In her Flag Office, M’Ressa had been working on her unending mountain of files when the ship was suddenly and violently thrown out of warp. Given that she had been sitting behind her desk, she was thrown violently into and over it to tumble across the deck ending up against the bulkhead near the doors.

She lost consciousness for a few moments as pain burned so intensely in her chest. She blinked as she took a few moments to try and breathe, which almost caused her to black out again as the excruciating pain increased in her chest. Definitely some broken ribs, thought the older Caitian, as she took to breathing shallowly. When her vision cleared she experimentally moved her limbs to find nothing else broken, thank the Goddess.

Slowly, she used the bulkhead behind herself to ease herself to a sitting position while her vision wavered in and out. Then paused as she waited for her vision to clear before she began to slide her way up the bulkhead that was behind her back. If it hadn’t been there, getting up would have been much more difficult.

Regaining her feet she padded painfully toward the door of her office to go out onto the CIC deck to see what the hell had happened.

Rear Admiral M’Ressa

Theoretically, M’Ressa was closer than any of the command officers to the CIC, in her office, but she seemed to have lost consciousness for a few minutes. What was problematic was the doors to the office were jammed shut. She could use an emergency hatch to drop down a deck and then hopefully back up… hopefully. Unless some other idea came to mind.

GM, nothing is easy

The doors did not open as expected and M’Ressa growled in frustration. She pondered for a few moments before remembering that there was usually a manual override beside doors for just such a situation. She moved over to the right side of the door for the panel that could be removed to access the manual override.

M’Ressa

Indeed there was, M’Ressa could pull out the panel and release the door mechanism theoretically allowing the door to slide open. Which it did, the door however was a little jammed and she would need to put her ‘shoulder’ into it to get it open. After that it would be a few quick steps to the CIC…

Deftly M’Ressa had no trouble getting the panel off and releasing the override. The door opened about 6 inches,”Oh grreat.” M’Ressa growled under her breath. Would she be able to push the panel open with her broken ribs? Moving over to it she turned to the side that wasn’t injured and tried to pull the door open enough to wedge her good shoulder into it. If this didn’t work, she supposed she could call for help, someone had to be in CIC but that would make her feel like a complete fool and hurt her Rear Admiral image in a big way.

M’Ressa

M’Ressa was able to get her arm and should through the door than in addition to her body weight was enough to push the door with a high pitch shriek as the metal of the door squealed against the door jam. There was stab of pain in her chest as she felt at least one of the broken rib ground against the soft tissue in her chest. That was certainly way more pain than it was the relative worth of opening a door.

GM

The grinding pain shot through M’Ressa causing her vision to gray out for a moment as she leaned against the door jam and took very shallow breaths until she could see again and the pain had leveled out to a more bearable level.

Her head case up as she looked out over the CIC to see who was on deck.
