The doors to the bridge slid open less than a minute later and the Security Chief stepped onto the bridge. “Status, Ms. Keen.” he said to the Ensign at the security station. “Orions incoming, Chief. Weapons lock on us. Tachyon drained us by 15%. We can do shields, weapons, or sensors. Not all of them. Maybe two at a time… if we are lucky.”

Tenkiller raised shields immediately. “We can’t do anything if a single salvo blows us apart. Captain, recommend arming only torpedo bays. They won’t use as much power, and we don’t need sensors to back up the targeting computer to fire a few spreads and knock them around a bit. One photon followed by a round of quantum, and they should back off at least.” and he began programming a firing solution that would but a large spread directly in front of the Orion vessel and then another, more powerful, to back them away.

Tenkiller, CoS

Sheriye sighed in relief and Tenkiller barrelled onto the bridge and took over. She was a natural predator but that was warm, living things she could chase down. Not ship board warfare.

Sheriye CSO

Heather Argeneau was off the lift after the Security Chief and heading towards the bridge station on the bridge so she can communicate between the bridge and Main Engineering.

Heather Argeneau, CE.

“Firing solution set. Ready to launch. 3 second interval between salvos.”

Tenkiller, CoS

Tenkiller looked at the CSO. “What is the status on the Away Team?” he asked as his finger hovered over the launch controls.

Tenkiller, CoS

“I will find out,” Sheriye immediately said as she keyed open the comms again.=^=Chimerra to Commanderr Kierrnan. Sstatuss, ssirr? We arre currrently underr attack but need to know yourr ssituation.=^= She also checked the sensors to see if she could tell anything about the situation where the away team was.

Sheriye CSO

The shields didn’t quite snap on, but they did respond after a moment when the Taychon beam was cut and not a second too early. As the Chimera was rocked aggressively from the first volley of the Orion/Pirate ship. It was a wave of disrupter fire and a second way of photon torpedoes were on the way.

The shields weren’t near at full power and the shots dropped them from the weak point where they were at to 50%. The Orion ship normally wouldn’t be close to a match for the Chimera, but now it seemed that the Chimera was at a significant disadvantage.

GM

“Give me any power we have to the shields!” yelled Tenkiller and then, without waiting, fired off the torpedo spreads. As they launched, he tried to place the quantum salvo closer to the Orion vessel than before. His original thought was to drive them off. Now his only goal was making sure they weren’t around to destroy the Chimera; even if that meant the destruction of the Orion’s ship.

Tenkiller, CoS

Heather’s fingers moved over the console with grace and experience working with Engineering to give what power they could to the shields and taking it from any non-essential systems they could find it for. “I’m giving you what I can for power to the shields,” Heather informed Tenkiller.

Heather Argeneau, CE

The lights dimmed momentarily but the shield firmed up a bit, pushing back over 60%. The Orion ship burst to full impulse swinging close then over the Chimera moving to her aft. She was forcing the Chimera to maneuver with speed. Making multiple demands from a depleted source.

As soon as the torpedoes were clear, Tenkiller sent out a security alert. =/\= All non-essential personnel move to shelter and preliminary evac positions. Security teams secure all spaces and prepare for boarding operations. =/\= He then looked at the XO and said “Ma’am, if we can get their shields down, I can take a boarding team over. We may not have the teeth we normally do, but we probably outnumber them. And if we have their ship, we have what we need to fix this one. And I doubt they’d be expecting us to take the offense in that manner.”

Tenkiller, CoS

The photon torpedoes went out in a wave, the first and second making contact but the others passing harmlessly. The Orion’s shields pulsed with each impact and explosion but their wasn’t any apparent damage. The shields dipped to 60% as well but they were recharging and the Chimera’s weren’t.

GM

OOC: The XO is actually still on the planet. Its up to us to handle this:) The CO was on the bridge but Steve hasn’t been able to post so we just need to move on. I have the XO’s go ahead for doing this.

Sheriye looked up in surprise,”A boarrding team?” She realized belatedly that she was the ranking officer on the bridge, a chill went up her spine. She wasn’t trained for combat, how was she suppose to decide something like this. She could get them all killed! “Umm, if you think that iss a viable option. Wherre is the 1sst Lieutenant? Wouldn’t sshe be good for doing that?” Sheriye new that the MACO’s were the ones to send in on such assignments.

Sheriye CSO

OOC: Cross post

=/\= USS. Chimera this is Captain John Jones in a Hawk Heavy Fighter, along with the USS. Liberty, we are inbound to your location from the surface, I need all ships to focus fire on the Orion power core, if can punch a hole in their shields we can shut down their weapons. There is a small crew on the Liberty and some Marines, They won’t be able to dock so prepare to beam them aboard, =/\=

Captain John Jones
CO
OOC: The Fighter can be here as a prize from one of the Pirate/Orion ship’s raids… but the Liberty isn’t about.

Tenkiller jabbed the comms on his console. =/\= Captain. Lt. Tenkiller, Security Chief of USS Chimera. We are low on power and will do our best to assist, but don’t expect much, we are just this side of crippled.=/\= He then looked at the bridge crew and said “You heard the man. Divert all power we can to transporters and see if you can get a lock. We cant use phasers without taxing out power draw, so we will see if we can punch a hole with torpedoes.” and he plotted a firing solution for a full spread of torpedoes, aiming directly for the power core of the Orion ship. He staggered the torpedoes for half-second delays between impacts on the ship. Out loud, but to himself, he said “Let’s see how they like a few dozen sledge hammers pounding on them.” and fired the salvo, correcting the torpedoes course as the Orion ship moved.

Tenkiller, CoS

The Orion ship looped about… changing its primary target to the Fighter. Taking out the smaller target would remove another factor from the field and make the tactical situation simpler.

“Aye ssirr!” Sheriye said as she blinked herself out of her daze at this turn of events and attempted to get a transporter lock on the men and marines from the Liberty. Where had they come from and what were they doing here? They hadn’t been told there was any other Federation ship here.

Sheriye Sci

OOC: Sorry about my disappearance guys what with thanksgiving and classes I wasn’t able to get on.

IC: With Science working on getting a transporter lock Heather was trying to divert available power to the transporters to boost the transporters while making sure that the shields stayed up until they were needed to lower to actually use the transporters. With the ship constantly being hit that wasn’t exactly an easy feat really.

Heather Argeneau, CE

The Orions took a quick pass with disrupter fire before locking their weapons on the Kitty Hawk. The Chimera rocked and again the lights dimmed… shields were reduced to 35%.

The torpedoes were only effective in waves against the Orion ship as it was fast and maneuverable. She didn’t stay in a location long enough for all the missiles to hit. She rocked with the second and third torpedo pushing her slowly off course… but she continued to bear down on the Kitty Hawk..

GM

Elsamine took in the situation quickly “A quantum torpedo aimed right here should be able to breach their hull and give us the opportunity to hit the warp core.” She said as she put up the schematics on the forward viewer and highlighted the area that she was talking about that was midship.

Marine CO

Tenkiller nodded in acknowledgment and programmed two quantum torpedoes for the area designated by Elsamine. Without looking up, he said “Argeneau, try and give me something, anything, for the phasers without compromising the transporters. We need to hit those shields with a phaser burst and hopefully, the quantums will penetrate this time.”

Tenkiller, CoS

“Aye, I’m diverting power from non-essential systems to Shields, Transporters, and Phasers if I move anything more it’ll be taking it from life support,” Heather said as she kept an eye on the systems that she was taking power from and the systems she was putting power into. Granted they could survive even with power diverted from life support, but not for long.

Heather Argeneau, CE

That was a math equation that would work but the numbers would be small. The transporters were active, but the phasers and shields were at 20% effectiveness… barely enough to protect against a single volley from the Orions and too little to break through the raider’s shields… Even the sounds from the firing sounded weak as the phaser arrays pinged when deployed as opposed to their normal throaty whine.

Sensors determined the fire was ineffective. However they could beam the Captain from the fighter if they so choose.

GM

“Lock onto the pilot of that fighter and prepare for transport. Confirm once lock is made!” With no Command staff on the bridge, Tenkiller leapt into the center seat and pulled up the readouts of the Chimera, and it wasn’t pretty. A single thought occurred to him. He took a deep breath and hit the comms. =/\= Chimera to Hawk Heavy Fighter. Captain, we are almost dead in the water and are rapidly running out of juice, but I have a plan. Set your course for a run at full power at the Orion. Bridge or warp core, your choice. We are gonna pull you out right before impact.... I hope. Otherwise, Captain, one more volley from them and you are on your own anyway. We don’t have much left. =/\=

Tenkiller, CoS

Captain Jones heard the message all to clear, =/\= Understood Chimera standby one =/\= He hit his console and pulled up comms to the USS. Liberty =/\= USS. Liberty this is Captain Jones, return to the surface, scan for any Star Fleet signals and attempt to rendezvous with them on the surface. =/\=

Jones turned the ship tightly and pushed his throttle to full power, =/\= Computer set Phasers and torpedoes to fire on full begining 40 meters from target location, =/\= Jones locked his target onto the Engineering and set the autopilot to engage when the ship no longer had him on board, Jones also deactivated the anti collision safeties. The engines engaged and Jones could feel the power and speed of the little fighter picking up, =/\= Jones to Chimera, we are inbound =/\=

Captain John P. Jones

Heather used her enhanced vision and her skill as an engineer, her fingers moved over the console with grace despite the fact that they were under a lot of stress. “I’ve got a lock on the captain and one shot to beam him aboard.” Heather told Tenkiller.

Heather Argeneau, CE

Gunny Haygen on the USS. Liberty hit the Comms =/\= Aye Aye Sir, go get em =/\=

Gunnery Sergeant Ronald Haygen
Marine

=/\= Copy that, Captain. See you soon. =/\= He then addressed the bridge. “At a 1,000 meters from impact, engage transporter.” and he tapped some commands into the computer. “Torpedo volley will commence when the fighter is 10,000 meters from impact. That should give him some cover.” and then Tenkiller turned and looked at the assembled bridge officers. “Make sure that all non-essential personnel are in emergency shelters and prepare for impact. If this doesn’t stop them, we are gonna get hit. Hard.” and he looked at Argeneau. “All available power to shields immediately after the torpedoes fire, Chief. But make sure we can yank the Captain out.”

Tenkiller, CoS

Sheriye took a silent breath of relief as the CE appeared on the bridge and took over the transporter duty. There was enough of the higher ranked officers on the bridge she could return to her normal duties. Her hands flew over her console as she kept scanners on the Orions. She also made sure the viewscreen showed the targets they were aiming at.

Sheriye CSO

The Orion raider suddenly turned from predator to prey. She was running the fighter down, but she seem to figure out fairly quickly that the Kitty Hawk was becoming a kamikaze.

The Orion turned sharply but not sharp enough to keep the Kitty Hawk from ramming the relatively small fighter. The torpedoes that lead the collision weakened the Raiders shields before the small ship slammed into the shields then her hull. The was a gout of flame and exploding hull before the vacuum of space.

The Orion ship didn’t change course and picked up speed until she went to warp. It wouldn’t take long for her to get out of what was the Chimera’s current sensor range unless she did something quickly.
