Winston blinked. It didn’t sound like this was supposed to happen after all. A sense of excitement coursed through him as ‘something’ was actually ‘happening’ and that he was a part of it. Hopefully not a failed ‘part’. A moment of thought later and he tapped his comm badge. =^= Hillchurch to Engineering. =^=
Reno replied. He sounded a bit more awake. =^= Crawford here. What do you need Winston? =^=
=^= Did our transporters just fire? The bo-body just got transported out. Can we ch-check the pattern buffers for an ID? =^=
=^= Winston, what is going on down there? =^= Reno asked, his southern accent taking over some.
=^= I don’t know =^= Winston said softly, shuffling nervously from one foot to another.
=^= Stand by. I’ll check. =^=

Oberon smiled and nodded at Winston. “Check the logs, also run diagnostic because I’m guessing they probably bypassed something or alerted the logs. Look for anomalies.” She mouthed the words ‘good job’ at him.

The Captain arrived on the scene within two minutes of the call. “Lt Oberon, walk me through what you found.”

—Thorne, CO

Winston, Eng

Shortly thereafter .. =^= Sural to Lt Oberon. The bridge has issued a request to have two security guards placed at each transporter room. I might advise to include the four cargo bay transporters as well. =^= He was sure she would know that there were a dozen transporter rooms and four cargo transporters.
- Sural, CE

Oberon nodded though Sural wouldn’t see, =^=Covered, Chief… Protocol dictates all transporter device locations, including transporter rooms and cargo bays, as well as the the landing bays. =^= It was nice she wasn’t the only one thinking. And she was grateful for protocols in place so the officer on duty knew exactly what to do without get holding their hand.

Collin was only a few minutes after the Captain. He was in uniform, medkit slung over his shoulder. He took in the scene. The open Jeffries Tube. Oberon and Winston beginning to fill Thorne in on the events.

“Lieutenant,” he greeted Oberon. “Inside the tube?”

Harding, CMO

Pretha smiled and getting the two newest members to the party. “No idea what’s going on. Thought I saw something, and when I glanced around, I saw the blood stain. I opened the panel in time to make it a body of some kind just before it beamed away. I couldn’t grab it quick enough to disrupt the transport.” The underlying growl in her voice was enough to let both the Captain and Doc know that she was already busy kicking herself for slow reflexes.

“Winston has engineering looking for the signature and security had been dispatched.” While she knew that, so far at least, they had covered their bases… There were still too many variables and possibilities.

Suddenly she missed that stupid fair Holo program… At least there she’s gotten a chance to relax… If just for a moment.

Lt JG Pretha Oberon
CoS

OOC: Okay, so in this thread no one has told us about the transporting to the buffer etc?

IC:
“Doctor, you should get a sample of the bloodstain and see if there are any traces of DNA left in the tube.” =/\=Bridge, Thorne here. Do we have a headcount for all crew? Someone was beamed out so we should be short a body for the roster. Report when you have an answer.=/\=

“Oberon, did you get a glimpse of anything that would help us with identification of the body? And what was it you thought you saw that made you investigate?” Shirazi’s tone was professional but there was a hint of compassion there too. The COS hadn’t done a thing wrong so far and it was important that was conveyed to her in some way.

—Thorne, CO

Collin nodded toward Shirazi and, unfurling his tricorder, found himself peering into the Jeffries’ tube. He could see the blood pool that was left behind and proceeded to scan the sample.

Reno called Hillchurch. =^= Winston, this is Reno. We’ve got news here. Hope that the security chief is close by to hear too. The transporter logs were encyrpted to hide the transport. We got in and found that they had basically beamed the pattern into the plasma exhaust of the nacelle. No body. But we’ve found out who it was. A James Gully. Science. Botany division. I know the guy. A total flirt. Probably a half dozen ladies on board, or their partners, who might want to do something like that, but that’s just me talking. I’m sending a profile image of Jimmy down to yours and the Chief of Security’s PaDD for a visual. =^=

Reno, Eng NE

A few moments later the CSO arrived on the scene. He looked at the Captain and said “What can we do to assist, Captain?”

Beid, CSO

Exiting the tube, Collin gave a half-hearted smiled to Beid. He liked the scientist. As a rule he liked most people, but a few managed to make a special impression on the doctor. Shirazi of course, but Oberon with whom he’d found himself locked in a cell on a cruel world, and Beid who’d been indispensable on their last mission, dealing with unruly children and vicious beetles had earned his trust and respect.

“Lieutenant,” he looked at the Trill CSO, “I’ve retrieved a sample of our victims DNA. It sounds like Engineering believes they’ve made an identification, but it may be best if we confirm.”

Harding, CMO

Oberon moved aside as the work of the investigation began. Stepping to the side of the Doc closest to the CO, she shook her head. “I was just out for a walk. I thought I saw … something. But when I turned the corner, nothing and no one was here. Figured it was my imagination. But something made me look down and I saw the blood drop.” The scene replayed itself in her mind over and over. “When I saw the blood, I looked around the other corners,” she motioned to the direction the Captain had come from. “There was nothing. I figured I had just missed them, so I banged the wall in frustration. My hand slammed the loose panel and it fell. Winston was here, saw it fall. I looked inside thinking maybe someone was hiding in there. That’s …” she shook her head and half growled feeling inept. “That’s all I remember. We didn’t see anyone else.”

The idea that it was a crewman had struck Oberon. What hadn’t crossed her mind, was it was someone she knew. She wasn’t overly friendly with the botanist. But she had known the crewman well enough to mourn his passing. Into the nacelle… she didn’t like where this was going. Something told her dinner with the XO wasn’t going to happen tonight. She had invited him to her quarters to make them dinner. But if things were this chaotic now, she had the inclination that it wouldn’t let up before dinner.

Lt JG Oberon
CoS

Pretha’s comm badge chirped with a message from the bridge.

=^=Lt. Oberon, the is the XO. I want a security detail to meet me at Ens. Gully’s cabin on deck 7. Room 708.=^=

Odinson (XO)

=/\=Good call, Cmdr. I am currently at the site where the body was found. I will keep you informed. You do the same.=/\=

—Thorne, CO

OOC: Okay, technical question before I post. Aren’t there cameras all over the ship? In ST episodes, they are always calling up replays of corridors and such to find things? So, I need to know if Thorne can ask for the vids to be reviewed?
