“Ok. Here’s what we do. These are simple tachyon based sensors.” Sara’s eyes flitted back and forth. “A tachyon beam could confuse the sensors. Either trigger them all simultaneously, or create a field for us to cross.” =/\=Kiernan to Chimera. Prepare a focused tachyon beam targeted between our present location and the fortress ahead of us. Fire on my mark.=/\= “Everyone gather yourselves. We’ll be moving soon.”

=^= Commander, what is going on down there? =^= Sarah asked as she looked over at Sheriye. She wasn’t even sure if the Chimera could fire a tachyon beam.

=/\=Captain. We need a few minutes of ground cover. There are sensor traps set up all along our path. They’re Tachyon based. If the internal workings are designed to react to changes in a tachyon based field, the addition of new tachyon beams is a change their computer might not be ready for. It might trip all the sensors with information they don’t understand.=/\=

=/\=Chimera. Fire… now.=/\=

-Lt Cmdr Sara Kiernan

OOC I can’t presume the chimera is doing anything.. Ill cross post and see what the Captain does.

Luke

Sarah raised an eyebrow. Not much warning, she really wondered if the Commander had even bothered to look at the status of the Chimera before heading to the surface, because she wasn’t sure if they could even create a stable tachyon beam.

“Lieutenant, see if we can generate the tachyon beam that the Commander is asking for.”

Captain Allen - CO

Talkrit looked about for a moment, “What is a tach-e-on beam and how can your ship reach the land.” He looked towards the ocean then towards the sky. “Our longest cannon can not reach more than kilometer, mayhap two.”

GM

“It is quite a complex story to tell,” Neribi murmured, preparing for the word to move out.

~Asani Neribi~

Talkrit looked for a moment inquisitively. “We appear to have plenty of time.” He responded as he waited to see if this Taychon beam was to be used.

“Would we see this beam, will there be an explosion?”

“No, it disrupts things, sort of like magic, without really exploding anything,” Neribi replied.

Talkrit - GM

From the bridge of the Chimera a discussion could be heard between the Captain and the CSO and eventually the Caitian Science Officer’s voice came over the comm.
=^=Tachyon burst ready, Commander.=^=

Sheriye CSO

=/\=Fire at will Sheriye.=/\= Sara looked out, glancing back and forth between her tricorder and the field. “Be ready to move.” She said to the team.

-Lt Cmdr Sara Kiernan, XO

There was no visual evidence that the Tachyon beam was fired. The hand held tricorders of the officers noted there was a flood of particles that overloaded the sensing systems of the Orions, both concealing the Federations approach while simultaneously likely alerting the inhabitants that something weird was going on.

GM

“Move. They probably know something’s wrong, but they don’t know where. Move and move fast.” Sara waved the team on.

-Lt Cmdr Sara Kiernan, XO

“Aye,” Neribi replied, moving out quickly, but with awareness and caution, keeping her eyes and ears open for signs of an impending attack.

~Asani Neribi~

“This is insane,” Talkrit commented as the leapt forward with the rest of the Federation officers spear gun in hand. “We did much the same, when we attacked a few days ago… although we targeted the gate, what is this tay-key-on, beam that this assault would be more successful than the last… with fewer marines.”

Kate motioned her marines forward, and they left up, running towards the fortress. She sprinted forward so she was in the lead, covering the XO for whatever he had planned. She didn’t have to look back to know her squad had spread out, with half joining her up front, while the rest staid back behind the rest of the team, keeping them covered from all angles.

2nd Lt Hawkins - Marine

There wasn’t much going on at first beyond the mad pounding of the feet of the Federation officers. Never did 2500 meters seem so far. On a good day, an in shape officer could cover that distance in 10 minutes, perhaps less, but ten minutes was a long time crossing a relatively open field.

With the sounds of heaving breathing and pounding in their ears, they almost didn’t make out the sounds of moving/shifting dirt. It was as if a doorway in the ground was being opened.... perhaps one, perhaps a half dozen.

GM

Clear the field!” Sara called, loud as she dared. She, unlike those she lead, stopped and opened her tricorder. She had heard some sort of faint sound. Something underground. She knelt down, hoping to catch it soon. Whatever it was.

-Lt Cmdr Sara Kiernan, XO

-bump-

There was some confused looks as the groups scattered. Many continued towards the fortress wall. If they were going to run they might as well run in the right direction… forward.

As Kiernan opened her tricorder it revealed a series of underground passageways leading from the for to various strategic positions along the field. It now became so obvious why the Orions were able to massacre the Nelay marines, aside from a huge technological advantage, they also had the advantage of preparation and positioning. Two things it seemed that they continued to possess.

GM

They’re under us.” Sara took a deep breath. “Jesus.” she had to get her team clear. She thought for a moment of history classes in school. Earth’s First World War. They were in no man’s land. She stood up, turned, and ran after her team. Again as loud as she dared “Underground tunnels! Hit the fortress!” She’d have time to explain later. For now, it was all about surviving.

-Lt Cmdr Sara Kiernan, XO
