=^= Still assessing Captain. Has the Colonel made it to engineering yet? Because we might need their help. =^=

/\= Unknown, Captain. I’ll get back to you. =/\=

=/\= Jacobs to Hawkins. The colonel and her team are in engineering, so should you require their assistance, they’re available to you. =/\=

The bay doors were much like all the other cross sectional doors. The computer had given them the order to be closed and remain so until the structural emergency had past. They resisted normal commands to open. Those with particular computer, mechanical, or related skills might be able to by-pass the computer commands. Likewise, if so inclined they might be able to ‘blow’ the hatches open. Which would be a significantly larger amount of damage then blowing holes in the deck (which carried their own consequences).

GM

Malcolm’s hand slammed down on the console in front of him… he’d been afraid of the problem they now faced. With a slight groan, his hand came down on the Comm. =A= Hawkins… this is the CAG… I need you to clear the bay and wrangle up a pair of Engineers with EVA suits. We’re going to have to open the Bay Doors manually for Sentinel 1 to head out… and when we do, the Bay will likely depressurize due to the Transit Shielding being down because of the Structural Emergency. I don’t want anyone not in a suit in that Bay in 90 seconds Captain… the Admiral needs an open door and we’re gonna give’er one. You Copy?=A=

Dawkins, CAG

Much of the landing crew were EVA ‘ready’ their duty uniforms consisted of much of what was needed to operate in a vacuum. Many of them reached into a pouch and put on gloves and the collar that would attach to a helmet. Others had to run to lockers to star suiting up. In about two minutes the officer of the deck reported that all still in the launch bay was secure for depressurization. Almost as one, the group tapped their shoes and they magnetized to the deck.

“Scratch that. Everyone out. Now! Anyone who is not mobile call out, we’ve got 90 seconds to get out of here. Move! Move! Move!”

As she started running towards the bay doors, the sergeant carrying the comm pack caught up to her. She stopped just inside the door, and took the handset.

=^= CAG. Hawkins. We are clearing the bay now. Working on finding two gearheads, my main techs are with the Colonel heading for engineering. Do we know what is jamming the doors? =^=

“For the love of the Sisko, please tell me someone here has some decent engineering skills,” Kate called out as her squads helped evacuate the flight deck personnel.

MCapt Hawkins - A Co Commander

“If you want to open that with a plasma torch you are talking about hours, sir. You really need someone to either manually, or using a program to talk the computer to opening the door.” One of the flight mechanics raised a hand unhappily.

“I probably could get the thing to wind up… ten minutes, maybe less.”

GM

Kate was impressed by how quickly the landing crew was ready for the deck to be depressurized. She was going to have to talk to the Colonel about that. Maybe it was time to change up their shipboard gear. There were definitely advantages if her teams could go into a vacuum that quickly.

OOC: Well seeing as the launch bay is open to space with only a force field during flight operations they expect to need to operate without air at any moment.

OOC: Of course, it makes perfect sense. My character was jealous of how fast that they were able to be prepared, and wanted that sort of equipment for her team.

“Plasma torch is out. Been told to stop making more holes in the ship. Sounds like the Cap isn’t happy with our shortcuts. Okay, start whipping up up a program to override the computer.

“Sergeant Major! I need a 4 person detail suited up for EV. We are going to work this from both sides, just in case we need to manually open those doors.”

MCapt Hawkins - A Co Commander

The exasperated voice of the CAG came over the comms a few moments later. =A= Captain Hawkins… why the hell aren’t those doors opening?! If we jack around with squirrely LCARS issues, it could be next Tuesday before we get those damn doors open. Clear the Bay and get a pair of vac-suited Techs to both sides of the main doors. There should be access panels that can be removed exposing the manual retraction levers to open the doors. It’ll be a pain in the ass and take a few but it’ll sure be faster than screwing around with LCARS right now. Check in with me when they’ve started wrenching it open. Dawkins out. =A=

There was a half second pause before the CAG chimed back in. =A= Oh, and Hawkins… make sure they open the doors completely. I don’t know about the Chimera, but other carriers’ LCARS had fits if they rebooted and the doors weren’t all the way open or shut. Thanks, CAG out =A=

Maj. Dawkins, CAG

Kate grimaced, the last thing she needed was a flyboy to yelling at her. Looking around at the assembled group, she pointed at 6 of the flight deck crew. “Get to the flight doors. You three,” she said gesturing to the 3 on the right, “take the starboard door. You three take the port door. Get moving, and I’ll have my team follow as soon as we are suited up. Now go!”

Turning from the deck crew, she moved over to the series of lockers containing extra EVA suits. Thankfully she was able to find one that looked like it would fit her. They didn’t exactly have time to look around for a better one. They were totally going to upgrade their mission uniforms so that they were ready for a vacuum at a moments notice.

While the marines suited up with the EVA suits, the flight mechanics walked down with a hover cart of supplies, their magnetic shoes clanking with each step. They weren’t taking any chances with a sudden loss of air.

She started pulling on the EVA suit. “Sergeant Major! Where is my team?”

MCapt Hawkins - A Co Commander

The Sergeant looked over as he quickly suited up. Each member checked the next marines suit to be sure no mistakes were made during their quick equipment donning. After another moment they gave each one a thumbs up. “Good to go, Ma’am. But these suits don’t work too well with our rifles…”

GM

There was a sudden whine across every deck of the ship… it sounded like bulkheads literally crushing underneath their own weigh, but all of the pressure was coming from the outside. The ships gravity and other life support went to zero as the computer attempted to steal power from every other system to repower the shields and the internal force-fields.

The lights and other auxiliary systems dimmed to almost zero as the computer activated the red alert klaxons.

The whining ceased after a few moments as the lights and life-support returned.

GM

Kate looked up at the ceiling as the lights came back up. That was not what she needed now. “No time to worry about their rifles Sergeant Major. We haven’t encountered any hostiles yet, and chances are low of them needing them. But what we need to do is get that bird in the air and figure out what in the blazes has the Chimera trapped. As long as we are stuck here, the whole ship is a sitting duck, with us stuck in this tin can.”

Kate paused pulling on her own EVA suit. There was to much to do. “Sergeant Major. The detail is yours. Get those doors open. I’m pulling Gamma squad back to give you support. I’m taking Alpha and Bravo with me. Because I doubt that those lights dimmed on us for the fun of it.”

As she started pulling the suit back off, she motioned towards the comm tech. “Get CIC on the horn. Find out where they need us.”

He nodded and pulled out the handset. =^= Alpha Company to CIC. We are working on getting that bird in the air. The Captain wants to know where you need us next. Over. =^=

MCapt Hawkins - A Co Commander

An ALLCOMM broadcast suddenly went out to the entire Hanger Bay. =A= This is the CAG…=A= Came the sharp tongue of the Chimera’s senior flight officer. =A=… either the doors are open in the next three minutes, or I’m coming down there to do it myself! I want to know /why/ the doors aren’t opening and why they haven’t. Because it takes no more than six minutes to manually open those doors and y’all have been at it for ten! Now, if you people don’t want me down there, I better see the sensors on those frackin’ doors indicate that they’re opening in the next two minutes. Clear the damn bay, get a team of suited techs over to the manual levers, and open the damn doors! CAG out!=A= The end of the transmission caught the sound of the CAG’s hand slamming down on the button that killed the ALLCOMM. A few seconds later, an ominous countdown clock appeared on the Main Launch Control display centered above the main Hanger Bay doors. The red digits ticked menacingly down from 3:00… 2:59… 2:58… 2:57…

Dawkins, CAG

One of the techs looked at the other… “He seemed angry.”
The other tech responded. “He’s coming down here…” He’s voice deepening taking on an asthmatic rasp ” You can explain yourself to the Emperor personally.”
“The Emperor is coming here? ‘we will redouble our efforts…”

=/\= I’d like a visual survey of the ship to see if there are any clues as to what happened and what’s going on now. Sensor sweeps of the area should help too. Finally, see if you can get into contact with Starfleet. Obviously, our comms are down here. =/\=

Jacobs, CO (crosspost)

A minute before the count down completed. =^=Launch Bay One is clear for use=^=

GM

=/\= Start the scans as soon as the bay doors open. When will it be ready to depart? =/\=

Jacobs, CO (crosspost)

Kate motioned the comm tech to come over.

=^= Alpha Company to CAG. The techs finally got the doors open. Out. =^=

The exasperated tone of the CAG clicked over the comms. =A= Thank you! I’m glad someone could get those techs movin’! Much appreciated Captain, CAG out.=A=

Dawkins, CAG

She tossed the hand unit back, she hated when the flyboys started tossing their ranks around. Just because they got to fly fighters, it made them think they were all better then anyone else.

“Alright, Alpha company move out.”

She turned to look at the flight techs. “Good luck with the CAG. Might want to make sure you can get that bird recovered when it gets back.”

MCapt Hawkins - A Co Commander

OOC: Where is Alpha company going?
GM

OOC: I don’t know yet. I was trying to get someone from CIC to give us an idea of where to go next.

Steve

OOC: Previous standing orders were for the two companies to work their way along deck by deck to assist injured and find routes through the ship to traverse, bring in communication lines - not to mention find out any information they can on what is what. A Company was moving up .. B Company was moving down. Before injuries one has 300 in each company so there are lots of people still to continue with that. – Gene

Kate tapped the comm unit, they weren’t getting any response. Figures, now that they finally got somewhere, the comms would stop working. She tossed it back to the comm officer.

“Alright, let’s keep moving. Until we can get a hold of CIC, we keep clearing the decks. Hope we still have some explosives,” she said with a chuckle. “Private Jones! You’re on runner detail. Hightail it back to CIC and see if you can figure out what they want us to do.”

With a sharp salute the Private was off.

“Alright, Alpha Company, let’s move out! First squad, find us a way up to the next deck.”

MCapt Hawkins - A Co Commander

OOC: Okay, here’s the question though. They company made good progress as they were blowing holes in the decks.. up and down. At this point since communication has been established throughout the majority of the ship are they still just punching huge holes in the ship?

GM

OOC: If I missed a post for CIC, sorry! Let’s retcon this as Alpha Company should be heading toward the computer core and securing it so that some engineering folks can get there and figure out what the heck is going on.

Sarah

OOC: Well, didn’t figure they were ‘huge’ .. not thought of them any more than a somewhat rough Jeffries tube. Given the supposition that they’d work to find as many natural ways through without overbearing blasting, I’d not think they were creating a mass of ant holes. .. Gene
