Sarah made her way back onto the bridge, she felt better that they had some sort of a plan. Even if it was only half a plan, and a pretty bad one at that. But they had a chance now.

=^= Allen to Kiernan. I need you to get a security team down to the planet’s surface to backup our landing party. How long do you need? =^=

Captain Allen - CO

=/\=Not long sir. 10 minutes to get the team together and to the transporter room.=/\=

-Lt Cmdr Sara Kiernan, XO

=^= Understood XO. Check in with Lieutenant Hawkins before beaming down. She will advise you regarding any last minute details. =^=

Now just to sit back and see how the engineers get the ship up and running again.

Captain Allen - CO

While they were working on that, there was a blip on the short range sensor array. The faster than light systems were virtually ineffective with the loss of warp power, but the short range sub light systems were fairly effective. It was a small ship, consistent with the pirate vessel noted hours earlier, rising for the planet.

It had appeared but then turned counter to the location of the Chimera and was “hiding” for now behind the planet, Where the Chimera weakened scanners couldn’t see them. But if the ship had full power, the reverse was not true.

Having finished her check ins, Sheriye was taking a turn on the bridge science station and was snapped out of her reverie by the blips. She started and her ears perked forward as she leaned toward the sensor display and studied it.
“Ah, ssirr? Small sship, ssimilarr to prreviouss sscanss of the pirrate ssshipss has jusst sshot arround the planet. We have losst them due to ourr diminished ssenssorr cabality.”

Sheriye CSO

“Any word on their heading Lieutenant? Any threat to our team on the planet?”

Captain Allen - CO

Sheriye’s eyes narrowed in concentration as she studied her board to see what the ship was doing.

This ship lifted off from the planet and headed behind it. It is far distant from it’s take-off site by now, which was very close to the landing party. If the ship was a threat, it was less of one every second as it moved away from the landing party. But a star-ship even a half a planet away was a threat to a dozen people on the ground, just not an immediate one.

GM

“It appearss to be moving away frrom the team’ss location, sirr. It would sseem morre like they arre fleeing. Checking the sscanss forr arrmamentss.” She checked the scans for the ship’s shield and weapon signatures.

Sheriye CSO

The ship power profile was consistent with the pirate ship they were seeking. Weapons were not particularly advanced, and normally wouldn’t be a match for the Chimera, 10 class 4 disrupter, two forward facing photon torpedoes and one facing aft. There was also one aft facing hardpoint that the scanners couldn’t identify, although it had a high power output ability.

“Keep an eye on it Lieutenant. In the meantime, also see if there is any evidence of other ships in the area. I want to know what we might potentially have to go up against.”

Whatever the away team was doing, Sarah hope that they were still safe. But for now, she had bigger problems to worry about, like keeping the Chimera running.

Captain Allen - CO

GM

“Weaponss and sshieldss not ass comparrable to the Chimerra though therre iss a sstrange rreading frrom the aft ssection, Captain. It could be a morre powerrful arrmament as it appearss to be able to put out a high powerr allotment.” Sheriye tried to fine tune her scan to see if she could get a more clearer reading on the unknown item. While the scans ran she set up an automated alarm to warn of any other incoming ships.

Sheriye CSO

“Not comparable to us if we were fully operational. But I bet we are a bit more evenly matched with our power issues. That would be a problem…”

Sarah trailed off as she thought about what they were going up against. And what could that be at the rear of the ship. “It sure seems a weird placement for a primary weapon, unless it is used when they are trying to escape. But it still doesn’t make sense. Are you sure it is a weapon? Not an engine of some sort?”

Captain Allen - CO

“Unssurre, Captain. Trrying to fine tune the sscanss now.” Sheriye said as she checked her results.

Sheriye CSO

That was all the CSO was able to get. Without the warp drive the sensors were limited to line of sight and sub light scanning. Which would be very problematic if the Orion ship wanted to attack from warp within the solar system. A very dangerous exercise with all the gravitational fields…

OOC: Cross posting…

=/\=Kiernan to Chimera. Prepare a focused tachyon beam targeted between our present location and the fortress ahead of us. Fire on my mark.=/\= “Everyone gather yourselves. We’ll be moving soon.”

=^= Commander, what is going on down there? =^= Sarah asked as she looked over at Sheriye. She wasn’t even sure if the Chimera could fire a tachyon beam.

=/\=Captain. We need a few minutes of ground cover. There are sensor traps set up all along our path. They’re Tachyon based. If the internal workings are designed to react to changes in a tachyon based field, the addition of new tachyon beams is a change their computer might not be ready for. It might trip all the sensors with information they don’t understand.=/\=

-Lt Cmdr Sara Kiernan, XO

=/\=Chimera. Fire… now.=/\=

-Lt Cmdr Sara Kiernan

Sarah raised an eyebrow. Not much warning, she really wondered if the Commander had even bothered to look at the status of the Chimera before heading to the surface, because she wasn’t sure if they could even create a stable tachyon beam.

“Lieutenant, see if we can generate the tachyon beam that the Commander is asking for.”

Captain Allen - CO

Power was certainly an issue, but given the relatively low intensity beam that they would need the Chimera could do it even at their reduced energy level but in any case it would still be Peter robbing Paul. The second they needed the ship to do anything else they would have to cut the tachyon and during the use of the tachyon use the sensors would be useless.

GM

Sheriye frowned as her fingers flew over the console checking power levels to see if it was possible.”We can…Captain but barrely. We would need to cut it off though if any otherr action is rrequired.”

Sheriye CSO

Xanrae knew there was not a thing in Sickbay that another officer couldn’t do. Thus, the young doctor found her way to the bridge, in case it’s staff required anything of the medical department, who had yet a proper representative to be on the bridge, should anything be needed. With a basic medical kit, which she always carried, the Ensign stepped onto the bridge, quietly finding herself to the side, her words few and far between.

OOC: Just bumping this back up:)

“I can set up the tachyon burst, Captain.” Sheriye said as her paws flashed over the console putting in the requisite commands. Once she had completed the programming she looked up again. =^=Tachyon burst ready, Commander.=^= She looked toward the security station to see who was manning it.
“At your command, Lt. Tenkiller.”

Sheriye CSO

=/\=Fire at will Sheriye.=/\= Came the XO’s voice.

-Lt Cmdr Sara Kiernan, XO

The beams made no sounds and had no viable effect outside the ship, but there was both a low whine and a clear dip in the ambient lighting.

A few moment later, the passive sensors picked up a ship’s weapons systems locking on to the Chimera.

GM

Sarah looked around the bridge as the lighting dimmed. “Update on our status. How much power did we lose?”

Captain Allen - CO
