The ensign went to the drive and looked at the panel for a moment. Then headed to the comm system that the marines’ were carrying. =^=Begging your pardon sir, the wattage is warp eight on the power scale not necessarily were are moving at warp eight, it’s all being used somewhere… I’m not sure where and I’m not sure its safe just to turn it off. =^=
Ensign Engine

That was a lot of power just being siphoned off, Jen thought, imagining a large hose dipped into their drive. But who was sucking it out, he wanted to know. He had been studying the maps of where the crew had been and hoped that they’d have a path to sickbay soon to help mediate the injuries. However, back in the zone, Jen’s antennae shifted as though seeking the answer themselves. “I suggest a gradual shutdown, Captain. If the power is somehow going into our systems …” - here he wondered how much power it took to sustain all those force fields - “… that should become evident and we can reverse that quickly if it is an issue. If someone is bleeding us maybe they will knock.”
- Jen

Katelyn had let out an audible sigh as Engine reported the correction. That made the situation a lot more difficult and a lot more important, all at the same time. That kind of power drain meant something was seriously going on beyond the computer going haywire. “I agree,” she responded with a nod. “We need to figure out what the heck is going on here and fast.”

=/\= Jacobs to Engineering. Begin to slowly reduce the power. See if there are any other changes in our systems that you’re able to monitor. =/\=

Jacobs, CO

=^=Captain, I am leaving Private Gilmore in main engineering. I am taking Private Epson with me and we’re going to look for wounded and get them to sickbay if possible.=^= She said and nodded for Epson to follow her.

MCO

=/\= Understood. Keep me informed. =/\=

=^= Captain if you could seen someone down to the brig to check on my people I’d greatly appreciate it.=^=

Davon wasn’t 100% orientated to the new ship so he had to ask. ” Commander do we have an arms locker on this deck? I was sifting through the blue prints just before the incident and didn’t quite get that far.” He paused, ” All I have is my side arm and if we have an issue with bogeys. Then we might need a little more fire power that standard issue phasers.”

He looked around the room before finishing, “speaking from a security point of view.”

Jen’s attention moved to Davon. It was a valid question. Admittedly he had not been on board that long himself, having transferred over from the Marine Expeditionary Forces, however, he ‘had’ been first to the CIC and had the ability and time while waiting for anything to happen to look around and inspect. He nodded. “There’s a weapons locker - two of them - on either side of the CIC. His hands made motions pointing reminding him of flight attendant safety briefings. “They’re not comprehensive like an armory but they are enough to arm a fully crewed CIC.”
- Jen

OOC: I’m making a supposition on that one. It makes sense that there would be something at the principle ‘bunker’ of the ship as it were. .. Gene

OOC: Reasonable enough for me.

There was a sudden whine across every deck of the ship… it sounded like bulkheads literally crushing underneath their own weigh, but all of the pressure was coming from the outside. The ships gravity and other life support went to zero as the computer attempted to steal power from every other system to repower the shields and the internal force-fields.

The lights and other auxiliary systems dimmed to almost zero as the computer activated the red alert klaxons.

The whining ceased after a few moments as the lights and life-support returned.

GM

“Jen automatically gripped a console as gravity was lost, his ears and antennae taking in the sounds. He had not expected the response, though he was far from surprised by it. Quietly he held his breath through the klaxons and the lighting until things were restored. As things restored, Jen slowly let go. =^= Engineering, report. What did we learn from this? =^= He was not interested in an excuse or consequence. Something happened and while the experiment failed they learned something from it about what was going on. Jen turned to the others. “I’m thinking the ship is playing Atlas .. holding us up and we are not the wiser. Yet.”
- Jen

Suddenly a Caitian voice crackled over the comms,

Tapping the comms button M’Ressa decided to see if she could try and reach the bridge. =^= M’Ressa to Chimera. Chimera do you copy?=^= She commed.
