SNIP

He pointed to the nearest bio bed and started scanning. (ooc: scan results Gene?)

There didn’t appear to be any obvious damage to her lungs. Scans registered chemical compounds to what would be expected in a fire on board. These compounds looked to potentially be the source of the problem, reacting with her lungs and inhibiting oxygen from being absorbed; the particular cells that would so react in the lungs were constricted.
Wookiee, showing utter lack of comprehensive biology <G>

Becca looked at the Doc. “I may not know much, but enough to not hinder. And I’m an extra pair of hands, Sir.” She was sincere in her desire to help. Without clearances she was going to be of any help anywhere else on the ship. At least here she could help in some capacity, she was sure.

”Good, how about you don’t be a hinderance then and get me a triox hypo…its the blue capped one in the holder.” he said indicating the hypo station. ”Pressit downcfor 5 seconds and then bring me it. Then grab a med kit and see if you can help some if the minor injuries.”

He checked the recorder readings, ”Any idea what she inhaled?” he asked those who had brought the woman in.

One with her looked at the other. “She opened a panel to manually shut off conduits that were compromised farther along. When she opened it there was a small flare and a cloud. Looked like a combination of plasma and coolant by the color.”

Becca did just as she was told. Thankfully she remembered the basics from the Academy. Getting the hypo and doing just as she was told, she brought it straight away to the Doc before grabbing one of the med kits and moving to the person furthest from the door, figuring they had been there longest.

She moved about with less precision as the medical team, but holding up her own enough to stop bleedings, and get ice for bruises. Those with more serious issues she tapped the nurses as they went by to let them be the ones to prioritize.

Not-a-hindrance

There were others coming in .. minor injuries. Smaller burns. Irritated eyes. Smoke inhalation. These Rebecca could deal with with some surety for sure.

The nurses seemed happy to have the extra hands as did the other medics who smiled briefly at Rebecca as she worked.

Meanwhile Ryley administered the hypo to the woman he stood over and scanned her lungs again. “Just take slow easy breaths. The triox compound should help.” He gave it a few seconds. “How do you feel?” He asked.

The woman took a series of quick breaths then a deep one, then coughed harshly. “I can breathe better,” she gasped out between coughs. “but it hurts.”

Riley did a more in-depth scan of her lungs and throat and checked the O2 saturation. ”where doesn’t hurt?” he asked

There looked to be some damage to the inside surface off the lungs in the upper region of the lung. “It’s like I take a breath and I feel it burn, or tighten up, or ..I don’t know.” She looked up apologetic but with some tears forming.

=^=Lt. Hugo to Science Chief Morrison, I am dispatching Security teams to the affected decks, I feel they could benefit from science staff on-site to conduct scans, are you able to have your staff assist?=^=

-Lt. J. Hugo

Becca kept moving about the room helping those she could and making sure anyone ‘not’ hurt was swiftly dispatched from the room to keep the chaos to a minimum. Those who wouldn’t leave were reminded that perhaps there were others that needed help. It was that chance to check around that she hoped would move some extra folks out and give the medical staff a chance to breathe and see just how bad things were.

”doing ok there?” he called to Rebecca as the medical team reorganised triage.

Everyone seemed to come in with someone else so Becca was busy sorting out the people. Most were eager to return to their part of the ship to assist wherever possible. But one marine who had brought another in crossed his arms and looked defiant. “Uh uh. Not moving doc. My buddy here is hurt and I’m not leaving him.” His ‘buddy’ was in for an arm whose bones were crushed in his left arm from a tool cabinet in the fighter bay slamming into it from the explosion.

Becca heard the man standing his ground in front of the nurse and smiled, coming over to help. “Ok, let’s get your friend to a chair over here and have a look. I’m Rebecca.” She helped the Marine get settled and nodded to his friend. “Are you all right?” She knew they would stick together, but it wouldn’t help if the moment she turned her back, Erickson passed out behind her. Her eyes bore into him with friendliness, but also a look that said she could stare him down if he remained stubborn.

The nurse swiftly got a pain block for the Marine in the chair and a brace to bracket the arm till the Doc could see to him.
