Elsa listened “Ok. Start cutting this one and we’ll work our way down.” She said taking one of the cutting torches and starting to make the egress to the deck below them.

The Marines looked at each other as they started torching their way through another wall. It would only be a few minutes before they had punctured the section before them. A few minutes later the engine room was before them. The room was dimmed as the crew inside continued to work. The warp drive thrummed quickly, indicative of a moderate to high warp usage.

An ensign looked at the marines as they came in, “Well… I guess you are the Calvary.”

GM

=/\= Jacobs to Georgio. Status report. What’s your location? =/\=

Jacobs, CO (crosspost)

=^=Captain, We’re in Engineering.=^= She said as she turned to the engineer “Yep, we’re the calvary.” She said “What’s your status?” She asked

MCO

=/\= Jacobs to Georgio. I’d like a status report once you’ve had a chance to get up to speed, please. Captain Hawkins will be reaching out to coordinate flight ops. =/\=

Jacobs, CO (crosspost and thread title update)

The ensign looked up to the warp drive, “That thing is putting out power as if we are going at warp 8 and I’m not sure we are going anywhere.” He turned to the Marine CO, Star-Fleet was the navy so technically he didn’t have to ‘respect’ the orders of a marine officer, but that was a highly flawed practice since they were in the same ‘Fleet’ after all. “You wouldn’t have happened to pass a window on your way here and saw the stars flashing back and forth?”

Elsa shook her head “No. We had to cut our way to here. Sorry, but there is going to be a significant amount of repairs that need to be made. We have had to cut through the bulkheads to get to the launch bay as well. We have comms.” She said “Have you had any injuries?” She asked “We have a medic with us and can treat minor injuries and get people stablized.” She said motioning for Nicks to come up “Get the sit rep on the wounded.” She said as she opened her comm badge =^=Captain, the warp engine is in overdrive. Ensign Engines states that it appears we’re going at approximately Warp 8. We were not able to determine if we were moving. Can you update us on this?=^=

MCO

“They are all waling wounded right now. Nobody critical.” He turned to the cavernous section of the engineering room. “Davis, Jakes… you get squared away with the doc first… then we move from there.”

“We really haven’t had the luxury to be hurt.”

=/\= Get us out of warp for now while we figure out what’s going on. =/\=

Jacobs, CO (crosspost)

The ensign went to the drive and looked at the panel for a moment. Then headed to the comm system that the marines’ were carrying. =^=Begging your pardon sir, the wattage is warp eight on the power scale not necessarily were are moving at warp eight, it’s all being used somewhere… I’m not sure where and I’m not sure its safe just to turn it off. =^=

Ensign Engine

=/\= Jacobs to Engineering. Begin to slowly reduce the power. See if there are any other changes in our systems that you’re able to monitor. =/\=

Jacobs, CO (crosspost)

The ensign seemed less than enthused about the order. He would much rather have Argeneau to push the buttons… he shrugged… “decreasing power by 5%.” His voice revealed some of his trepidation, but he gave the Lieutenant Colonel a crooked smile.

Elsamine watched for a moment and looked at one of the MACOs with her “Stay here, help if you can. We’re going to keep moving and see if we find any wounded and get them to sickbay.” She said as she contacted the Bridge =^=Captain, I am leaving Private Gilmore in main engineering. I am taking Private Epson with me and we’re going to look for wounded and get them to sickbay if possible.=^= She said and nodded for Epson to follow her.

MCO

=/\= Understood. Keep me informed. =/\=

Jacobs, CO (crosspost)

There was a sudden whine across every deck of the ship… it sounded like bulkheads literally crushing underneath their own weigh, but all of the pressure was coming from the outside. The ships gravity and other life support went to zero as the computer attempted to steal power from every other system to repower the shields and the internal force-fields.

The lights and other auxiliary systems dimmed to almost zero as the computer activated the red alert klaxons.

The ensign turned the dial back to full power… “Yeah… I’m not doing that again.”

Jen’s voice came through the comms. =^= Engineering, report. What did we learn from this? =^=
- Jen, XO

The ensign was an ensign for a reason, he tilted his head as he looked at the readings. =^=My guess Captain, is the power is going to the structural integrity fields at a magnitude that is not what they are designed for – if its taking ‘warp eight’ amount of power. =^= He exhaled. =^=I can’t imagine that’s the whole story… more power has to be going somewhere=^=

Ensign Engine.

Elsamine looked at Engine “Ok…so structural integrity is currently compromised somewhere?” She asked “Well obviously it is…but what do you mean about power being sent to somewhere else?” She asked before leaving main engineering.

MCO

Eventually, the information would trickle to the engineer that the ship had a warp field up still. He stared at the thrumming drive for a few moments. “So I guess we are in a sub-space bubble for some reason. The bubble I guess could be part of the problem or part of the solution.”

Ensign Engine

Elsamine nodded “Okay, give me a general direction where the power drain is going on.” She said “I’ll take my team and check on it.” She said as she prepared to move out again.
