<snip>An explosion that would have been loud in the great outdoors reverberated uncomfortably, even in the cavernous marine barracks. A moment later a pair of marines looked into the open hole. The hummed appreciatively and then two ropes were dropped down. Marines two at a time disappeared into the hole landing on the deck below. =^=First squad, second platoon Dog company is on the deck and moving out.=^=
A minute later the team at the ceiling repeated the process upside down. It took longer for them to get through the hole but the end point was still the same. A squad was on the deck above and would be spreading out from there.

“Move, move, move.” Kate said as she motioned the 1st platoon up the ropes. They started to spread out just as planned.
“Colonel. Good hunting,” Kate said right before her turn to go up the ropes. It didn’t take long to haul herself up, and by the time she did the demo team was already getting the next round of ordinate in place. One deck down, 6 more to go.
“Let’s keep it up boys, and try to avoid the engineers for a bit after this. They are definitely going to hate us.”
MCapt Hawkins - A Co Commander
A couple of them chuckled for a moment. It was pretty easy to breech a wall if you weren’t required to fix it after it was done. The team moved about twenty meters before they hit a closed bulkhead and the obvious shimmer of a force field. The lead marine turned around to the Captain Hawkins as he tapped the forcefield over the door with his gloved hand. There was an electric hum as he did so… “Force Field and a bulkhead.” He offered unhelpfully.

Kate cursed. Of course this couldn’t just be done the easy way. She pulled out her tricorder and started seeing just how far the force field extended. Moving the tricorder, she pointed it up at the ceiling. They still had 6 more decks to go, it wouldn’t hurt to just keep going up.

A marine looked at her incredulously… “Seriously, Ma’am” He started to chuckle.... “If you say so.” He pulled a chair out of a nearby room. Standing on it he put a circular charge on the ceiling. Shaking his head as he worked, he thought about how much the repair crews were going to be pissed at them. After a few minutes he moved a could of steps back… “Fire in the hole!” He cried as he turned a corner out of the blast radius.

Kate grinned as he started placing the charges. “Unless we run into any vital systems, let’s just get this done and over with. The XO did say to make this fast, and let the repair crews deal with it later.”
Turning the corner with the rest of the team, she covered her ears.
“Is it clear?” she asked looking back at her demo team.

The Marine popped his head through the hole. A moment later he leapt through the opening. The rest of the team followed. If the marine detachment would just blow holes in every deck at every intersection that was blocked they would reach their objective with a full dozen internal breeches.
