Devan walked into ten forward. “So you see captain being joined has its benefits and its curses. That flamboyant display in the holo get was Riloc. She was quite the show woman when she was joined so I have her memories and sometimes I get a little taken away by her. I haven’t been joined all that long it’s still taking some getting used to.” He gestured to a seat, ” What would you like?”

“Whisky on the rocks,” she said as she pulled out the seat and sat down. “I can’t say that I’ve met a recently joined Trill before. “I hope you don’t mind me asking, but what is it like being joined?”

Davon slide into the chair handing over the drink to Hawkins taking a sip of his own syth ale in the process. ” It certainly takes some getting used to. I had all the training required of me at the Symbiosis Commission back home. But you can never really prepare mentally.” He sipped again, ” I have two sets of memories as I am the second host for Riloc and her memories feel as real as my own do right now. Sometimes, like in the holodeck before they can become overwhelming and I give her a little free reign to express herself.” He smiled at Heather. ” Its really quite liberating.”
“That must get really confusing the more hosts a symbiont has over its lifetime then.” She could only imageine how hard it would be to keep the two personalities separate. But maybe that was the whole point, where they weren’t supposed to be separate. Rather they learned to work together, become something bigger then the original parts.
There weren’t many people in Ten Forward at the moment with most people still being on Mellgelan station so when the waiter came up to ask if the pair wanted another drink he asked for two of the same. ” What about you Captain I’ve never served with the Marines or Fly boys before. What’s that like?”

“About the same as serving on any other ship,” she said with a chuckle. Kate took a sip of her drink and leaned back slightly. “I haven’t served on a lot of ships with a fighter wing, I’ve typically been a part of smaller forward deployed units. If we had air support, a secondary carrier ship came with us. So this is a bit of a change to me. There are a lot more Marines around here.
“But really it isn’t that different. We just tend to have more downtime in between missions, because we aren’t in the usual ship board maintenance roles. So you’ll probably see more Marines running through the hallways, or the holodecks booked for trainings. But it shouldn’t change things that much. Though with the size ship the Chimera is now, we will probably get some more interesting missions. We aren’t exactly outfitted for the stealth missions.”
