responsible.”

Upon visual inspection, the pod almost resembled a sarcophagus, how any human could survive was a mystery.

Sural entered with Reno at his heels, already unpacking the engineering tricorder. “Intriguing,” he murmured. How could anything like that survive near a black hole? What kept it from being pulled in?

“Nor will it be looked upon well were we to make undue haste and cause an incident that injures crew or damages the ship. “Reno, please scan the .. unit for any potential danger, radiation emissions and power supply.”
“On it chief like horns on a toad,” Reno replied, bringing the tricorder to life and making a slow circuit.
Meanwhile Sural used his tricorder to scan for a ‘door’ or way in. “Doctor, what is keeping this individual alive? Is it only, as some would say, serendipity, that brings us here at the moment of this unit’s failure?” While Sural was not a skeptic, as that would imply an emotional origin, he considered in this instance that it was not unwise to hold a doubting position - the odds of this happening were simply astronomical.

J.C had walked in seeing the unit running scans on the body “this is very interesting.....I’m unsure of how this man has kept himself alive. Let alone minimum damage from what I’m seeing on the scans. It could be a number of things keeping this man alive for this long.” He stated looking towards sural as he spoke calmly.

“I am open to speculation, doctor,” Sural replied. What he was more wanting to know was how such a small thing was not swallowed by the black hole? Did it not want to swallow it? That would suggest a sentience to the anomaly, which would be anomalous itself, however if the doctor was entertaining many options of survivability, then he could entertain the same. He completed his scan and stopped to look at the results. If the unit was as old to utilize an ancient communication method, was the door in as old and simple?
- Sural

There seemed to be an air recycling system and early food replicator inside. The inner workings were hard to detect in detail while the door was closed. As was the physical state of the man inside. Though his signature remained stable.

The door seemed to open in an old fashioned manner, though it might be too heavy for a single person to lift alone. A lever could help lift it, or a team of three or four could pry it open.

D’vash had been visually inspecting the pod for any indications of its’ origins while the doctor and engineers were running scans. “If you can’t detect any hazards, gentlemen, let’s get this Robinson Crusoe out of there and get his story. That’s the best way to get some answers.

He dug his fingers into any small crevasse he could find and prepared to lift. . .
