IC: If Ryley was shocked by the sudden arrival he hid it well. He rolled his tongue around the inside of his mouth savouring the peaty after taste of his drink. He gave the woman before him a careful appraisal from head to foot then back up again. He didn’t bother to hide the ogling as he studied her, studying him.

He pushed his now empty glass forward and reaching his uninsured arm up took the bottle back from her and poured a measure back into the glass before nudging it towards her. Holding the bottle aloft he gave her a gesture and took his next drink from the bottle itself.

Closing the open unbruised eye against the mouthful he lowered the bottle again. “ So…” he started gruffly. “In an age of ironic retro culture worship, social niceties and directives that tell us what is ok and not ok to say or do it’s irresponsible to walk around without knowing at least a few bar-appropriate pick up lines.” He refilled the glass and took another drink for himself before continuing. “Yet you choose to steal my drink instead. Interesting. I like interesting.”

Katelyn’s fingers tightened on the bottle briefly as Ryley moved to take it from her, but she ultimately released it, curious to see what he would do next. She watched as he poured it in the glass and as he tilted the bottle back into his own mouth. Shaking her head lightly at that, she reached for the indicated glass and took a long sip. Her eyes closed briefly as she savored the beverage before swallowing and opened as she heard his voice. “Well, it got your attention,” she responded, offering a nonchalant shrug of her slender shoulders. Another sip punctuated her point before she moved to set the glass down, swirling it slightly and watching the remaining liquid slosh onto the sides. “I have a proposition for you.” Her black eyes drifted back up from the glass and met his as she waited to see his response before continuing on.

Ryley raised one eyebrow and again took a drink from the bottle. “If its on the pool table you can forget it sweetheart, the klingons kinda had an accident with it.” He thumbed over his shoulder at the knife embedded in the slashed blue green material that once covered the table.

Again the bearded older man considered her. “Anyway, while i am into the whole biker chick/ Sarah Connor thing youve got going on here…” he said referencing an ancient earth scifi “…I’m too old for you. And dont assume this is all jyst a deflection. It partly is and partly is an effort to extend the time i can sit here. And I’m not dismissing you just that I can’t think of anything that I’d be interested in you could offer.”

Katelyn’s eyes left his to follow the indicated place over his shoulder. Her features melded into a smirk of amusement before she returned her attention to Ryley. The amusement remained on her features as she listened to his speech and she was visibly trying to contain a snicker. “Well, you seemed to like what you see,” she commented with a toss of her hair. She reached for the glass in front of her once again, tossing back the last of the alcohol before once again eyeing him. Without saying a word, she moved the lapel of her jacket slightly to reveal the silver gleam of a Starfleet communicator badge. One of her eyebrows arched upward as she waited for him to take notice.

Ryley we attention immediately flashed to the communicator badge and a small smirk appeared on his face. He refilled her glass and took another swig for himself. “See, I was right, this doesn’t interest me.” He said and turned away to face the bar again. Without looking at her he added “You know there’s a lot of people who would pay a pretty penny for that purely for the components.”
