Pretha smiled. He had a way of making the starkest, most unhospitable setting seem romantic. It was no surprise to her she nodded her head. “Ok… I’d like that.” She shook her had and laughed. “Only you can make being buried in freezing snow sound romantic.” She raised her hand to caress his cheek. “How is it I landed you when every other woman on this ship has probably been chasing you for years before I even got here?” It was more musing out loud than anything she actually expected an answer to.
D’vash smiled back. “That’s simple. I was just waiting for you to show up.”
“We should probably eat. And discuss when you want to do this grandeous vacation of yours.” She smiled and tried to step from his arms, though there wasn’t a great deal of effort that would be needed if he wasn’t ready to let go.
Pretha
“I am kinda hungry. . . .but it’s for something that doesn’t have much nutritional value.” His gaze went to the bedroom, then back to Pretha.

Pretha laughed. The tension in her body began to seep out of her. “I guess it’s a good thing I decided a state fair was something I had to see for myself.” She turned and looked at him, a hand resting on his chest. I’ll have to thank whoever’s decided to run that holo program that day.” She kissed the tip of his nose then pulled away from him.
“Let’s get something to eat, then you’ll get your dessert,” she teased with a wink and headed for the replicator. Once her back was to him, she bit her lip a moment and paused, her hands on the counter as if to steady herself. Then she blinked and the moment was passed. She smiled and called back to him. “Want macaroni casserole or something else?” The moment of unease didn’t go unnoticed by her. She just hoped, D’Vash hadn’t seen it. He already worried too much about her.
Pretha
D’vash sighed, ” I suppose you’re going to need the energy.”
He plopped into a seat at the small table. “The macaroni casserole sounds good, but only if I can get the little, cut up hot dogs in there, too.”
Odinson (connoisseur of all fine things made with macaroni)
Pretha laughed. “Of course, with hot dogs. You would think I didn’t know you by now.” She turned with a smile as the appropriate dish appeared and she set it on the table between them. “Though I have to admit, it does taste better this way.” She served them both a good helping then settled down beside him. “So tell me more about this ridiculously cold place you want to take me to. How can something as stark and barren as a winter landscape be pretty? Isn’t it just all white with snow, or devoid of foliage and such?”
Pretha
“It’s not completely barren. There are a few towns and villages that far north, and plenty of wildlife. We’ll go to Vesterålen and get a cabin on the coast where we can do some whale watching right from the big windows, while staying nice and cozy warm inside. Like I said, it’s virtually twilight 24 hours a day during this time of year. The skies are incredibly beautiful. The landscape will take your breath away. You can look in one direction and see the craggy mountain peaks, and turn around and see white beaches. Trust me, you’ll never want to leave.”
D’vash dug into the macaroni with gusto, not realizing he had been so hungry. Besides his plate sat his favorite beverage of grape kool-aid.
“We finish eating and I’ll show you some vids of the area. I promise, this will be the best vacation you’ve ever had.” He took a sip of his drink. When he set the cup back down, he was grinning.
“You’ll have the honor of being the ONLY girl I’ve ever taken up there. That’s how special you are to me. This is a special place for me, and you’re the only one I’d ever want to share it with.”
Odinson (XO)
Pretha laughed. “I bet you say that to all the girls who dig their heels in about being snowed in.” She leaned over and kissed him before he could protest. “I believe you, dear. Honest. And I’m honored you want to share something so special. Unfortunately, I don’t have any place special like that to share with you.” She smiled and sat back in her seat. “But I know we will make our own places out here, I am sure.”
