Things were not looking good, as though the last self rescue mission was hardly a walk in the park either. Sutret could see more on the engineering side. One of the three impulse engines looked functional. Two were in the yellow damaged zone and one was blaringly red. All he could see was that deuterium was igniting and streaming out from Engine 2. The warp drive was online but not engaged.

The problem that was most concerning, however, was that there were temperature alarms in the proximity to and decks around Impulse engine 2. That meant a fire was spreading. Automatic suppression systems were .. not automatically engaging in most regions. Structural integrity was being challenged, which was only made worse from the previous ‘mission’ that had strained such systems to the limit.

OOC: Pasting in from the bridge ..
^=Looks like an impulse engine is malfunctioning, can you kill it from down there?=^=
CO

OOC: Crossposted from the bridge.

IC:

As the spinning slowly slowed, another call from the bridge came in.

=^=Andreassen to engineering, I’m going to want a damage report as soon as you’ve assessed everything,=^= She spoke, =^=If we can spare it, I’d also like a bit more power to the thrusters to help stabilize us and keep us limping toward the Starbase.=^=

~Freja Andreassen~

=^= Working on it Captain. We are having computer issues though, which is giving us issues in running the diagnostics. But I’ll get the ship back. =^=

Koria said as she was already walking through main engineering towards the large status board. Looking over the status board she cursed.

=^= Damage control teams to impulse engine 2, now! We’ve got rising temperatures, and fire suppression systems are not kicking in.=^=

=^= Barrows here. Team is suiting up now. =^= came the reply from a damage control team. =^= What are we walking into? =^= He inquired.

“Kill the deuterium feed to engine 2 now! And prepare to vent the compartments, just in case.”

Koria just hoped that even without the computer, they would be able to cut the fuel feed.

Lt Sutret - CE

“I’m .. not getting any readings from the deuterium feeds,” came the reply after some tapping, then some more. “There are a lot of offline sensors in that area. I can’t even tell if I have an engine 2 right now.” He tapped some more. “I have no remote controls for venting in two of the three sections that show temperature changes. Damage Control may have to do that manually.”
- Wookiee

Koria cursed. =^= Barrows, we’ve lost computer control in the area. We’ve got rising temperatures, and automatic fire suppression is not kicking in. Structural integrity is not looking good. We are going to try and cut the fuel feeds, but be prepared to vent atmosphere manually in that section to put out the fires. =^=

“Alright, we are going to have to cut the fuel fees manually. Go,” she said to the engineer. “I’m going to try and restore computer control from here. And let’s get a DC team ready to dump the fuel reserves as a last resort.”

Koria’s fingers started flying over the console, trying to find any power they might have left to restore computer control.

Lt Sutret - CE

Koria slammed her fists down on the console, this was not working. “We are running out of time!”

Running over to the workbench, she grabbed her toolkit. “I’m going down to the fuel controls to try and cut the fuel feed. Have DC team 3 meet me there.”

Heading for one of the DC lockers, she grabbed a fire jacket and a respirator, just in case. Tucking the jacket under her arm, she took off at a run for the turbolift.

Lt Sutret - CE

Sutret found that the turbolift would not take her to her desired deck. =^= Warning. Override command required to move to requested deck. PPE required. Requested deck is atmosphere compromised. =^= A quick check on that would note that it did not mean decompression but that the air quality was not good.

Not good, Koria thought to herself. Bringing up the diagnostics for the deck, she was thankful that it was just a bad air quality alert, and not decompressed. Hopefully the hull would hold until they could get the fire under control.

Meanwhile .. =^= Barrows to Sutret. We are approaching Zone 12. Temperatures are high and scans show plasma and conventional fires ahead. We’re accessing fire control now. =^=

  • Wookiee

=^=Acknowledged Barrows. I’m on my way to the fuel controls. Try to keep the temperatures under control while I cut the fuel. If needed, evacuate the section, close the emergency bulkheads and vent the atmosphere. =^=

Koria said as she pulled on the fire jacket she had brought. Pulling out the respirator, she pulled it on and quickly tested the seal. With the seal good, it was time to get going.

“Command override. Sutret Alpha Two Gamma. “

Lt Sutret - CE

=^= Authorization confirmed. =^= the computer said simply. A moment later it moved, settling quickly to the deck in question.

When the doors opened the corridor was smoky and the air warm. A layer of smoke slowly billowed about cutting the deck horizontally. Though it was only more opaque toward the ceiling, and Sutret could see to plow through it, it was not a good sign. She began to sweat in the hot air.
- Wookiee

A short while later .. =^= Barrows to Sutret. =^= There was a roaring sound in the background and shouts though all were distant and unfocused =^= We are in Section 4. Three sections out from the Impulse Units. Plasma fire is in our way. We’re progressing slowly with manual suppression. But sir. I’m receiving a weak distress signal from Safehouse 9Beta. Three engineers are trapped there. One is injured. Radiation level is too high for a beam out. We’re a section out still to get to them. Orders? ^=

Wookiee

As Koria walked out of the turbolift, she checked her respirator. She was going to have to be quick as she made her way to the fuel controls.

=^= I’m on my way to the fuel controls to manually shut off the feeds. How long do you estimate the safehouse has before it is compromised? And how long do you have till you get there? Otherwise, how compromised is the safehouse? =^=

Lt Sutret - CE

=^= They report secure. =^= Barrows replied. =^= The concern is the injury =^= There was a loud sound and a soft ‘boom’ =^= We’re working through a flare up. No ETA right now Chief =^=

It became evident that fuel controls for engine 2 was not going to happen, though they could do the same commands from engine four as they were linked to some degree. Power fluctuated throughout where Sutret was treading and the smoke was gradually getting thicker.
- Wookiee

Korea coughed as she tried pushing her way through the gradually thickening smoke. This was not going to work. The smoke would overwhelm her respirator before she got to the fuel controls.

Moving over to a nearby control panel, she had to find another solution.

It took a moment, but she could double back to engine 4, and shut off the fuel flow from there.

=^= Barrows, I’m doubling back to the fuel controls for engine 4. The smoke is getting to thick here. Pull your team back, secure the area, and vent the atmosphere. We need to keep the fires under control. =^=

Turning around Koria headed back to the turbo lift, and made her way to the controls for engine 4.

Lt Sutret - CE

=^= Have to manually vent =^= Barrows said. =^= Controls are ahead of us that we need at the airlock. We’ll make it, Chief It’s the best place to do it and can extinguish half the deck from there. =^=

=^= Keep your team safe Barrows, but let’s get this fire under control. =^=

Sutret, with sweat stinging her eyes that managed to get through her mask, made it through the worst of it and came around to an area where a force field was holding back the smoke. Beyond that was the control room for Engine 4.
Wookiee

OOC: If you wanted to work the getting through and to the control room that is fine .. no need to fuss in getting through the force field. Commands will get you through it

Koria reached up to wipe the sweat from her eyes, only to run into the mask. Time was definitely running out.

As she finally made it through the worst of the smoke, she came up to a force field between her and the control room.

“Computer, lower force field. Command override, Sutret Alpha Two Gamma.”

With the force field down, Koria made her way over to the controls, and hit the switch for the emergency cut-off for the fuel lines.

Lt Sutret - CE

The feeling in the ship was rather anti-climactic. There was a small shudder that the engineer could feel in the decking and then nothing as the lines were cut. Power shifted in the vessel. Slowly the lights on the panels winked out. Status displays still showed the conditions of the active impulse engines with only the one being potentially on line.

There was another small shudder. =^= Barrows to Chief. We have vented to space that area. Checking status of other areas but plasma fires will still be burning in areas the venting won’t reach. =^=
- Wookiee

As a Koria felt the shudder, and the status lights changed for the engines, she let out a sigh of relief.

=^= Good work, I’ve managed to cut the fuel lines. As you clear areas, go ahead and bring back life support, so fire teams can get in to put out the remaining fires. With the fuel lines cut, it should be significantly easier now. =^=

=^= Sutret to the Bridge. I’ve managed to cut the fuel lines to the damaged impulse engines. We had to vent the decks in certain areas to get the plasma fires under control. But the damage control teams are clearing the effected sections, introducing atmosphere so they can get the remaining fires under control. =^=

Lt Sutret - CE

“Deck 18, Chief Engineer’s office,” Jerryd repeated to himself quietly, “Engineering extends across decks 16 and 17 as well.” He continued to repeat what he knew about engineering as he grabbed a phaser from the weapons locker and checked the tricorder before closing it and clipping it to his belt.

Moments later he was stepping off the lift and heading to engineering, “In case of an emergency, the Chief Engineer is able to eject the core and/or re-route power throughout the ship from his office, which can be completely sealed off from the rest of Main Engineering…”

The Deltan began to run simple scans while moving down the corridor, “conduct basic scans of the area and await accompaniment by Science officers,” he muttered as he went, repeating his current orders, not wanting to mess anything up. Soon arriving at the CE’s office, he looked about, “Now I just need a Science officer…”
