News often travelled fast, in a world moving at light speed. But with such a speed, that information had a tendency to fly right over people’s heads. Luckily, Elmira O’Shea had not been one of the unfortunate people. With the talk of a new Captain in the Fleet, she found herself sitting in silence, debating whether or not she should say anything at all. Chris had once been someone special in her life, an if she was being honest, he still had a place in her heart. But was it enough to randomly pop in and congratulate him?

Ever since the rekindle of their friendship, back on the Dresden, she could not help but wonder where life would take him. Alas, their jobs had torn them apart once more– the stress of losing her mother enough to cut her off from any conversation with him, for quite some time. Five months without any contact made it difficult for her to make that transmission. The thought nagged at her, toying with her mind as if it were a product of its own entertainment. If she took the chance, she risked illmanner and hurt from the man she had essentially left behind. If she didn’t, she had thrown away another opportunity, digging deeper the trench that separated them.

Oh quit being a woos! She muttered to herself, pressing her fingers into the bridge of her nose, as if relieving a splitting headache. You’ve been reprimanded gods know how many times for your forceful honesty, why can’t you step up now? She fought with her conscience for an answer, and concluded that it was foolish to fear anything at the leap she never took.

Glancing over to the mirror, she smoothed the vibrant red hair that had become her master trait. Deep, blackened eyes still burned with the same passion and fire that kept her going all throughout the Academy, a fire that led her straight to Christopher, all those years ago. Beneath the same features that seemed timeless upon the Betazoid woman, lines of worry had begun to emerge, hiding themselves beneath the faint bags that hung from her eyes. The years had begun to catch up with her, but had not yet overcome her youthful appearance.

Satisfied that she would not appear a stranger to the new Captain, she turned towards her monitor, pressing the transmission button. Now, she was left to wait for his response– if any at all. And far away from the Saracen, where she now say in her quarters, duty far from her mind, the message would pop up on the Captain’s screen, reading a name possibly familiar, or even a distant memory. Elmira could only pray it was the first.

=^= Incoming transmission from the USS Saracen =^= came the words through the ships intercom spoken by a proffesional yet monotone commications officer located on the bridge. =^= Im in my ready room patch it here please =^= spoke the Chris in a kind voice.

Sitting at his desk Chris activated the portable console positioned in the centre of the desk and waited for the transmission to begin. When activated the captain began to show an expression of show and suprise before speaking. “Elmira” Chris spoke any sign of proffesionalism not removed.

Captain Chris Johnson, CO

“Hey, Chris.” A soft smile, reserved only for those she cared for in moments few and far between, spread across her lips. “I don’t know if this is a good time, and I sincerely apologise if it isn’t..” Elmira was a blunt woman who did not usually give a damn about such things, so for her to care, was proof of her anxiety.

“Besides the point,” She waved her hand, brushing strands of ginger hair from her face. “I heard you were promoted to Captain of the Constellation.. I figured I’d give you the ‘congratulations’ you deserve.”
