Sathut (Counselor) in CNS Office, TAG Ensign Stargazer : : : : : : : : : :He had to admit, the next person on his list shocked him. A felinoid alien! Ooh, this would be lovely to meet. He had met the Caitians, and they were quite the intriguing species, but it seemed as though this individual was of another breed. He was shocked by how many species like his existed in the galaxy. Caitians, Raka, and now this… Aiorian. He pressed his comm. =^=Sathut to Ensign Stargazer. Please come to my office. I’d like to meet with you for an evaluation. At your earliest convenience, of course. Sathut out.=^= : : : : : : : : : : He purred slightly to himself and grabbed his empty Jinnen cup, refilling it before realizing, to his delight, he had no one left on his list. : : : : : : : : : : - Sathut : : : : : : : : Star had been getting off his shift when the announcement came over the Comm. He resolved that first he would get groomed and then he would go meet this new crewmate. While he knew he didn’t smell bad, humans tended to get quite odoriferous when unwashed, he still thought a shower would be wise. The mix of his spicy personal scent could be strong even to a human’s dead nose and a confined space might not be ideal to stay in. He’d been told it wasn’t an unpleasant smell, just a surprise, personally he didn’t really get how his scent could be ‘surprising’, but it was what it was. He typically dressed in clothing from his own home, though he had things that were more human, though as he pondered it these things were his uniform and formal wear. : : : : : : : : In the end he adopted for comfortable over uniform. He dresed simply, well for his race, a dark grey wrap for his waist that looked very like an egyptian style kilt. Around the hem were pointed edges that were small black tooth shaped beads. His feet from just above his foot along the long bones to his ankle were wrapped with firm leather protecting the tendons. His hands, wrist and half way up his forearms were likewise wrapped, but the wrapping held more decoration in the form of animal patters stitched in colors to match the kilt. He added a fine bone, wood and silver collar and then a few feather clips in his mane that were white with silver glittering beads. The collar hung from his shoulders, dipping between them in the back along his neck and hung down across his chest in neatly flat square plaques. The silver edged the wood and bone adding a glint of metal, but it had no carvings or gems, just plain simplicity. All in all he looked very outlandish compared to what humans commonly wore, but he was incredibly plane dressed compared to the standards of his breed. He replaced the onyx rings in his ears with his normal gold and bone loops instead. : : : : : : : : He slipped silently from his quarters and headed for the office, as he got near however he paused, sniffing the air with curiosity. There was another feline race on board the ship. His scent was a new, a race he wasn’t familiar with, he was older than himself and male, he wasn’t used to other furred races and he had to resist the urge to growl. It was that instinctive urge when walking into another’s territory, but he smoothed his ruffled fur and ignored it. The closer he got to where he needed to go, the more he got, this stranger was new and his scent wasn’t so ingrained within the space and once at the door he realized that the Councilor himself was the very stranger he was to meet. This was…going to be interesting. He lightly knocked on the door, he avoided the chime, different compared to how humans would lean on the chime and make one’s fur stand on end, his chime was adjusted so that the noise didn’t set his teeth on edge. He doubted that the councilor would have had that calibrated yet. : : : : : : : : —Star : : : : : : “Come on in!” A deep voice called, the rumbling of a purr audible as the door slid open. The decor of the office was strange, to say the least. Other than the nice, human-sized couch, everything looked like it had been manufactured for a child. The desk was half the height of a normal one, and even the computer looked small. There was a chair opposite to the couch that, strangely, was proportioned for a child but was tall, almost like a high chair. The counselor himself, well… : : : : : : The man was a feline alien, to be sure, but likely not what Star had expected. He was, in conjunction with the small furniture, absolutely tiny. It wasn’t clear right now, as he was sitting at his desk, but Sathut was only three feet tall, and that was remarkably tall for his species. He wore a sleeveless flowing Turquoise robe, with gold, silver, and reddish embroidery covering it in intricate detail. Honestly he’d rather wear nothing in regards to cloth, but that didn’t seem to be approved of around here. : : : : : : On his ears were a selection of bright golden rings, some with small gems embedded in them. His wrists bore woven rope bracelets, the right arm wrapped from wrist to elbow in braided twine. His right leg, although not visible from where he was seated, bore an intricate silver brace, the metal woven in its own patterns. : : : : : : He tilted his head at the sight of the other non-human, and his mouth opened briefly to take in the other male’s scent. Whiskers twitched, but he was not threatened by Stargazer’s presence. Raka were a social species, and a monogamous one at that. Male competition was not, in that regard, so much of a important thing. : : : : What Star had been expecting was not at all what lay before his paws. The diminutive furniture as well as the small felinoid was quite a sight. He paused at the door taking it all in, but didn’t come in any further feeling rather like he was intruding. He stepped fully in, but kept close to the door, said door swishing behind him. : : : : : : The small alien stood and walked to the open door to greet his guest. “Greetings,” he said, his head dipping respectfully. His palm rested on his chest, then extended out in a graceful motion towards his guest. “May your hearts beat strongly, and your love grow wide,” he spoke as he performed the action, then pulled his hand back, folding his hands in front of himself. : : : : : : When he did this, it would be shown to Stargazer that on his hand he had three fingers and a thumb, as opposed to the regular four and a thumb. “Thank you for coming, please, take a seat,” he spoke, gesturing to the comfortable looking couch, then moving over to his chair and gracefully leaping into it. He sat like a house cat, his hands folded beneath his chest. : : : : : : - Sathut : : : : Star was rather taken aback, his ears flicking back as he stared “Same..to you.” He was caught with a knife keen rush of homesickness, the gesture was almost like a greeting from his own people and the welcome? Different words, but they too had something alike. “I was expecting another of the furless… I get up here and my nose told me something of you its....a surprise. Sorry if I’m a little…odd, it is not every day that I feel like I’ve walked into another’s territory, expected or otherwise.” : : : : Star’s paws had five fingers, they had fine mobility, yet that was as far as the similarities to a human limb it went. He slipped to the couch and laid along it’s length, his legs stretched as his upper body was propped up by his arms, like a cat taking over a space. He forgoed the usual manner he would take around humans and instead just did what came naturally, what usually went as far as manners could easily be left at the door. “If you need some things for your quarters built, I can lend you a paw. I have some improvements to mine that I would be happy to share…” : : : : —Star : : “Ah, yes. I suppose it will be quite the surprise to all of the crew the first time they have an interaction with me,” the small alien chuckled. He was a light-hearted person, kind and gentle. He noticed his guest spreading over the couch and that made him smile wider. As a counselor, he wanted his guests to feel their most comfortable at all times. “Now, by now I’m sure you’ve realized why I’ve asked you here, right?” He asked, tilting his head slightly. His ear twitched. One ear flicked minutely, a shrug and not the usual human gesture, his tail also flicked at the tip since his current posture wasn’t suited for the usual method he had adopted with the furless. “No notation of a nose to nose recorded in my file, your summons correcting the missing information.” : : His long tail draped over the side of the chair, the end of it twitching. “And in regards to territory, please don’t be bothered by my smell. In my species, we don’t really have the concept, although I understand it. You can think of me as a male of another species, with my own mate incompatible with you, and a different prey group. Perhaps that will put you at ease when you find my smell around the ship?” He suggested thoughtfully. Hmm, it would be strange to counsel this one… But at the same time it was going to be an adventure he welcomed. Star gave a snort and chuckled “It is more the ‘there is another feline predator here on what had been ‘my’ ship, is it a threat to my dominance or weak and thus prey?’ which has my instincts throwing a hissy fit. My kind evolved further when the first dominant race and all the land predators had been wiped out by some catastrophe. So, we aren’t all that far removed from our most basic instincts like say the humans are. It isn’t as bad as it would be with the canine breed of my people, the Cantian males are more geared to aggression and hierarchy than my breed is or the other two, the females don’t have that issue. It won’t cause me too much fuss, I can give it a pat and send it on it’s way.” : : “Now, moving on, I suppose I haven’t properly introduced myself, and I would like to hear your introduction, to know what about yourself you find to be the most important aspects,” Sathut purred, his voice deep. “I am Sathut, I am from the planet Galdor, third planet around our Star, Enris. I am a Raka, one of five sapient races originating from my world. I am the only one of my family who is in Starfleet, and one of approximately two dozen Galdori in total who are a part of Starfleet. I love Jinnen,” he gestured to his cup, which had found its way to a small shelf he had installed right next to his chair, which on second glance looked strikingly like a cat tower. “Would you like some? You seem to be in the attire for relaxation. Just got off your shift?” : : Jinnen was a lovely liquid with a wonderful effect. Unlike coffee, which increased the heartbeat and woke a person up, but also tended to make them jittery, Jinnen was a calming drink. It slowed down the body without slowing down the mind, allowing stressed people to relax and focus on their work. It originated on Galdor, and likely hadn’t gotten too far out of it. : : - Sathut Star smirked “Yes, I did get off shift and I would love to try this new tea. I honestly wouldn’t know what to say, I find myself rather uninteresting to be honest, it is much easier to answer questions since it gives me a better idea on what you might find more interesting.” —Star

“Well, it’s not really my job to find out what I find interesting about you. It is my job to figure out what is important to you. But if you insist, I will ask more specific questions. Where are you from?” he asked as he stepped over to the Replicator. “What was your family like? Did you have a family? Why are you in security?”

Sathut

Star much preferred specifics anyways “My homeworld is in the Deltra quadrant, our main planet is called Aioria, my colony world is called Tannari. My home is the youngest colony and we mainly supplied goods for ship building and then we provided wood, stone, textiles and fruit. My father is an engineer along with the Speaker for our colony and my mother is the Silkmistress in charge of the silk grubs for our town. I have two twin brothers, younger than myself, by now they are at the tail end of their teenage years… When I went missing they were still nursing, hadn’t even grown into their permanent fur patterns yet. As for why I chose security, well…I suppose I did it on whim. I had been working on majoring in counseling, but they had put on an interesting show and I found myself switching. I have plenty of time to poke my nose into each field, barring any unforseen accidents or something, my race is long lived so I have two hundred and twenty five years before I would be considered ‘old’.”

—Star

The counselor nodded, intrigued. “How did you come to be in the Alpha quadrant if your homeworld is in the Delta Quadrant?” he asked, then quickly added. “Just a reminder, if there is ever a question that I ask and you are not fully comfortable answering it, you are fully within your rights to refuse to answer. My job today is to evaluate your psychological condition, not to pry into your secrets,” he spoke. “And recall, anything you say in here stays in this room, between me and you, unless it threatens the health or safety of the Ship or her crew,” he explained.

Sathut

Star looked away and swallowed, his tail curling close to his side, his ears backing slightly. “If you are wondering if being alone has taken a toll…” He breathed and sighed heavily and then shrugged “It’s a burden I’ve adjusted to. I have a long path ahead of me, but…I hold out hope that one day my people will make contact within my lifetime. It’s not exactly comforting, but it is a stone easily carried.”

He looked over at the counselor, his green eyes had leagues of sadness, but he wasn’t unstable because of it nor at risk of doing anything stupid. “The space around our system is a hot spot for micro wormholes. Every fifteen years one opens up, well we didn’t get the notice that one was waking and…on my first solo flight after learning to fly, I got swallowed. The small ship wasn’t designed to deal with such pulling force and none of the emergency systems were of any use, but I managed to survive and ended up making my home within the Federation. I’m not the first to go missing, but I have found no evidence that any of my kind made it to these parts. I am an ensign however, so if there are others like me within Starfleet I wouldn’t likely be told… As for secrets, I have none. My people are not given to lies, nor secrets, they are too easily sniffed out and a lot more trouble than they are worth.”
