The shuttle was small and quiet, but the space and the silence didn’t bother Simon as he sat in quiet meditation. It was time for him to start a new chapter on his journey, one that he was sure would introduce him to new friends and bring new adventures.

Glancing at the panel in front of him, Simon announced aloud, “We will arrive at the Chimera’s coordinates in exactly thirty-two minutes.”

Seated next to him, the young woman shook her head, groaning. “Get out of my head, Simon.” She said playfully, throwing him a sideways smile. Lieutenant Helen Rodgers was one of the friends he’d made during his stay on the USS Hipodrome. One of the best pilots he’d ever met, she had quickly become someone he could confide in. She knew all too well of his tendency of using his telepathy freely. He had even taught her a few mental blocking techniques to alert him when she didn’t wish for him to be reading any stray thoughts. She had always been more of an open book though, and in the years he’d known her, he could only recall her using those mental blocks twice. Both times the morning after she had spent in the bed of their First Officer. Simon knew better to pry, although his sly grin usually gave away that he already knew what had transpired.

“Are you that eager to be rid of me?” Simon asked, looking towards her, smiling. Even though his eyes were the typical solid black of a Betazoid, they were quite expressive.

Helen shook her head. “You already know the answer to that question. I’m going to miss you like crazy. Why did you have to go and take a transfer?”

Simon sighed. “It was time.” He said. Simon had always been a believer in fate and destiny. He could tell when life was taking him in a new direction, down a new path. This was just one of those times.

Helen huffed. “You know Sam was an idiot for leaving you and Jacob that way.”

“Life happens,” Simon replied. “We all knew when we signed up to be Starfleet officers that our lives would become unpredictable. Jacob is going to be fine. He’ll have you to keep him company.”

Helen reached over and put her hand on top of Simon’s. “I’ll look out for him.”

Simon smiled, then retreated back into his thoughts.

What seemed like moments later, Helen’s voice broke his meditation. “We’re in comms range.”

Simon felt a twinge of sadness as the reality of leaving one of his closest friends was coming closer. “Send them a hail.” It was time to start a brand new chapter.

-Simon Arbogist, CNS

In response to their hail, a male voice came through the comms. =/\= Shuttle Ticonderoga, this is Chimera. You are clear for docking in bay two. Security will meet you on arrival. Welcome to the Chimera, Lieutenant Commander. =/\= and the comms went silent.

Tenkiller, CoS

OOC: hey James thanks for the welcome. I actually posted my arrival on the main sim Bridge thread if you want to respond to me there that way we keep everything together
-James
