She made her way into her engineering bay looking around to see that debris was hanging from the upper engineering section. Part of the ramp between sections was down leaving only the elevator access to upper engineering or the lift in the corridor which thankfully was still running. Heather looked around at her officers and knew they were hurting but not beat down by what had happened. Or so their Chief hoped. Hell for all she knew one or more of them were the reason the dilithium crystals were fractured, to begin with.

“Alright, we’ll worry about the mess later, I want to bypass all major damage to the systems that we need,” Heather started calling her department to order basically. Walking over to the centralized console to engineering she moved her arm across the surface to knock the debris aside and brought the flickering monitor to life. Bringing up an image of the ship despite the flickering, “I want damage teams here and here to make sure that the emergency forcefields hold and keep that hole in our side closed. I want power from all non-essential systems and from these decks that have been cleared out pulled to fule the ship. Any systems that cannot be bypassed needs to be repaired. Let’s get to work people I want this ship able to move on its own without limping back into port.” Heather told her officers and started to get to work herself they needed to get power flowing and they needed it now.

Heather Argeneau, CE

One of the few engineers with Heather worked to help her by finding a dilithium crystal that wasn’t chipped it was one of the last ones they had it wouldn’t cover more than a 1/10th of the power reserves, but it would give them enough power to get back to their home port so they can get repairs underway. Heather worked together with the only available officer she had to basically duck tape the engines back together and get everyone home.

Heather Argeneau, Ce

Ensign on the Spot worked with the Chief, “Aren’t you concerned about the alert that we have been boarded? The majority of the crew has been sent to the secure areas of the ship.” He looked about with wide eyes, “Engineering and the Bridge would be the first two targets.”

OnTheSpot
GM

“Nope, I can handle just about anything that comes through that door, there are phaser rifles in the cabinet behind my desk that we can use to defend ourselves and I have training in hand to hand combat from fists to swords so I think we could handle ourselves if the need arises.” Heather told Ensign on the Spot, what she didn’t tell him would only cause him to fear her over the invaders. “What I am worried about is not getting power to weapons to help defend this ship so that is our priority.” She told the Ensign.

Heather Argeneau, CE

The ensign turned up the corner of his mouth. He didn’t appear convinced seeing as he outweighed the Chief Engineer by a good fifty pounds and he had never seen her do any martial activity during his tenure on the ship nor was she insecurity. Despite this, he continued. “If you aren’t worried, I guess I’m not worried either.”

As the chief remembered the alignment of the crystals was not the most time-consuming element of the repair, the recreation of the dilithium chamber was, since it was damaged when the initial crystals shattered and that was being redone in the science lab. All in all, Heather thought the work could be completed within two hours.

GM and Ensign Onthespott

Heather smirked, “I’m stronger than I look.” She said softly, “My uncle taught me how to fight since I was old enough to learn.” She said frowning as she remembered the dilithium chambers were being repaired. “Well we have a problem The dilithium chamber wont be ready for use until it’s completed in Science, and that’s probably about two hours or so.” Heather frowned.

Heather Argeneau, CE

“Even if it were ready, we are being powered by a hamster on a wheel. If we can hold warp 2 or 3 for a few days we’ll be lucky. If the Orions come back we’ll be out powered two to one, Muscles.” The Ensign thought he was funny. Little did he know that Heather was more than truthful when she stated that she could handle herself, as much as anyone could handle an armed opponent when they were unarmed.

GM

Heather frowned, “Then we wait and we make sure we can defend this area.” She said though she was making sure she was extra alert to her Ensign since she didn’t know if he was the saboteur or not. She focused her gaze on his temple and tried to look into his mind to see what he was thinking of if she could find any thoughts of his trying to destroy the ship or not.

Heather Argeneau, CE

Her exploration into the comparatively juvenile mind of the mid-twenties ensign, indicated his processing the basics of warp chamber repair, slight amusement over her confident statements of her ability to ‘handle herself’, a strange interest in actually seeing her handle herself and general disappointment that someone as attractive as her was inside his chain of command.

GM

Heather actually smiled slowly at his thoughts before turning away to hide her reaction. The young Atlantean felt sure that the young officer was not her saboteur, “So we should prepare just in case there is trouble.” She said though she doubted that there would be anyone coming here really. “Though we also have to figure out how to get the rebuilt dilithium chamber back here without running into whoever has board the ship.”

Heather Argeneau, Ce

“I thought you could handle yourself?” He commented, with a little of familiarity, no rank, no sir/ma’am. He looked about. “The part that’s getting repaired is only about 2 meters and a meter around… if you are worried about tooling around out there we probably have enough power to beam it in, site to site.” He tilted his head. “Might piss of the Captain to use that much of our reserve without prior approval… but you are the big dog in here.”

Ensign Onthespot
GM

Heather actually laughed at that, “hahaha, your right I can handle myself.” She said looking to Ensign Onthespot, she did have to wonder why he would suggest a site to site beam granted yes they would be using up some of the power reserves, but they could get full power back. “Find out if it’s ready, if it is, do a site to site I’ll take the heat if it comes down to it. I don’t like the thought of limping back into port. I’ll install it myself though.” Heather told Ensign. Onthespot.

Heather Argeneau, CE

The ensign held up his hands, pulling away from the warp chamber. “Fine by me. Less I can get in trouble for.” He walked about for a moment moving to a comm station.

“They say they are still thirty minutes out with the re-fabrication.” Onthespot shrugged. “Want to get a coffee and a bagel?”

Ensign Onthespot
GM

“Actually, I’ll take a rain check on that, but that’s just enough time to get a security team down here and go pick it up personally and bring it back what with the intruder alert. I may be able to handle myself, but I’m also not stupid enough to go out alone and get myself jumped.” Heather smirked at Ensign Onthespot. =^= Engineering to Tenkiller, I could use a few officers to make my way to science with to pick up the dilithium chamber, what with our intruder alert going on. =^= Heater said into her combadge.

Argeneau, CE

There was a slight pause, then the familiar voice of the CoS came across the comms. =/\= Tenkiller to Engineering. Team on it’s way. ETA one minute to your location, Chief. =/\=

Tenkiller, CoS
