Humans weren’t meant to be hurtling at 50 times the speed of light, in space, in a glorified metal tube, but they did. The number of things that could go wrong was limitless. Every year a dozen ships disappeared without explanation another dozen due to inexplicable ‘mechanical’ errors. It happened to ships big and small, Star-Fleet and independents without rhyme or reason… “I should have stayed on Earth” He couldn’t help but say aloud, while the other thoughts ran through the mind of the young ensign assigned to the science station of the Chimera.

His thoughts were prophetic as the Chimera’s shields snapped on, which was not exactly a correct term, since at warp a ship’s deflectors always were on to deflect micro–particles that a ship running even through the vacuum of space were bound to encounter. The shield surged to maximum power… a moment before the Chimera was rocked suddenly to port swerving radically as she tumbled out of warp.

OOC: The time is 22:42 hours. Please open a thread at the location you would be at 10:42 pm. You can be anywhere and with or without company. There are six missions within this Sim so don’t be worried about being somewhere unimportant.

Right on cue, Talisse’s voice came over the comm filled with concern. =/\=Bridge, this is the Captain. What’s happening?=/\=

—CO Talisse

=^=We’ve been yanked out of warp!!=^= Then ensign literally had to yell to be heard over the warning and alarm claxons on the bridge. =^=And put at a full stop in under 1 second. If it weren’t for the inertial dampeners we’d be a stain on the front wall, I have injuries all over the bridge.... =^=

“Turn the alarms off… I can’t think,..”

Ensign Overwhelmed.
GM

=/\=Notify the XO and all department heads. I want them on the bridge or reporting to their departments immediately. I’m on my way, give me 5 minutes.=/\=

—CO Talisse

=^=I have the XO on the other line,=^= The ensign didn’t know who he should respond to first.

=^= Jen to Bridge. Secure general quarters. Initiate red alert. Shields up. Begin damage control reporting. ^=^ He paused then continued. =^= Focus Ensign. Shields up. Damage control reports. I will be there momentarily. =^=
Jen, XO

There was a pause as the ensign tried to coordinate about five thing more than he could handle. =^=I have the Captain on the other channel.=^=

“Shields,” The ensign called out.

“Negative sir, I have no response from the panel…” The ensign at the ops station kicked the floor board. It popped open incidentally… she just exhaled and looked into the darkened area. “No signal in any relay.”

“What, How is that even possible?”

The Ensign responded to the XO =^=I sent the command out, but I have negative response from any deck below 4. The Computer clicked on the shields before the incident… I think they are still on… Negative on the Red Alert below deck 4.=^=

It was a much longer trip than it should have been, none of the doors worked and she had to manually open each hatch would took minutes. When she finally climbed through the hatch in the floor at the back of the bridge she was both tired and dirty.

The Ensign turned, “Captain, we don’t have communication out of this section.” He glanced back to his board. “I know we have massive damage, but the computer isn’t giving out any reports further than compartment 8 and deck 4. (That was only a few dozen meters aft of the bridge).

GM

OOC: We need to meld the two bridge threads as I responded to the other one before coming across this one.
