The thing about sick at is always that it seems fairly well organised and peaceful a place, a place where you come to receive healing and have hour pain taken away. That’s the thing about sickbays. They are peaceful until they are not.

Ryley was no stranger to falling over given his choice to walk with an old earth walking aid and the issues with his leg, what he didn’t like was being unceremoniously tossed onto the floor. Especially when he had been sitting in his office, minding his own business. One second he’s listening to The Beatles. Humming along to a mash up of Golden slumbers and carry that weight and the next second crash. Flat on his stomach on the floor with only half an understand of how he had gotten there.

He pushed himself up with a groan as his brain explained in small words what had happened and then felt his arms give way again as some invisible force pushed him down. Over the now seemingly fitting backing track he had accidentaly created with his music selection he could hear the crashing and yelling of the medical staff and patients outside in sickbay itself.

Again he pushed himself upright and foregoing the cane grabbed the edges of things as he limoed to the door and into the broken serenity of what sick ah should have been.

”What the hell happened.” he yelled and helped an NE to his feet.

”Spun.” A young medic said, Ryley eyed him he couldn’t be more than 19, and promptly vomited at the side of the biobed he was using for support.

The grumpy old CMO yelled for the first example drill that the staff would know and set people to get casualty reports as he fumbled in his pocket for the ckmm badge Jacobs had given him and pressing it into his chest pinned it and opened a channel simultaneously.

=^= Sickbay to Bridge, You guys want to stop spinning things about and crashing for all of five minutes? We just finished alphabetising the sick at supplies from the last disaster. =^= he said.

The first priorities of injuries were those already in sickbay itself and were the medical personnel who were flung about at the initial onset of this crisis. As they were able to, with effort, pick themselves up, Ryley could see minor injuries in many of the staff, ranging from sprains to bruises, to minor cuts.

Provided that the gravity remained as it was, Ryley could figure that he had some time to get things together there before people started crawling in, perhaps literally with the gravity increase. At least with the inertial compensators mainly working they were not all pinned to the wall getting squished to jelly.

=^=Bridge here, working on that problem right now,=^= The CO’s voice responded.

=^= Anyone hurt you there?=^= he asked in response.

Ryley swore as he lost his footing and had to grab the desk to keep upright. He pushed up again and strained to take stock of the sickbay.

“Right physicians heal thyselves. I want anyone who is badly injured find a not so badly injured buddy and get treated, not so badly injured people treat yourself then treat the others. And get this mess picked up. We need to be ready to see an influx of the walking wounded and the stupid who walk into them.”

He straightened some materials and started treating a NE’s head wound.

=^=Nobody appears to be injured, just a little shaken, I’ll let you know if that changes,=^= came the reply from the bridge.

By the time the sickbay was ‘nearly’ up to stable running the G forces that everyone was feeling had diminished considerably - albeit with a lot of jerks and sideways motions along the way that put everyone’s teeth and tempers on edge. About that time people started moving into sickbay - some singly but some in groups of two or three. Mainly the injuries were minor; the majority of them bruising, sprains and a couple of broken bones - fingers or wrists.

Two, however, came in carried by others who had plasma burns. One was to his back and side, though the other was more to his arm and part of his face. “Can we get some help here!!” one of the helpers called who, themselves looked exhausted from the trip.

NEs immediately responded to the walk ins and ushered people to biobeds to start treatment.

IC: =^= Bridge to SIckbay this Commander Harris, be advised we’re getting multiple reports of serious injuries on decks 9 and 10. Also be on the lookout for incoming minor injuries as well. We have reports are coming in on all decks so prepare for an influx of people in Sickbay. Harris out=^=

Harris, XO

It did not take too long for the first to come in. Two people were beamed into sickbay. One was a male Bolian laying on the deck with serious burns to one side. The other appeared to be ‘singed’ with minor burns and a bleeding cut to her temple area. “Doc!” she called out, then put her hand to her head and muttered, “Lesson for the day .. don’t shout.”

Ryley moved to the biobed of the Male and began a scan. He looked up at the woman. “Lesson two. Lie down shut up and let doctors treat you.” He nodded at of or the medical officers who moved to check the burn and handed her some gauze for the cut.
