Dius steeled his expression as he exited the turbolift to the deck on which the counsellor’s office was situated. With a flick he checked his wrist chronometer to ensure that he was not running late. He was in a bit of a foul mood as he exited the lift. He loathed and avoided all counsellors as much as possible. Doubly so the telepathic ones. He understood the necessity of service based psychologists and counselling in general. But every last one that he had ever met simply assumed that his life was their business and that they could simply consume it at their will.

Even if he wasn’t using Star-Fleet as a cover life to stay ahead of and protected from pursuit he wouldn’t exactly be warm to the idea of someone automatically assuming they owned the right to rifle through your experiences. But he would simply play the religious card and be moderately obstructionist until the counselor in question gave up as they had every other time.

He rounded the corner almost the exact time as the last person he wanted to see right now, Captain Thorne. Apparently the universe was going to take perverse delight in screwing with him today, about the only way it could get worse is if a Quad just magicked itself out of thin air.

“Ohh for Fu....Captain, what are you doing here. I am scheduled to speak with this Counselor at precisely.....” and he looked at his chronometer again “Now. Or was this appointment a ruse to get me alone and can we expect security to be making a unwarranted appearance too.” Dius said as he subtly sneered at thorne.

Involved with thoughts of her own, Shirazi didn’t see Bogir until he actually spoke. She closed her eyes and took a deep breath. She so did not need to have to deal with him today. “I know you’ll find it hard to believe, Ensign,” she put a lot of emphasis on his rank. “But I’m the one with the appointment right now so why don’t you go off and annoy someone else? Or IS there anyone else? I can’t imagine a kind word coming out of your mouth, so maybe the counselor is your only chance for conversation?” She reached past him and tried to hit the chime.

“In any case, this appointment is mine.”

—Thorne, CO

At which Dius mockingly bowed in a overly florid manner and said in a highly sarcastic and satirical tone whereas before he had made a mockery of her with informality, now he made a mockery of her with hyper formality. “By your command Comrade-Captain SIR. This lowly Ensign apologises for his PRESUMPTION of attending an appointment as requested and shall WITHDRAW as persuant to the good Comrade-Captain’s orders.”

“By YOUR leave Comrade-Captain SIR?” Dius said, emphasising in a ever patient but suffering tone certain words as he stood at rock solid attention.

Through their many encounters, Bogir had never been polite—well, maybe the very first time when he offered to help ease her sleeplessness. But that had gone south quickly. Since then, he’d had nothing but venom and bitter accusations to spew in her direction and she wasn’t going to put up with it any more.

Gray eyes narrowed behind the blue glasses. “You are an ass, Ensign Bogir.” Now she shook her head. “I haven’t done anything to deserve the way you speak to me. I have tried to help you but you won’t let me in, so IF I’ve screwed up, its YOUR fault, not mine.”

—Thorne, CO

For once Bogir didn’t have a snappy come back as if what she’d said had stunned him. But then after a minute he pulled a pad from slit in his lower pants and started muttering “Gotta remember that one, If I’ve screw......your fa......mine”. He looked at the Padd and his face just went WOW for a few moments. Eventually he looked away from the PaDD at the thorne and said, “Wow, that was by far the most.....wow. I think I’m going to need counselling to get over that comment.”

Hearing some rather hefty shouting outside his door, Sathut glanced at his clock. Hmm, no one was scheduled for an appointment right now. But if there was trouble outside his door, it was the least he could do to at least try to help.

He pressed the small button that opened the door remotely, and the door slid open to reveal… His problem cases. The two officers most hostile to his presence and mission. How lovely. He folded his arms slightly and waited for them to notice him.

Sathut

Caught up in her fiery anger, Shirazi was totally focused on the Ensign. “You are a giant, sarcastic prick, Bogir and I’m done with you. You want to be somewhere else? FINE! I’ll arrange a transfer just as soon I can find a place willing to take someone like you!”

—Thorne, CO

Dius, also pushed past the bounds of giving a crap snapped back with “Ohh please, a couple of years on a comm relay would be freaking paradise after having to deal with your invasive uppity ass. At least there I can get a full nights sleep. Hell even the brig is better then being accosted at random. Actually you don’t have to threaten me this time, I’ll damn well volunteer for it. Stupid, righteous......”

– Ensign DIus Olsen Bogir, Scientist

Sathut coughed quite obviously, drawing attention to the fact that their bickering had alerted him to their presence. “Now… Ensign, Captain. Would you both step in and tell me what is going on? By the look of things, I’ve stepped in on something that’s been going on for a while, and although you may not think it is my business… it most certainly is. As the Counselor, part of my duty is to make sure quarrels are dealt with and the officers onboard this ship do not murder one another.”

Knowing that neither of these particular individuals was very fond of his ‘prying’, as they called it, he sat down comfortably on his chair and leaned back. “Now, either you can come in here and talk this out with me, or I’m going to have to take you both off the duty roster,” he spoke. There were only two officers on the ship who could order the Captain to take a break. The Chief Medical Officer… and the Head Counselor.

So focused on the man in front of her, Shirazi didn’t immediately notice the door opening or the small, furry feline standing there. Sathut’s voice was her first clue and it was too late to get away by then. She watched him walk to his favorite chair and heard the threat of removing then both from the duty roster. Her lips were pressed into a thin line when she looked back at Bogir and harshly whispered. “Now look what you’ve done!”

Taking a deep, hopefully cleansing, breath, Thorne entered the office and found a seat on the couch(?).

“This really isn’t necessary, Lt. The Ensign and I have a…hmm…its just a misunderstanding.”

—Thorne, CO

Dius snorted at Thorne’s caricature of their relationship as it was. “The misunderstanding is, you are a twit who doesn’t like being told no.”

– Ensign DIus Olsen Bogir, Scientist

“Misunderstanding my ass,” Sathut’s calm face vanished in an instant as he realized he’d have to use a little brute force on these two. The calm face returned, seeing that the Captain was at least sitting down. “Thank you, Captain. And Ensign. Please. Take a seat on the couch. You don’t have to sit next to Captain Thorne, but please. Come into my office.” His words suggested it might be a suggestion, but his tone certainly conveyed that the ensign had no choice. He was going to sit in this office, as much as he didn’t want to.

Sathut, CNS

Dius warily took a chair away from Thorne but closer to the door, so that if he felt threatened he could bolt and neither the counsellor or the Captain would be in a position to stop him.

– Ensign Dius Olsen Bogir, Scientist

Sathut pressed the button that would close the door, giving them privacy. “Now, Ensign. Would you please close your eyes for a moment and calm down. You too, captain,” he insisted, closing his own eyes to demonstrate. Once they seemed slightly calmed down, he spoke again. “Ensign Bogir, I understand that you aren’t a fan of counselors, but if you cannot work out this working relationship on your own, I am forced to intercede. Now, can you tell me, from the beginning, what has made you so hostile to Captain Thorne? Captain, please do not interrupt or say anything, I will hear your side of the situation shortly,” he instructed.

Sathut
CNS
OOC: I really hope i’m going about this in the proper way!

OOC: You are doing fine!!! Don’t worry, we are ‘playing’ here.

IC:
Shirazi looked over at Bogir. “Oh this should be good.”

Sathut sent Thorne a withering look, warning her to shut up. He didn’t want to hear a peep from her.

“Captain Thorne has made me hostile towards Captain Thorne.” Dius said with a slight emphasis on the first Captain. “She demands all, gives nothing and attempts to bluedgeon any objection with her rank. She acts like a petulant, entitled teenager, who abuses her authority with me whenever frustrated. She has threatened incarceration and reassignment because I do not immediately kow tow to her overblown ego.”

Dius paused and his eyes glinted with something hard as he fixed the counsellor with his stare. “I want to make clear, that I have never failed to comply with orders given in a professional on duty context. That the Federation grants me an UNEQUIVOCAL right to my privacy, to choose to not answer. To share of myself with whom and how and when I please. From that all else follows.”

– Ensign Dius Olsen Bogir, Scientist

Now Thorne looked at the counselor. “Well, that was all very vague, wasn’t it? Why don’t you ask the Ensign for specific instances and details of these charges he’s lobbing in my direction?” That was the problem with Bogir though, he NEVER gave details!!! That was why she was confused every time they had words with each other. It was like she was talking on one subject and he was talking on another.

—Thorne, CO

“Thorne, I told you not to speak. Please keep that inn mind,” Sathut said calmly, then looked back to Bogir. “I don’t give a flying feather about your personal life outside or before this ship. But in matters that concern your ability to serve aboard the Olympic, you have no right to keep your mouth shut. Your little ‘shelter’ does not cover matters that threaten the ability of this crew to work as a unit. And if you don’t like that, I have every right, as my duty entails me, to recommend that you be removed from Starfleet and returned to your home planet.” He had endured one session with this man, and had learned that the carrot approach didn’t work to get Bogir to listen. Well, now he was trying the stick.

“Now, Ensign Bogir. Start from the beginning and tell me… how did you meet Captain Bogir? What exactly did she do the day you met, that made you feel as though being hostile was your only option? I will allow no generalizations. I want examples of specific events. And that goes for you as well, when it comes to your turn, Captain,” he looked at the captain for a moment before his gaze settled heavily on Bogir.

Sathut
CNS

OOC: to be honest, I didn’t really follow the train of thought in Bogir’s dialogue. It got a bit “fragmented non-sentences” at points.

Sathut could tell exactly that while the carrot approach wasn’t working, that the stick was exactly the wrong approach with Dius. Half way through his speech, DIus’ face blanked out, all expression smoothed out as he just shut down. Like gates slamming shut as Dius retreated behind an emotional wall so thick it was unbreachable. Sathut would have seen such reactions before, as a coping mechanism to deal with complex, insistent repeat psychological trauma.

Dius stood and unpinned the comm badge from his uniform and tossed it down on the table as he sadly said. “Take it then, be like all the others who want something from me. Smile, rage, threaten. But I will not be held hostage. Beyond this, you can’t take from me what I am not willing to give.” Then he just turned and walked out the door.

However for Thorne, something about that exact phrase rang for her. She had heard that phrase before, writ large in her nightmares about being chased and hunted.
