The Away team determined that - at the very least - these small snake/lizards were relevant to the natives. Returning them to the capital, the Nelay King, Valron son of Aborus, is particularly grateful. He rains praise on the star-fleet officers in returning their jewels. He explains that the biology of the Nelays is such that the female lay eggs once every 40 years that when fertilized by the male, they harden with a gemlike shell where they gestate for 7 years, until another generation is born en-mass and the Orions had stolen nearly 20% of this generation’s children. He makes a reference to the human phrase “that all that glitter is not gold.”
The Nelay King offers the Federation crew a reward, the same that the Orions were demanding, since it doesn’t have much relative value to them. Two hundred pounds of uncut dilithum crystals. These crystals are not of the quality or volume that are on the more desirable mining worlds, they are certainly numerous and valuable enough for a smaller mining company and to the under powered Chimera these crystals are mana from heaven.
