Ready Room

Posted May 26, 2022, 5:47 p.m. by Lieutenant Bryn Shar (Counselor) (D Grisham)

After arriving the night before, Bryn hadn’t had a chance to see much of the ship, but today she was paying attention. Having never served on a Brazen class before, everything she saw interested her. She managed to find her way to deck 8 and the bridge, entering it to several looks of interest as she was a new face. Making a beeline for the door that she hoped led to the Ready Room, she smoothed her uniform front and took a deep breath before palming the chime for entrance.

OOC: Ooops. Sorry I missed this, D.

IC: “Entre’,” came the Cajun accented voice from within the office.

The doors slid open to reveal Wolverine CO Capt. Remy Boudreaux. A mischievous sparkling in his eyes and charming grin was framed by his shaggy dark hair and neatly trimmed goatee. The man was obviously not one to follow all the rules and regulations documented in Starfleets Officers Manual.

He stood from behind his desk and welcomed the new counselor. “Lt. Shar, welcome to de Wolverine. Please, ‘ave a seat.”

Boudreaux (CO)

“Thank you, Sir.” She made her way across the room and sat across the desk from Boudreaux. “I arrived in the wee hours last night but didn’t wan to disturb you. I hope it’s alright that I waited until this morning to report in?” The first meeting with a new commanding officer was important. While he was assessing her, she was doing the same to him.

Remy smiled at the memory of last night. It was a brief, but intense wee hours that he and Alita had celebrated her recent promotion.

“You ‘ave no idea ‘ow much I appreciate you’ considera-SHONs and waiting until this mornine, Counselor.”

‘Normally, I offer my new staff members a bourbon as a welcomine gift, but it may be a bit early fo’ dat. Per’aps a coffee, or tea?”

“I ‘ave to admit, Lt. dat you are de first Feerlan I ‘ave met. I read you’ file and species profile and can understand why dere are very few Ferlan in Starfleet, an’ dose dat are, are unmarried. I s’pose it is a good tine de Wolverine is a small ship. You an’ you’ spouse will no’ be very far apart, but what ‘bout when you or he are on away mis-SHONS? ‘As dere been any considera-SHON of ‘ow to make dis work?”

Boudreaux (CO)

“Coffee would be wonderful, Sir, double cream, please.”

He turned to the replicator and put in Bryn’s order. A moment later, Remy turned back and hander a cup of steaming coffee just as she had requested.

She was still feeling logy from the trip and the more caffeine she could load into her system, the better. “As far as the logistics of my spouse and I, I’m afraid that either we both go on the mission or we both stay on the ship. He is a trained counselor too, Captain. That’s how we met at the Academy. Our careers will take longer to progress because we take turns applying for assignments. That seemed the only fair way to do it, however, he is also a Star Fleet officer so his presence on an away mission wouldn’t cause any trouble, technically.”

“I ‘ave to ask you an ‘onest quest-SHON, an’ one dat I will pose to you’ ‘usband as well. Couples. . . married couples are sometimes great togedder when off duty, but when on duty, dere can be some ten-SHON in certain situa-SHONS. De opposite can also be true, an’ sometimes de get along fabulously, do matter what de situa_SHON may be. Now, I am no’ qust-SHONing you’ profe-SHON-alism, but ‘as this caused issues for eder of you’ in de past?”

Boudreaux (CO)

She took a sip of the coffee and relaxed just a little. “My spouse and I don’t have a personal relationship, Captain. We were tricked into the ceremony without knowing who the other was. We don’t live in the same quarters, usually. It’s a little cramped here on the Wolverine but I was going to ask if there was any way to assign one of us a different living space? We are not friends or lovers, but manage to maintain a professional relationship when required to.”
