The deck was crewed consistent with the correct number of staff on at this period of time. The number of active crew was lessened by injuries and again by people tending to those injuries. However when Eleanor called a few crew turned to respond to her. “What’cha need Captain?”
GM

“Anyone available…” Carnegie said, now starting to put the tie downs on her ship. “I need you to start placing magnetic tie downs on each of the birds. It will buy us some time until we can find a way of getting more power to the stasis fields. Otherwise, our birds will be toast. And I’m sure neither the CAG or the fleeters are going to be happy about it.” She paused for a moment as she finished the job on the Ranger-class vessel. “Also, how many injured do we have on deck?”

CPT Carnegie, Recon Squad CO

“Is everyone alright?” Kate called out as her team forced the door to the flight deck open. As it finally opened up far enough, the two scouts were through the door and did a quick sweep of the immediate area.

“This is Captain Hawkins. Is anyone hurt?”

The closest crew member laughed. “Everyone is hurt sir… everyone.” The injuries varied in type and magnitude. What both helped and hurt was the general space in the launch bay. The crew members often didn’t hit anything since there was tons of space, conversely there a lot of space gain velocity and hit something.

Turning around, she looked back at team as they made their way onto the flight deck. “Comm’s, radio HQ and advise them that we’ve reached the flight deck.”

MCapt Hawkins - A Co Commander

Carnegie turned around at the sound of the door being forced open, and then at the newcomers’ voice. “Captain Hawkins.” There was a slight note of relief in her tone, but it disappeared almost immediately. Approaching the woman, she spoke firmly. “I’m Captain Carnegie. Recon. There are injured members on deck but I still haven’t managed to get a number. In fact, we are very much isolated in here. Power is not going to hold the stasis fields for long and we are trying to place magnetic tie downs on as many birds as we can, or they will take flight if we don’t.” She paused for a moment to catch her breath. “We have been very much isolated in here. I feel that there’s been some miscommunication between us, the CAG, and Flight Ops. What is happening?”

“We are still trying to figure it out Captain. Power is wonky all over the ship, with a lot of sections cut off from one another. We only managed to cut through the interference on comms, because we broke out our field gear. I’ve got Charlie and Delta squads with me here though. I sent Alpha squad to the ready rooms, and Beta squad is heading for the maintenance bays.”

Kate turned back towards her men, “Charlie Squad, start checking out the injured. See who is the worst, and get them prepped to be moved if needed. Delta, lend these flyboys a hand strapping their birds to the deck. The last thing we need is one flying right at us.”

=^= CIC to Captain Hawkins. SitRep requested. What is your status on spreading out on captured decks? Have you penetrated engineering or gained engineers to assist you? CIC over. =^=
Corporal Gettinger

Ellie nodded in acknowledgement to Hawkins’s words before the commcall came through from the CIC. She stood silently, listening to what was going on.

Kate started motioning for the handset when she turned at the sound of claws hitting the deck.

Suddenly the sound of claws on decking was heard as two female Caitian’s came running down the corridor on all fours, claws out to give them traction. As they neared the two rose again to show that they were the Rear Admiral and Chief Science Officer.
“Status?” M’Ressa called out as she approached the group.

Rear Admiral M’Ressa
Sheriye CSO

Kate snapped to attention and saluted the Admiral. “Ma’am. Charlie and Delta squad just arrived here on the flight deck with me. Alpha squad is headed to the ready rooms, and Beta squad is headed for the maintenance bays. We were just getting a status update when you arrived.”

MCapt Hawkins - A Co Commander

Carnegie had seen both Catians in passing before but she had never truly interacted with them. Especially with the Admiral. Just like Hawkins, she stood at attention the moment the Admiral stopped in front of them, but said nothing.

“Excellent. Inform the Commander that his Chief Science Officer and I have made it down here too. Are any of the shuttles flyable? The Commander has ordered the Lieutenant and I to get out there and get a look at the situation and get some readings.”

Rear Admiral M’Ressa
Sheriye CSO

A look at the situation and get some readings? The words immediately imprinted in Eleanor’s mind as an idea lit up in her brain.

Only a few craft were damaged to a degree that they were inoperable, so the Admiral would have no problem finding a shuttle that was able to be launched. As they crews continued to prep… however, they would note that the both the force fields and the metal hatches were down across the launch tubes.

GM

“Yes Ma’am. Though I’m not sure if we have launching capabilities at this moment. Captain,” Kate said as she turned towards Carnegie. Nodding to the Admiral she stepped to the side and accepted the radio handset from the Corporal.

=^= CIC, Captain Hawkins here. We just hit the flight deck, I have squads securing the maintenance level and flight ready rooms. Additionally the Admiral just arrived. She is inquiring about launching a shuttle with the flight crew. =^=

MCapt Hawkins - A Co Commander

=/\= Do you know what the Admiral’s plan is with the shuttle? =/\=

Jacobs, CO (crosspost)

=^= Unclear Captain. Only that she is wanting a shuttle. Standby. =^=

Turning to the Admiral, Eleanor cleared her throat following Hawkins response. “Ma’am… if I may…” She said with a quick salute to the Catian. “… I am a bit at a loss as to what is going on outside this deck but… I lead Wing 399’s Reconnaissance Squad. My ship has a state-of-the-art sensor suite, better than anything you will find in any fleeter–” Carnegie’s cheeks flushed slightly as she tried to stop the word from leaving her lips before it was too late, to no avail. “Uh… in any Starfleet shuttle.” The proud smile that formed on her lips was inevitable, as she motioned to the Ranger-class vessel with the words ‘Lady of Steel’ painted in large yellow letters on its side. “Let me take you out on my ship. That way, not only can you and the Lieutenant have full access to my sensors, as you’ll be behind a better defense system than any shuttle can offer.”

Cpt. Carnegie, Recon Squad CO

M’Ressa looked toward the Captain’s moored ship and then her eyes swept over the Starfleet shuttles before she made a snap decision.”Fine. Let’s just get out there.” She said with a quick nod. Grabbing Sheriye’s arm she headed toward the indicated ship.”You fly.” She said to Carnegie,”Since it’s your ship.”

Sheriye in her stead just followed her granddam along, when they older Caitian was in this mood there was no gainsaying her. She was in her most take charge mode and no injuries or Ensign’s better get in her way.

Rear Admiral M’Ressa
Sheriye CSO

“Aye, Ma’am.” Carnegie said, slightly surprised by the Admiral’s seemingly bossy manners. Nonetheless, a slight smile appeared in the corner of Eleanor’s lips. No matter the Admiral’s plans, she would be getting out of the Chimera and do what she loved the most – piloting. And given the current circumstances, Carnegie was nothing but happy about it.

Hurrying to catch on to the Catian double, Eleanor walked under her ship between the landing struts and pulled the access ladder down so that both the Admiral and the Science Chief could settle into the cockpit.

Moving into the tight space M’Ressa’s eyes expertly scanned the controls. While not the same as a Starfleet shuttle it had very similar paneling.

“Behind the navigation console you’ll find two stations. The one on the right is Sensor Ops, the one on the left is Flight Engineering. I can reroute the Engineering one through to my console, but one of yinz will still have to sit there while we fly.” She informed the pair before adding. “Make yourselves at home. I’ll be right up with you, just need to disengage the magnetic hatches and do some pre-flight checks.

M’Ressa nodded and said ,”I can man the Engineering console, Captain.” Sliding into the Engineering console she worked at familiarizing herself with the readouts as Sheriye took her place at the sensors.

Rear Admiral M’Ressa
Sheriye CSO

Eleanor gave the Admiral a small smile and a nod in acknowledgment.

While not as spacious as a shuttle, the Ranger’s cockpit was far from uncomfortable. Powered down, the consoles were dark and the ambient light was off, but the chairs would still be clearly visible with the faint light that came in from the deck through the front of the cockpit.

Outside, having left the Admiral and the CSO behind so they could settle in, Eleanor disengaged the magnetic latches and walked around the Lady of Steel, conducting the usual checks she had repeated many times before. As she reached the nose of the vessel, she placed her open palm softly on the hull before muttering softly “Bring us back in one piece, okay?” She smiled softly before slipping under it and crossing the distance to the access ladder, quickly climbing on board.

As she settled on her seat, wiggling it softly as she did so, Carnegie tapped a few buttons and the consoles sprung to life. The Catians would be able to notice that while both the Engineering and Sensor consoles lit up with the usual red, yellow, and green color scheme, Carnegie’s console was permeated with bright shades or purple, orange, and blue. It was almost as if something was off, as it was definitely not the most pleasant setup to look at.

With a final tap on her console, Eleanor contacted Flight Ops.

=/\= Carnegie to Flight Ops. I have the Admiral and the Chief Science Officer on board. We are going to do a sensor sweep of the Chimera’s periphery. Requesting permission to depart. =/\=

CPT Carnegie, Recon Squad CO

=^=CIC. Captain Hawkins here. Captain Carnegie is going to take the Admiral out in her craft. We are going to prepare the flight deck for the launch. =^=

“Alright guys, we can’t guarantee that the ships systems are going to hold, so let’s get that bird into a launch tube. Come on, move it!”

MCapt Hawkins - A Co Commander

The distinct voice of the Chimera’s CAG snapped over the comm, he sounded slightly out of breath and more than a bit annoyed. =A= This is the CAG… Hawkins, get Carnegie a hole to get out then get that mess cleaned up. As soon as you are able, I need Status reports on our Birds and critical Flight Ops personnel. Captain Carnegie, switch your Auxiliary Comm Channel to 2-8-Bravo-1 and leave it open. This will give continuous two-way between CIC and the Admiral. You copy Iron Lady? =A=

Major Dawkins, CAG

Kate turned towards her squad. “You heard the Major, help these flyboys make a hole for Carnegie. Delta squad, start checking over the flight crews. Status report in 10.”

The smile that came over Carnegie’s features was unmistakable. Half happiness, half relief, and all of it excitement. Tapping her commbadge she replied.

=/\= Aye, Sir. =/\= Malcolm would be able to hear the smile in her voice. =/\= Opening the channel as we speak and warming up the engine. Waiting further instructions. Iron Lady out. =/\=

The low hum of the Ranger’s circuits came to life as Eleanor tapped a few more buttons on her console to open the requested auxiliary channel. =/\= Carnegie to Dawkins. This is Sentinel 1. Testing Auxiliary Channel 2-8-Bravo-1. Do you copy? =/\=

CPT Carnegie, Recon Squad CO

OOC: For the cabin crew and GM, you can find the Carnegie’s ship’s specs here. The sensor specs are under ‘optional sensory equipment’. – Joana

OOC: I think since there are more then just us three here that I will make a separate post for our out of ship maneuvers:) It will titled Ranger Excursion.

Krys

=/\= Thank you for the update, Captain. Are the bay doors functional? Those are not something we want to blow a hole in. =/\=

Jacobs, CO (crosspost)

OOC: We might want to make sure this outing gets the GM’s thumbs up. :)

OOC: Everything gets the GMs approval. The real issue was if they ship would comply.

The bay doors were much like all the other cross sectional doors. The computer had given them the order to be closed and remain so until the structural emergency had past. They resisted normal commands to open. Those with particular computer, mechanical, or related skills might be able to by-pass the computer commands. Likewise, if so inclined they might be able to ‘blow’ the hatches open. Which would be a significantly larger amount of damage then blowing holes in the deck (which carried their own consequences).

GM

Malcolm’s hand slammed down on the console in front of him… he’d been afraid of the problem they now faced. With a slight groan, his hand came down on the Comm. =A= Hawkins… this is the CAG… I need you to clear the bay and wrangle up a pair of Engineers with EVA suits. We’re going to have to open the Bay Doors manually for Sentinel 1 to head out… and when we do, the Bay will likely depressurize due to the Transit Shielding being down because of the Structural Emergency. I don’t want anyone not in a suit in that Bay in 90 seconds Captain… the Admiral needs an open door and we’re gonna give’er one. You Copy?=A=

Dawkins, CAG

“Scratch that. Everyone out. Now! Anyone who is not mobile call out, we’ve got 90 seconds to get out of here. Move! Move! Move!”

As she started running towards the bay doors, the sergeant carrying the comm pack caught up to her. She stopped just inside the door, and took the handset.

=^= CAG. Hawkins. We are clearing the bay now. Working on finding two gearheads, my main techs are with the Colonel heading for engineering. Do we know what is jamming the doors? =^=

“For the love of the Sisko, please tell me someone here has some decent engineering skills,” Kate called out as her squads helped evacuate the flight deck personnel.
