“Sure,” Neribi shrugged, “You’ll want to stand here, sort of out of the way, the pole isn’t live, but I make fast enough movements that it would bruise you if it mistakenly made contact with you.”

Once the good doctor was settled, Neribi began simply standing with the pole vertical in front of her in both hands stacked on top of each other, her head bowed. Taking a few breaths, using her lower hand, she began to spin the pole, stopping it in a strike posture, spinning it again, she twirled her body physically, making a series of controlled stops as she moved about the compound in varied strikes and blocks.

Mora stood to the side, her articulate gaze studying the movement that she made. She came up with a few theories, of why the dance was particularly helpful towards the body of a humanoid, such as herself. It seemed the quick movements could strength breathing patterns, and the lungs. Her detailed actions would add to the strength in her wrists and ankles, and depending on how much she moved, it would add to her arms and legs, as well. The twirling could be a way to help with the abdomen, all in all, it was apparently a rather helpful workout.

“Do you do much exercise like this?” Neribi asked, by way of making conversation while she worked, “Is there something in particular you’re looking for, as a security officer, keeping a strong and agile body is one of my top priorities, I can recommend some exercises if that’s what you’re after?”

~Asani Neribi~

Mora quietly chuckled, “No, that is quite alright. My physiology makes it quite difficult to ever bother with exercise beyond yoga and a few types of aerobics.” She smiled, a gentleness to her appearance. It was clear that she was a doctor, for her demeanour wasn’t far too calm and collected to be, really, anything else. “That does make sense, though. However, I should hope you know the limit of your own body?”

“Yes, when first beginning these exercises, I was taught to start slow and avoid pushing my body to the point where I’d sustain injury,” Neribi replied, continuing to work, watching her movements herself, “It’s a process, building upon earlier work to gather strength and agility. I think it’s highly important to understand the limits of your body, particularly given my profession in the security field, I need to be ready to control a crowd or run to a serious situation. Pattern dances help you test your limits gradually, building upon the previous exercises. It was also why I jogged up here, rather than just appear up here in the program, a slow easy jog loosens up the muscles and signals the body that it’s time to work.”

~Asani Neribi~

“Agreed.” She nodded, understanding where the woman was coming from, regarding everything that she had said. She was curious as to why this was the specific exercise that she chose to do, but the anxious doctor wasn’t certain if it was her place to ask. Quietly, she chose to ask another question, on the more broad spectrum. “Are there any other exercises that you find are just as, or if not, more effective than this one?” She asked, tilting her head minutely to one side, tapping her fingers, subconsciously, against the base of her thigh.

“I also do yoga or pilates on other days,” Neribi explained, “It’s important to vary the workout, I wouldn’t say that one exercise is more effective than the other, more like they all accomplish different things that contribute to a whole healthy routine for me.”

The Bolian appeared a bit more comfortable once Yoga was referenced, for that was an exercise that she understood and participated within. Perhaps it was odd, that this thing put her anxiety slightly at ease. However, it was familiarity in an unknown situation, and that was nice. “You do yoga?” Mora asked, the nature in her voice almost equivalent to the generally eager-to-please persona of most Bolian people. “Do you have a certain type you prefer? Such as Hatha or Vinyasa?”

OOC: I am a yoga-fanatic, so if I mention anything about it that doesn’t make sense, feel free to ask me to speak more ‘English.’ Lol!

OOC: I’m no fanatic, but I’m a beginner since I found it helps with back aches. :)

IC:

“I usually use Hatha, I find it most beneficial, I particularly find it helps me with balance, which in turn makes everything else I do easier,” Neribi explained.

~Asani Neribi~

OOC: Same! It’s really good about making it easier to walk/any activity.

IC: “Hatha is great for balance, and also healing. I can see why people enjoy it so much, especially in terms of pace and the simplicity of majority of the poses,” She nodded, smiling partially. “With how athletic yoh are, Vinyasa might be good for you, too. It helps to condition the body and teaches it to be able to bend in ways it couldn’t before. It is sort of like dancing, only you hold the positions for longer.” A soft chuckle followed her brief explanation.

“I may look into it,” Neribi replied, “I get quite a bit of that challenge with my Maerynian pattern dances, particularly when using live weapons, since you have to be mindful to avoid cutting yourself on them.”

~Asani Neribi~

“Well.. that is.. dangerous.” Quezimora rose her eyebrows, finding that such a choice in exercise could prove to be incredibly dangerous. “How exactly do you avoid this?”

Xanrae
Doc

“Years of practice,” Neribi replied, “When I was growing up, I always used the blunted weapons, at best they’d bruise you if you really allowed them to hit you, but once I reached adulthood I began to slowly introduce live weapons into the mix for an extra challenge. You start slow of course, being very careful. Minor nicks happen of course, but the idea is to avoid anything serious. It helps your eye-hand-coordination.”
